My fiance and I have NEVER been to a WDW water park. I know it's hard to believe, but I'm, well a little prissy (the first step is admitting it) and my fiance isn't crazy about the idea (he's not prissy) for some reason.

Well, after watching a water park show on the Travel Channel, I'm obsessed with going. My fiance wants to go as well, but though we're experts in theme parks, resorts, and restaurants, we are water park novices.

I've re-read the water park section in all of my books (Birnbaum, Unofficial, Passporter, etc.), but I'd like some advice from water park pros. We'll surely be taking taxis both ways, so transportation isn't an issue.

ANY tips or suggestions are needed. Is it hard to secure a chair? What do you do with your belongings (locker?)? Best to go in the later afternoon? Thanks in advance!

The eternal question: TL or BB?

BB has some bigger slides.

TL has (MUCH IMHO) better landscaping and some darn good slides.

I like TL better, but Summit Plummet at BB is the fastest of all the WDW water park slides.

We go to both, we love both !!!

BUT.......if I were going.........two adults - no kids - I would pick TL.

The landscaping alone is worth the ticket. Nice just to walk around. I do think it has more privacy than BB. Tropical vs the Cartoon feel.

The WAVE pool is an experience that while a little rough for young kids, you will enjoy.

Go to the Shark Reef, go early when less crowded and less sediment is stirred up.

Get there at opening if possible, get yourselves some lounges and leave your towel, cooler, lotion, shoes etc. RENT a small locker for your room key, money, credit cards. Take a couple water proof cameras, you can take them on the slides and in the Shark Reef. Ask folks to take your photos at some pretty spots and under waterfalls, we have gotten some great pics.

Both have slides and lazy river. So equal fun. Difference is theme and wave pool.

Look at going to the waterparks just like you would going to a theme park. Get there when the gates open, one of you go secure chairs while the other goes and gets a locker. Personally I don't use a locker. We take a large beach bag with towels and snacks I put our tickets and cash in a baggie and put in my zippered swimsuit pocket. Ride the slides until you get tired of climbing steps and then either go to the lazy river or pool, or get something cool to drink and rest in a chair..Lines get long at BB after an hour and a half or so after opening. At TL I've had days where lines were long after a couple of hours and other times when the lines never really got bad. They are both very cool water parks, TL seems to be alot more laidback atmospherewise. BB has better slides. BTW the times I've gone has been last week of May into the first week of June..

About the snorkeling... Do you buy your own snorkel and mask or do they rent them there.
I dont know if I would like a rented one:( I would buy one if there not going to cost me an arm and a leg though!
and how about these sharks? They have got to be pretty small.
Anyone know more about this?

There is no fee for using the vest/snorkel/mask. The snorkel and mask are treated in chemicals - you can see them doing it for yourself. I do suggest that when you first get in - after your intro - put your face down in water and make sure your snorkel is not leaking. Our son's leaked last time but he didn't say anything and halfway through he was choking.

The sharks are small, about 3 feet maximum. They stay on the bottom and I have never seen them swim up where the people are. You are not permitted to dive down. The sting rays and some fish swim high. Believe me, my family snorkels in the ocean and I'm the first one running on water to get away from something, but Shark Reef is totally enjoyable to me.

Take waterproof cameras, if you go before the sediment is stirred up you can get some great underwater pictures !

For 2 adults, go with TL. Get a chair over by the wave pool.:D
