U 2 hot to trot, or walk, or ride rides or...?

The roofers should have covered with a tarp. Rain is a fact of life and I'm sure it happens to them all the time. I feel they should have been better prepared. And I'm with you patching the hole yourself. No telling how it would turn out if they do it! Sheesh!

You said your DIYs were nothing special, and I thought they were GREAT! So, I'm pretty sure all your surprises are going to be fantastic. You sound excited and I love it.

Yay for the hair cut! I missed my last cut due to out of town company and haven't had time to make another appt. I really need it cut badly, but I'm leaving on Tuesday for Virginia and will be gone 3 weeks. I may just go to one of those cheap quick cut places and just let my hairdresser yell at me when I get back!:rotfl: I'm desperate!! Can't wait to see the pic of your nails. I love fun nail treatments! Okay, I better get to bed. Hope you get good news on the cost of the repairs and all.

I agree... those roofers should have had tarps as a normal necessity to pack in their truck.... random rain is no surprise here in the south so its very uncommon to see anyone getting their roof replaced w/o one on there already just in case... ( there were quite a few roofs that had to be replaced here recently because of damaging hail and tornadic winds)...

I hope all turns out awesome and quickly so that you get back to focusing on your trip!

Can't wait to see pics of your nails and your goodies! I'm going to be putting ours together soon! It will be much easier when our girls go back to school next week!

That is just horrible about your roof... I sure hope there was no damage to anything in the attic and the rest of your house is fine too... I agree - there should have been a tarp nearby.

I sure hope you don't have to cut out any of your trip... but I am glad you will have a car - so you have other options in place if necessary.

Can't wait to see your nails - I have big plans for ours this trip - I really want to splurge and have them done - we will see.

I know how you feel about hair cuts... I am still a little miffed at myself for my last cut - I should have known better right before a trip to do something drastic - I am still not loving it, but it's not grown out enough to put it back the way it was. I should have listened to my stylist - oh well... It will grow eventually.

yeah, The roofers have had their share of issues with our roof too, so I am giving them some slack, atleast until we get into the attic. But, no major issues in DS's room or DD's room. So...all's well that ends well. And to be honest. I think they were trying to get it done before the clouds were here. Since it has been so much longer than he expected because of very very rainy weeks. They did have a tarp, They always seem to have one on one of the stagings, I think it just slammed hard immediately, no working up to the hard rains. There are only 2 guys on the roof at any one time. So, :confused3 I would rather my house get a little damage than them slipping trying to get the tarp.
But, I do wish things had gone a bit smoother. They are saying they will be completely done tomorrow, then the dumpster will probably go Monday. :worship: I need the extra noise to be gone and my world to slow down on the spinning.

Thanks for the compliments on my DIY stuff. I really want to get pictures of the goodie bags. It's the first time I made the bag toppers.

hair actually came out well. nails....ah.... well I did one hand & DD did the other. I will show pictures later. of my hair, curly and after I straightened it. And of my nails.

okay, here are the pictures of my nails and hair.

I found the how to for the nails on youtube. Here they are....
First the one DD did for me.

And I am embarrassed to show you my right hand, but keep in mind, I did it first, and I am a righty, so I was "painting" with my left hand. ... and I do have vertigo. hahaha Seeing how poorly it came out is when I recruited my DD. lol

We will be trying this again before our trip. :)

Now, I didn't think to take a picture before I had my hair cut. But, I did do one before & after I straightened my hair. so, first a` la` natural hair...aka curly...aka.. frizzy if I try to brush it after it is dried.
This picture I took myself. Not a good idea, but here it is....

Then after I straighten it. DS took this one just a few minutes ago.

I think your nails have great potential... Just keep practicing in your "down time" Hahahaha... I love the ideas, and I think they will be perfect for DIsney!!! And it was great seeing pictures of you! I like your hair both ways... Are you planning to straighten it in Disney?

