Which waterpark is best for a 4 year old child? Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach? I don't know which one to do.

And yet another vote for BB, no contest at all. I'm 27 and still remember as a little kid being terrified by the wave pool at TL. I will take BB any day, especially for a younger child!

We LOVE TL, but i agree that the waves are pretty scary! even for an adult. BB is probably best for a 4 yr old.

Blizzard beach has the two kids areas. But the one is for a bit older kids that are already swimming. The little kids areas are similar between the two of them.
The family slide at TL is far more tame than the one at BB.
Blizzard beach's pool is gentle lapping waves. It can hardly even be called a wave pool. TL's waves can be huge. But there are areas off to both sides where the waves aren't big where people have their little kids.

BLIZZARD BEACH, why?
- The kids area Little Tikes was part of the original plan and well thought/laid out.
- The kids area is just across a bridge from the main dining, the lockers, the under 12 set area.
- The kids area is wide open with great visibility.
- The kids area is close to the lazy river.
- The kids area is it's own space with no reason for anyone to come through it.
- Lazy river (which they both have).
- The family raft ride is a blast.
- The wave pool is calm and enjoyable.
- The "cartoon" theme is great for young kids.

Why I don't think Typhoon Lagoon?
- The kids area evolved from an original very tiny afterthought.
- The kids area is to the side of a main path with lots of traffic and exits.
- The kids area is on every visit of mine, chaos. You can't blink or they are gone.
- Wave pool is very rough and even knocks down the biggest of adults.
- The lush shipwreck theme is great, but lost on young kids.
- I feel like the park is way more work for parents with young ones.

If the OP's previous posts are accurate, their arrival day is Oct. 4, so TL is the only water park option.

Here's another vote for Blizzard Beach. We did both parks last week, and I far preferred BB over TL.

I found the wave pool very intimidating. It goes off with a 6 foot wave every 90 seconds for 90 minutes straight, then it has 30 minutes of bobbing waves. The 90 minutes of intense waves is just that, intense. I stayed all the way in the back for a good while and was still getting pushed back. BB pool was relaxing. The waves in the shallow area would be fine for a 4 year old.

I also found the sitting areas at BB to be better. We got a spot right in front of the pool, whereas at TL, there are very few seating areas near the big pool. We were really far away from our stuff for most of the day. There were also nice seating areas near the kids section as well. We walked through it just to get an idea of the layout of the place. I didn't care for all of the sand at TL either. It seemed I couldn't get away from it. It was at every area I tried to get chairs at. At BB, we got under a canopy that was just regular cement. They also didn't have enough of the showers to rinse off the sand at TL.

I really don't like the sand at the hotel pools either. I really like Beach Club, and would consider booking our next trip there, but the sand in the pool and all around really bothers me. I feel like even after how much we rinse out our suits and shoes and shower afterwards, I still feel sand on the floors and in the sheets when I'm back at the hotel room. LOL.

We stayed one night at Hard Rock Hotel at Universal and I thought I'd love the pool there, but once again, hated it because the sand and we thought the pool was too shallow.

I like BB in general and it's better for kids, but Smitch is looking out for you and it looks like TL is your only option. They were having some issues with some of the plumbing at BB anyway.

Yep. If I wanted sand I'd go to the beach instead of a pool.

If you take the kid to TL take video in the wave pool during the wave. It will be great for future child embarrassment. That thing knocks me on my rear.

To add to this - the family raft ride at TL sucks. That's pretty much the nicest way to put it.

Now, Crushin Gusher at TL is one of our favorite rides in all of WDW. Loads of fun!! But, it requires a minimum height of 48" IIRC. Shark Reef is another great attraction that just isn't real kid-friendly.

Yes I'll go with you on this. After years of BB I convinced the family to try TL again. After waiting a crazy amount of time for this, I am sure my face was priceless, are you kidding me? The tube slides in the kids Ski Patrol at BB were more fun. Way too much work for way too little.

Oh and they said NEVER AGAIN.

We thoroughly enjoyed both parks. We aren't big on wave pools so I suppose the fact that TL's wave pool is scary didn't bother us much. Our kids were 6 & 9 and rode the Crush & Gusher about 6 times. The lazy river is great, as are the raft ride and some of the other slides that are tamer than the Crush & Gusher (can't remember their names though). If you could only choose one, for a 4yo it sounds like BB might be better, but if BB is closed during your stay you can still have a great time at TL.
