I really want to fit in a half day at TL for DH and me on our May trip. It would either be Sat. or Sun. probably Sunday. Is it better for us to go first thing and leave after lunch, or to go to a park in the AM and go to TL for our afternoon "break"? When will the crowds be worse? I've heard that the water parks start to empty out around 2-3pm. What's your experience with this? TIA :sunny:

I like going in the morning and then leave for the parks for the rest of the day. Also, in May it seems like a lot of the rain is in the afternoon. When we were there in May of 1999, we would go to the water parks until they closed because of the rain (which only lasted 30 minutes or so).

If you are going at the weekend I would advise you to get there early, especially if the weather is hot, it can get very busy at weekends.

I've always gone in the morning and then left after lunch time. For me it always seems to be busier after lunch. You can always go in a park for late afternoon and the evening or hang around the pool at your hotel.

But sometimes it can be chilly in the morning and only warm up from like 11-3.

If you are going on the weekend, better go first thing in the morning. They get very crowded later in the day, especially on weekends.

How crowded are the water parks from 4 to 6 in the afternoon. Is after an afternoon rain a good time to go? I am also going in May and trying to fit TL and BB into our schedule. The only time I can fit them in is later in the afternoon over Memorial Day week end and I am wondering how crowded they will be?

MommyPoppins, I thought I read you were a Tourguidemike subscriber. He has a whole article on that, have you read it?

Holiday weekend = crowded. period.
I suppose if you didn't mind the rain (as long as there wasn't lightening with it - Don't want anyone deep fried to a crisp crackley crunch!) the crowds would be a lot lighter.

I would plan on morning. I know in the late summer there are often afternoon thunderstorms.

I've found water parks (all over) tend to get empty in the late afternoon. If you tihink you can get a whole day's worth of enjoyment out of a few hours, I'd go then. I liked the intense couple of hours better than the whole day of lines and the like.
