Ugh - Be Our Guest :/

We ate at BOG for lunch under the old menu a few years ago and were not impressed. BOG is located near the back of the park so it is a rather long walk just to get there. You line up in a narrow/stuffy hallway to get to the check-in area. Service seemed like an odd mish/mash of QS & TS. You ordered your food off a kiosk with a confusing set of menu screens, got your own silverware and then found your own table. Servers brought your food when ready. Too loud/noisy for our taste and seemed more like a cafeteria than anything else. Some talk about the amazing atmosphere/decor but we just didn't get it.

Now they have those pricey fixed menus, we will NOT be eating there again.

I think in the past when breakfast was served, people used it as a scheme to get early park access since one popular ride is nearby. Personally, I think Disney could avoid the people gaming the park opening time by NOT allowing park access at any restaurant serving breakfast until the park opens for everyone else. That would solve that problem and you don't get someone ordering one cupcake so they can race off to the park before everyone else.

We did breakfast and lunch years back when it was a la carte, plus at breakfast orders came with a little tray of breakfast pasteries. Oh the good old days.

I don't generally like fixed menus because I don't eat much. The exception would be Liberty Tree only because it's my husband's favorite.
We used to go about 2 pm. order two coffees and three desserts. Sit for a while in one of the side rooms.

Fixed Priced menu solves the problem without depriving Disney $$ from early dining. The issue is also guests making a token order to enjoy the atmosphere.

Disney could require at least one entrée order per guest. Could have a per person minimum order.

Fixed price is the easiest solution.

JMO high costs and price fixed meals would be more acceptable if the food quality was exceptional.

Pricey fixed menus seem like a Disney knee-jerk reaction to whatever problem they are trying to solve. If people stop eating at a restaurant because they think $70+/person is too much to pay for lunch, I wonder what Disney will do next?

While the 'atmosphere' is clearly part of what you are paying for at many Disney restaurants, exorbitant menu prices isn't the answer.

There had to be an answer because BOG was a bit much there for awhile. Popularity plus people getting ADRs and then only spending 10 dollars on a party of 4 equaled something needed to be done. Is what they did on the extreme end? Yep. Has it impacted the potential quality of other new places (like Oga's)? Yep. Will Disney learn from it when they put in the Central/South American retheme of Dinoland USA and the MK expansion? Probably not.

When you are in an environment when novel breeds bad behaviour management has little recourse. Look at Roundup Rodeo. Novelty pencil, too many get stolen. No pencil for anyone.

In my eyes what I think Be Our Guest is doing and why they started the Prix Fixe menu was so they could attract more visitors to their restaurant and when they began the Prix Fixe menu I think that's when Be Our Guest started going downhill and once park visitors saw the new menu and the price changes Be Our Guest lost visitors. But paying for a pricey meal is not everyone's cup of tea and when you go to Walt Disney World there are plenty of other restaurants that aren't so pricey as Be Our Guest. And why does Be Our Guest just let The Beast walk around to the tables and not having guests take photos with The Beast anymore? Because having a picture with The Beast after dinner was what made Be Our Guest such a popular restaurant with Beauty And The Beast fans. To me what Be Our Guest should do is have a Beauty And The Beast themed character breakfast and character dinner where guests could meet Belle The Beast and Gaston and the Enchanted Objects could join in the character dinner along with Belle. Because I think the main reason why Be Our Guest got rid of The Beast after-dinner meet and greet was because of money issues but if Be Our Guest had a character breakfast with Belle and get rid of the Prix Fixe menu it would gain it's customers back

I'm sure BOG lost many customers when they changed to prix fixe, but I don't think they've lost enough profit to go back to the old way. They may even making more money now while serving less people. The place was a screaming hell hole when it was QS. It's now a calming and beautiful place to dine, especially on a hot day.

We enjoyed our dinner at BOG 2 months ago, the food was ok, the ambiance was very pleasant, the restaurant was full. I don’t blame Disney for going fixed price, it’s a popular venue in a park that has limited non QS options.
The reality is you can gross $10,000 serving 1,000 people who pay $10 each or you can gross $10,000 by serving 100 people who pay $100 each & your profit will be higher in the 100 person scenario because your labor costs are so much lower. &, your profit margin will be even better if your $100 patrons who were unable to get reservations before because $10 patrons had booked all your tables can now book tables.

I really hate the prix fixe trend. I just don't care to eat like that. I'm a two appetizers and a glass of wine type of diner (Ok--two glasses of wine--sue me.) The "All you care to enjoy" meals give me anxiety because so much goes to waste. Because of this, I'm dining at very few table service restaurants on my next trip. And I think if BOG wants to charge $$$ for prix fixe, they could at least put table clothes on the tables which would help with the noise and elevate the experience a tad.

I wouldn't call my 2022 lunch there calming, it was packed to the gills with not enough servers for the volume of people. All I remember was it being loud and crowded. It was my least favorite lunch that entire trip (and we ate a lot of TS lunch that trip). I couldn't even tell you what I ate...

Which means the price wasn't high enough if the place was packed to the gills. It was still packed during our visit 4 weeks ago, but nothing like before.

I had my first BOG experience back in August. I enjoyed it and the food. The salad I chose was very refreshing and I was impressed with my steak. It was a super hot day that day and we were pushing it and running a few mins late for our resi. When we got to our table, our server was delightful and recognized that we needed a minute to catch our breath and cool off. She brought us waters and gave us time to look at the menu. I'm not thrilled with the $60 price tag but I went into it knowing that and planned for it.

I ate there when it first opened and lunch was awesome! We went back 2 years ago for dinner and I was highly disappointed and insulted. I ordered the grilled filet mignon without the Sauce au Poivre. I also asked if I could have extra mashed potatoes instead the green beans. Our waiter said that wouldn't be a problem at all. Which was fine. When the plate came out, it has a side of ketchup on it. Which didn't bother me, but I asked why I got ketchup. The waiter laughed and said that only children order the steak the way I did so the kitchen must have thought I was a child and gave me ketchup because kids will ask for it.
I was insulted, the food wasn't that great, and we were rushed through our meal. I will not be going back.