D~

I'm so sorry about everything happening with your roof! I know that mistakes happen, but this should be a fairly routine thing for a roofer, and that should have gotten covered up before the water had time to soak all in there.

Your hair and nails look great! I love all of the different Mickey's on your nails, very creative :)

Your nails looked great!! I love the idea too! *sits and wonders if I could pull that off for DD6... ;)

I agree, your hair looks fantastic either way... We had to cut my DD11 hair short because hers does the same and now it has the cool beachy vibe to it.. hahaha

Was there anything specific, besides getting the address for the resort, that you had to do to send those goody bags ahead of your arrival? Will they be delivered to your room ahead of you the family?

the nails are adorable!!!! and practice makes perfect, right ;)

hehehe I will tell DD. hehehe

It is fun. Not my concept I think I originally found it on pinterest, then searched it on youtube to find it again. Hair - thank you. I don't know about straighten it in Disney. Depends on how high the humidity is. If it is really bad, it will be frizzy/curly no matter what I do.

I know, you would think so, and when it first happened I was angry. But, things happen. I find remembering everyone is human, and have their own issues going on in their mind, helps me to stay calm. Which in the long run only benefits me. The roofer isn't charging extra for other issues he says he has come across that he could charge us for, so fair is fair.

I love the idea of it too. Again, I can't take credit it was pinterest/youtube.

I love the idea too. I will say this about doing childrens nails.... I think it would have been easier & looked better if my nails were longer.

The description of your DD's hair reminds me of Rapunzel when it is short. Is that how it is? Love that cut. If my face wasn't so chubby, I would possibly consider it.

We did this for the first time last November. If you check out this thread on the resort thread or possibly the wedding thread they have more details. But, you address the package as the MAIN name on the reservation , (the next line can be the guest it should go to )then the resort name with the words FRONT DESK, the resort address & zip. AND this is iimportant... do not use USPS (government postal service) they don't recognize each resort address, they will deliver to main Disney address & it will take longer to get to the resort. We used UPS last time. It was a bit expensive, but everyone enjoyed the. They do not bring it to the room. When the guest checks in they should be informed they have a package. We sent 2 pkg last trip. At the Poly the guest was advised they have a pkg. At SSR, they weren't we had to tell the guest to go to the front desk & ask if there is anything for them.

You look marvelous Darling simply marvelous !!

As my sweet elderly friend would have said...." you must need glasses". But, thank you. I do like this hairdresser.

Oh that's right! My bad... I completely forgot! I remember the story you telling about how they had to go back to the front desk to ask for their package.. :thumbsup2

I think it would be so fun for our girls to have a "package" waiting for them when we arrive!

* on a side note... yes her hair is very similar to Rapunzel.. hahaha I never thought of it that way! DD's is a teenie bit longer though.. princess:

No problem. How can we keep track of everything. I know those I sent one to very very much appreciated it. Even my little guy friend (8 yrs) was so appreciative he bought me a bracelet with his own money!

Your dds hair must be adorable.

Sorry about your roof, nails look cute, I thought of trying that ,then wimped out and ordered decals on pinterest.......:rotfl:

So, today was the day we got ALOT done. Notice the word WAS. Well, I don't drive, and DD#1 and DH are both sick. Both the boys are working. So, I get nothing done. Noone to distract the little one. And no way for me to get to where I need to get too.

I did manage last night to take a few pictures of the goodie bags. I will try to post them later.

For now, I will review the plan.

Monday - We will complete packing by end of day Monday the 19th. Sneak all the luggage down to the front closet.
DDBF will bring his suitcase out & hide it in front closet as well.
He may or may not sleep over this night since he will be getting here at 5:45am.

