Typically, how long do you have to wait in line for a very popular ride if you have a FP+ for it?

Not long at all...about 15 minutes.

****

When you come upon anomalies, it can be much longer. But those are usually due to ride breakdowns earlier in the day.

2 Saturdays ago, we has 2FP for Buzz and 4 for space mountain at the same time.

My daughter and I were in and out lf buzz and through the FP kiosks for a 4th FP before the rest of my family boarded a rocket ship on Space. We think it was down earlier in the day. Standby was over 2 hours andonger than mine train. My husband said they were putting FP riders through both sides (haven't been on in a very long time so not sure what that means) to her more FP folks through. Took over 30 minutes.

Unusual to wait more than 15-20 minutes, and usually not close to that long. Answers to FP FAQs like yours can be found in the green link in my signature.

Usually it's 5 mins or so, but occasionally we have run into a 15 min wait (on our last trip, this only happened for 7DMT).

Most waits were 5 minutes or less in FP lines last week. Enchanted Tales had an issue and we waited there more like 20-25 minutes, but that was unusual. If a big tour group hits the line just in front of you, it will take a lot longer. At Test Track, we watched CMs holding arms out to ward off a large group of teen girls about to swarm the FP line so that one last family heading that way could get in line in front of them. It tickled me.

As others have said, my wife waited about 5-10 minutes last week. 7dmt was a little longer.

I think it all depends on the ride, how it's loaded and the volumes/break downs as mentioned above. Soarin still took us some time to get on for example (ie 15 -20 mins) but 7DMR was about 5.

Our longest wait in the FP+ line was 20 minutes for Kilimanjaro Safari last February.

Everything else (TSMM, Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, ToT) was about a 5-10 minute wait, and most of them were complete walk-ons (Star Tours, Mission: SPACE, Spaceship Earth, DINOSAUR).

Our 2 longest waits last week were BTM and Soarin. Soarin just takes a while to load and we just missed getting on the ride in front of us. In total it took about 30 minutes. WE rode BTM on 2 different days for FP. One day it took about 5 minutes. The other day it took almost 30. There was a huge line just to scan our bracelets. Splash was down for most of the day so I'm not sure if they were letting people with FP's for that ride use them on BTM.

Our two longest in November were Everest (had broken down for an hour earlier in the day) at 15-20 minutes & Soarin' at 15 minutes because of missing the cut off and how it's loaded.

Most were walk on - 5 minutes for us. Pirates, Thunder, Splash, Test Track etc.

We've experienced everything from literal walk-on to about 15 minutes for the safari. I'd say it averages out to about 5 minutes.

ETA: OH, I did forget our one bad experience. The only semi-valuable (we thought) 4th FP+ we were able to get in December was for Mickey. When we went to redeem our FP+, the posted SB wait time was 25 minutes. We waited that long with our FP+. We were so mad. That was an anomaly though. The CM managing the Mickey reader really didn't seem to know what he was doing.

Most of the return lines I used were real quick. Buzz Light Year for some reason had real troubles and took a long time. It was still shorter than the standby line.

Even over XMAS not long, in particular I remember TOT we always walked all the way up to near the hotel entrance (although we didn't try right after Fantasmic) if not into the entrance, RNR we always walked up and into the building which is just waiting for the preshow, TSM was nearly a walk on but we only did that once7DMT a few times as well-this was always a walk into the building/que which is just a few minutes, BTMRR always seemed a bit longer but still just minutes to the "merge" line, Space was always all the way up to the short boarding line to the right, Splash nothin, Soarin the walk to the 2nd FP+ was zero wait-but then the wait for the show seemed about 2 or 3 shows worth, TT was longer both times-but still mostly just a wait to get into the design room.

Oh and one night BTMRR was down so we just went to Space and it was still not bad.

Heh, the comments about the rollercoasters being 'broken down' is concerning. (I know rationally it's most likely no big deal.)

We got pretty backed up at Enchanted Tales with Belle, of all things. lol We waited over 20 minutes with our fp+.

I would say on average 10 minutes or less. The ones that I've noticed being longer are Test Track, Soarin, Tower of Terror, and Kilamenjaro(sp?) Safari. But still normally less than 20 minutes or so.
