TL/DR - Anyone willing to share their Uber/Lyft expenses for a week? Or give me some rough estimates? Windsor Hills to theme parks?

Rental car price has me really frustrated - It's just me and my newly 5 yr old right now our travel expenses $600 rental car + $175 disney parking = $775 the same price as my VRBO..... So I'm thinking I'll hire car service for airport transport (so I can get a grocery stop but know I could deliver midweek if I needed to) and then just do Uber and Lyft to and from the parks. We have no non-Disney activities planned at this time and staying near the Windsor Hills area so pretty close. Will probably buy a Bubble Bum for a booster which would fit in my backpack - normally he's in a 5 point high back booster and I 100% understand the risks but he is height and weight within the range. Sorry this is word dump....first time traveling solo and don't have another adult to bounce off of. I mean I could theoretically take the $175 in parking expenses and stay on property one night his birthday is in the middle of the trip. Going the last week of April 2022 so not a peak time.

It's really easy to see Uber/Lyft fees for yourself.
Go on the app, put your starting point and destination in and it will populate with the fees for each car category.

Uber/Lyft prices fluctuate dramatically depending on time of day/events/demand/etc. Its hard to hone in on a specific price range.. If possible, I would strongly recommend trying to switch to stay on-property and that would eliminate all of your transportation costs (WDW transportation is free) except airport transfer.

Yea - I'm just lazy and hoping someone had a good estimate for me - I know surge pricing might come into play. I absolutely have no desire to stay on property for our trip - Disney has price gouged us out of that experience and other multiple reasons for us to stay off property.

No one knows your schedule, how many times you'll be going back and forth, etc. so you’ll need to do the work yourself. It’s very easy and will take 10 minutes max.

Take your schedule and grab the addresses of the hotel and TTC, AK, DHS & Epcot. Adjust your time to match that of Disney's timezone and you can easily price things out. Once you have some idea of the surge pricing vs regular pricing you can use ride.guru and then you can adjust their surge pricing.

I think you're overestimating the cost of a rental car. Unless you have some very specific needs. I've got a car booked in two week for $175, when I was in FL for a week in October I paid $240. I had www.autoslash.com give me a quote, from 4/23-4/30 picking up at MCO the lowest was a Jeep Compass from Fox for $278, the cheapest onsite was a compact from Thrifty for $528. The onsite prices will more than likely drop as we get closer to the date.

I'm not - I have it booked through Costco and it's absolutely ridiculous that being said I haven't gone through the discount rental companies because of mixed reviews. My Costco rental is completely cancelable 24 hours in advance so I might make a last minute decision to roll the dice. I've used Fox in Denver and it was fine the car was really stained but clean.

Uber/Lyft could be difficult, I am guessing your 5 year old still needs a car seat (I think you mentioned a Bubble Bum, don't know for sure what that is, doesn't sound safe to put a child in an inflatable car seat, especially with all the tourists on the roads in FL who have no idea where they are going). Not sure if you could count on ride shares to have the larger seats for older kids. It could cause a lot of unnecessary waiting for a car that is able to accommodate. As EACarlson suggested, try Autoslash (I learned about them because of him). It's an aggregator of all car rental sites and they will find the lowest rate. You can choose your car and rental company and no credit card is needed. If the price drops, you can set up an alert so you are notified, though it is for the same type of car only. I would put in my info each day for a new quote and the price dramatically dropped over the 2 weeks I looked. I saved over $300 from the lowest price advertised on any specific rental site I used.

Thanks this is helpful! I'm always weary of pre-paying for rental cars - ideally I'd pay $350 for the 8 days but the $600 I'm seeing now is making me sick.... I have time and check weekly.

I paid $300 all inclusive for a midsize for 9 days at the beginning of December. I never gave a credit card until I got the car at the airport. Definitely try Autoslash (they have great ratings, too - I checked before I used them). You give them your name and the dates and they ask if you have AAA, etc. About 15 minutes later they send you a quote with a selection of cars and rates and a link to book each if you want. Even when you book a car, no credit card is given. The confirmation comes via whoever you rented from (mine was actually from Priceline because that what Autoslash found). I would do a new quote request each day because I did not care what size car I had. It went from a midsize SUV originally for $428 and I ended up with a Corolla for $300. Same car directly on the rental agency site was $275 more. Try it!

I started to give an estimate until I saw this (I stayed onsite - so, my numbers would be meaningless). I would do a general search from your VRBO to one of the parks, add a couple of dollars in case you distance is further and multiple it by days there (I don't think you've told us) and then again by 2 (arrival/departure). My average trip from AKL to parks was something like 12 dollars.

When I was planning a trip last year, I used the RideGuru app on the days of the week and at the approximate times I expected to need a ride in order to get the prices at that moment. I checked every week for several weeks, so that I had a rough idea of what it would cost. You could try doing the same - one morning, put in the address of the VRBO and the park you'll probably go to that day, and check it out. RideGuru gave me prices of the various sizes for rideshare as well as for taxis (I was checking for airport transportation).

A BubbleBum is an inflatable booster seat that meets all of the requirements and testing set forth by the NHTSA and CPSC for booster seats, just in a much more readily travelable package. I used one for my younger son the last time I was at WDW and my mother used it numerous times on the rare occasion she takes one of my kids somewhere.
Autoslash will check your Costco rates also, it's one of the things they ask if you have. When you set up alerts for a rental it checks all prices for your class of vehicle or higher. I had a booking for a mid size SUV, the next price drop Autoslash found me was for a Minivan. I'm working on the Autoslash team to add a feature to check prices on selected classes.
Autoslash almost always goes through Priceline, because Priceline is the only one of the OTAs that will give the rental car confirmation and not just their own. I have a Hertz reservation in two weeks, I have the actual Hertz reservation number and can pull it up on their site, not just through Priceline.

Bubble bum is very safe.

Rideguru doesn't always accurately reflect dynamic pricing . Rideguru will somwtimes sognificantly understate costs. Use actual lyft and.uber.apps to check pricing.

Edited to add ridegiuru doesn't have real time access to ride share fares. The rates quoted are based on published fares. Supposedly crowd sourcing will somwtimes adjust the fares shown

It was $35 from HS to AK at 7pm not park closing time. 14 minute ride and I had to walk pass the bus to get to the Uber area!

At park closing at AK 9pm it was $45 to ride to MK . Surge charge.

The surge charges have gotten so frequent we’ve just started renting cars. Car rentals have gone down. We’ve got a quick trip for the AP preview and realized that round trip from the airport was going to cost the same as a rental car all by itself. Any other trips would be even more.