Tuesday- am DD#1 will awaken DD#2 (the birthday girl) up and tell her that because she has to work today she wants to take her out for a sister breakfast date, in celebration of DD#2 birthday.
Immediately, one of us brings the dog to the dogsitter. Puts the emergency contact info on the table for the house sitter.
The limo should show up about 6am. Pack the luggage and wheelchair into it.
DD's come back.
We yell surprise to the birthday girl. While video tapping with our new camera of course! And tell her we are taking a joy ride. We inform her it will end with a meal of her choice anywhere she wants. BUT, that her siblings and DDBF can't join us as they have to work. Knowing she will choose (please oh please) BoG (if she doesn't it wouldn't be unusual for DD#1 to encourage her to pick a particular restaurant). At this time we will have already been heading into the airport. She may very well figure it out at this point. BUT, we are confident she will not suspect the siblings to be taking a different flight than us.
Upon getting to the airport, The birthday girl will say her goodbyes to her siblings and DDBF. (I expect a few tears at first) DH & chauffeur will be getting luggage out & my wheelchair. I will ask DD to push me in the chair while DH checks our luggage. As we walk into the airport, the others will begin unpacking their luggage to also check in at curbside.
At this time DH, DD & I will go directly to our flight.
The other 4 will find somewhere to have a bite to eat. Until our flight boards. We don't want to take any chances that DD will catch a glimpse of any of them.

To be cont...

OH NO about the roof! that's terrible! why didn't they get the tarp down? the weather is reported daily! how did they NOT know it was going to rain!!!
I love the nails! I love the curls... I do like curls!!! :hippie:

I just typed a huge update and lost it. :scared1:

So, this will be the condensed version.

Yes stinks about the roof, but they are handling it. The roofers spent the day tearing down sheet rock, & insulation. Treated the damp wood. Inspected for mildew/mold. And took the measures of ensuring none will appear.
Instead of taking down just the damaged sheet rock, they are redoing the entire wall, and the entry way to the room.
A town permit was pulled and it has to be signed off on after completion of the job, by the building inspector. So, I'm sure this will all be done by the book.

Now, on to the trip related update.

As I said, I am going to make it short so here's the low down.....

you all remember my addiction...no ... other than disney.

Well, I went shopping yesterday. Pictures to come later. :)

Also, I shipped the goodie bags. I did get a couple of pictures of those as well, but I will have to be careful what I post, so as not to let noisy DD in on any secret goodies.

I tried to confirm resort reservations (not that I have ever had a problem), but will be calling back later for that.

Reminder that I will fill in on later, and yes, although it doesn't seem it neccessarily, it is trip related...

1 triplet graduated college in May...already had party & got his gifts from us.
2nd triplet to complete college tomorrow.
3rd triplet to complete college in December.

I will post more later, but must go for now.

 Hello from Virginia! I'm at my DD's waiting for the arrival of our 6th grandchild. This is the first i've been on the DIS for quite a while. Just wanted to say I like the curls, but then, my hair is so thin, I would give quite a bit to have something like yours...even though it's a pain. My DD #1 has naturally curly hair and I spent many years talking her off the ledge when she was having a bad hair day due to the humidity Ohio "enjoys". :rotfl:

Sounds like a well thought out plan for the bd surprise. I hope all goes smoothly and as planned. Can't wait to hear all about it and maybe see a video?

Well, it's just around the corner, so I know you're getting super excited. Kudos for keeping the secret. With so many family members knowing, it was a miracle someone didn't accidentally let it slip. I'll try to get back on in a few days. The 3 grandkids here are keeping me busy and I'm loving every (well almost every) minute.

ETA: I really hope your DH is feeling better by now!

Prayers the arrival of #6 goes smoothly. And hopefully by now you are holding he/she in your arms. :)
Yes, curly hair is a blessing and a curse. As is straight. lol

yes super excited. no kudos until all is unsaid & done. :rolleyes1

Yes, DH is feeling better. His finger is still very sore, but virus seems out of his system. Now he is just very weak. Now DD#1 has ear and sinus infection. Better now than when we are flying!

Thanks for checking in and saying hello!
