... chicken pox!!

Headache all day Friday, fever (100+/-) all day Saturday, and the pox showed up today.

Here's hopin' it's a mild case. He was vaccinated, after all  (1995 or 96, it think; when he was 3 or 4.)

Anyone have any experience with chicken pox after the vaccination? Duration? Severity? Tips?

The doc doesn't want to see him because they like to keep contagious kids out of the office. But, I suppose he'll eventually have to be seen in order get a note for school.

My DD got the pox after being vaccinated as well.....and had a very mild case thankfully.

Not sure how your DS feels about taking a bath, but we bought some Aveeno at the store, and had her soak in an Aveeno bath twice a day. I think it helped to dry up the pox quickly.

Here's hoping for a very mild case for your DS!

DD13 had the chicken pox after being vaccinated - a mild to moderate case. She was pretty speckled in her hair and face region (yuck!) but not too much over her trunk and arms and legs. It seemed to last about as long as the case her older sister had, who was not vaccinated.

I got the pox after DD4 had the shingles. We both had been vaccinated. I only got 4 pox and they dried up in a week. Good luck.

both of my younger two got the pox after being vaccinated and I have to say, it was a breeze. Their older brother had the real thing before the shot was available. He spent one miserable week at home and had 400-500 pox. He looked so horrible he would burst into tears when he looked in the mirror.
OTOH, with DS11 and DD13, they had no fevers, no irritability, and about 50-100 poxes. Neither one of them has a single scar. They've had a tougher time with sinus infections than with chicken pox!

Lay in a supply of tylenol, benedryl, calamine lotion and Aveeno oatmeal bath, and plenty of DVD's. Popsicles help, too:cutie: This too shall pass

There have been a lot of threads on this subject if you do a search, I think I started one myself. Most of the time post vaccination, it's a very mild case. They are talking about giving booster shots now since so many have gotten the pox after the vaccination. Hope your DS gets just a mild case too.

My DD did as well. I did take her to the Doctor to confirm and he although it was very mild she did stay home from school. It was a very mild day in the Spring so we sat outside and had a fun day together. She wasn't uncomfortable at all. I hope your ds feels better soon.
