:santa: We are heading down next week and planning to do a lot of resort hopping to see all the Christmas decorations. Is it possible to use Uber to go from resort to resort or even resort to a park? I'm not all that familiar with Uber but was wondering what the cost is around WDW? Is it worth setting up and Uber account before we leave?
Thanks!!

Yes. People do it a lot. Expect most fares to be in the $5-10 range, but around Christmas and NY it will be surge pricing and more.

There are lots of Transportation experts on the Transportation Forum here on the DIS. That is where the link above is from

We use Uber every time we visit and have never had a problem. The cost for each trip varied from $4.50-$7.50 even with surge pricing it shouldn't be that bad. Makes traveling between resorts a pleasure!

all the folks that i have heard from the use Uber at Disney (and its a bunch) universally report that it has worked well for them despite the time of year

We are planning on renting a car from the car care center for just a day and were thinking instead of waiting for a shuttle to come get us at the AOA we would take an Uber and also at night the center will be closed by the time we return our car and were thinking of taking an uber back to AOA. Has anyone ever done this and I am total unfamiliar with Uber as well. Do they run late at night?

You can also use Lyft, which is essentially the same. If you're a first time customer, just before you go, search for the $50 off coupon code on Google and sign up with that code. It gives you $5 off your first 10 rides (I think you only have 1 month to use) -- meaning it should only cost around $2-3 + tip to get around Disney.

Was in Disney World last week and we used Uber about 3 times. Monorail was down so we used it once from the GF to Epcot (was about $7 and dropped us off right at Epcot front gate). Also used it from the animal kingdom to Hollywood Studios which was about $6 and dropped off right at the front gate too. From talking to the drivers it seems Disney has embraced Uber. One driver said Uber has helped somewhat with all the congestion.

No problems with Uber getting through security gates at the Hotel or the parking gates at the parks. Each park has a drop off area and thats where Uber drops off and picks up

We tried Uber this last trip and really enjoyed it.

We expected a surge charge after 9pm on a Saturday night from Disney Springs to our resort and there wasn't one. We were very impressed.

However, the pick up location in Disney Springs (as of August 2016) was located behind LaNouba. Took a lot of text messaging to finally find our driver. Thankfully, he said it happens often and was not upset. He did say that Disney only allows them to pick up from that one and only location in Disney Springs. I hope this changes as this location is not convenient to anything.

I would use Uber without a doubt on our next trip.

We used Uber for the first time at WDW last month and it was FABULOUS. Used it once to get to a CVS and once to get to a Caribbean restaurant. What would have cost us $20+ in a taxi cost us about $9 Uber. The cars were clean and the drivers were friendly and spoke English. Uber's the way to go! Picked us up and dropped us off at the Yacht Club with no problem!
