For anyone interested in Surfing Lessons at Typhoon Lagoon- I signed up (surprised) my DD17 with surfing lessons, other then having to be there at 5:45am she had an wonderful time.

There was a nice variety of people in the class. I think it was 10 students over all, ranging from a 10 yr old boy to a 55-60ish gentleman. There were 3 girls in the class including my DD.

It was very organized, they had 3 instructors from Coco Beach Surfing School. First they went over the basics on land then everyone took turns in the wave pool. 2 students in the water at the same time, each person gets two trys then they go back in line for the next turn.

If you have any other questions, please let me know.

How do you book it? Do you call TL direct? How much? How long is the lesson? Can other family members swim while waiting? If the weather doesn't cooperate can you get a refund?

how did your DD do? was she surfing by the end of it? I want to do this but always think that a one off lesson won't do me any good and that I need a week somewhere.

More details please.... my DD wants to do this on our Feb. trip, she will be almost 12 then and is a very strong swimmer (swims across the lake at her camp). How did the 10 yr. old boy do that day? Do they make you leave when the park opens or can you then spend the day?

Sorry it took me so long to answer some of these questions.

The 10yr old did great, and everyone cheered him on. I am not sure if it is available in Feb. They walk you out of the park, then you can turn around and come back in.

PUNKIN

She was surfing, after the 2 1/2 hours she was able to get up on her board and stay on it for the wave. I think that if you are just looking for the basics this is a great chance, but if you want to come out of it a good surfer you will probably want something more.

You book through Disney 407 WDW Play, $125 for 1 person. Family or friends can watch but not swim. Not sure about the refund, but I would think so...You give your charge card number when reserving a space but they do not charge you card until you arrive.

It really is a great program. I wrote a review based on my experience on Deb Wills site a couple of years ago. Here's a link to the review:
