U.K. National Autistic Society

Happened upon this autism organization.

It is the National Autistic Society of the U.K. and is dedicated to evidence based treatments (not Cure) to help people living with autism.

Their motto is ‘Until Everyone Understands’ and the Photo is their Core Beliefs Page.

The site has a lot of descriptions by Autistic people about how autism affects them.

There are some really helpful looking pages about how you can help (or help yourself) deal with overwhelming sensory input, change, etc. that might be helpful for people going to Disney World.

Someone sent me information about alleged abuse in group homes run by this organization.
This is really distressing- especially since the organization seems so inclusive of people with autism in the organization. I usually look at a couple of pages of search results before posting an organization as a good one.
In this case, nothing showed up until I actually added the word ‘abuse’ to the search criteria.

I would say some of the articles on their website still contain helpful information, but take the good things the organization says about itself with a (very large) grain of salt.
