Uber from resort area to port Canaveral?

Since next year's Panama Canal cruise is out of PC, we were thinking of staying a few nights in Orlando and then heading to port, does anyone know how much an Uber or taxi would be? Or any other suggestions for getting there? Not planning on staying at a resort property so not thinking about Disney transportation (and we would like to beat the rush) any suggestions/tips?

a taxi or UBER from the airport is a bit over $100 plus tip. If west of the airport at the resort areas add accordingly. There are MANY shuttle options but these cost per person so savings may dissolve depending on size of your group .. but worth checking out. Recommend reviewing the 'transportation' section above . . .

We live in Orlando, Uber was advertising rates from the resort area to Cocoa Beach for 50-60$ one way earlier this year I remember, trying to entice people to uber to the beach. You can log on to their website to do an exact fare estimate as well.

We usually rent a car from Budget at the airport and drop it off at the port. The cost for a small SUV is about $62 for the one way trip. Budget does not charge a "drop-off" fee which some of the other rental agencies do. Other size cars are cheaper but we get the SUV for the larger luggage space.

People keep talking about the cheap rentals, but every price I've checked, essentially comes to at least as much as a Disney transfer for 4. Maybe it's just the time of year I'm going? It's much cheaper to rent in MCO if you're returning it to MCO, but if you're taking it to the port, it seems they add a lot on. I've checked Budget, Avis and Alamo. I even checked through Costco, which so far has been the cheapest.

My problem is we will be there a day or two early, so I'd like to rent for the freedom on those days. But it may be cheaper to return it to MCO and just take the transfers. Not sure.

I always rent from MCO, spend a few days at Disney and then return the car to the port. We usually get a minivan and I have found Costco to be the lowest in the past....but....this year I have been checking prices for a minivan over the last few weeks and they are super sky high for our trip in August. I did hold something through Costco and glad I did because rates seem to keep rising but I will continually check. Often prices fluctuate up but sometimes down.

In March 2016 I was able to rent a minivan for only $107 for 5 days through Costco. For August I am getting rates of over $300 for a 3 day rental.

I always check www.mousesavers.com for discount rental codes as well.

Yeah, I'm finding their prices for next March are really high. I'm actually thinking about all the savings I'd have if we rented at home, drove for 2 days and left it in the parking lot. Hubby says his days of doing that drive are over, though.

I have several AVIS rentals set up (one way)

MCO to WDW
WDW to port
port to MCO

Each one is a full size car for $40.00

Just make sure you use one of the codes on flyertalk or mousesavers and you can get the good rate.

I work for AVIS/BUDGET, Avis does : (

When looking at rentals I'm getting 65 or so and that would be great, plus allow us the freedom to pick up supplies before the trip, thanks for the mousesavers tip too guys

If you are looking for NEXT March (2017) -- then the "deals" likely are not out yet. I typically find the best car rental discounts within about 6 weeks of when I need the rental, and that holds true for whatever travel not just for cruising. Since the ground transportation doesn't need to be finalized this early, I suggest you wait until early next year to start checking again.

Enjoy your cruise!

Fair point. I'm a planner, though. Also, I want to lock down our airfare, which I could do any time now.... unless I want to wait until October for SW to put out their fares.

Was excited to see your post...was that with any discount codes (I can't tell from the screen shot). I tried just now and got rates of over $400 pay at counter and over $300 for pay now. I am picking up at MCO and dropping at port 8/10 to 8/13. 11:00 am to 11:00 am

Yes, I got it from flyertalk. Make sure you are a member of the frequent renter program and are signed into your account.

I ran a test for next march and got pretty good rates. I also book out far in advance, and check every now ans then. If a better deal comes up I grab it....
