We were planning a day at the water park because we heard that it can be a highlight of the trip for kids. Plus we thought it might provide a good break from the parks mid-trip.

I have to admit, the cheap part of me wants to skip the $100.00 in tickets. Especially if the kids will be almost as happy in the hotel pool.

On the other hand, if kids their age generally have a fantastic time there, I don't want to miss it.

Has anyone else taken kids that young there? What was your experience? Should I do the water park or do DTD/hotel pool that day?

Thanks!!!

We took my son there when he was 2 and I think it was the highlight of his trip. He must have went up and down one of the kiddie slides at least one hundred times and absolutely loved the other kid areas. I would highly reccommend it.

First, I don't think you pay anything for the little guy...I think under 3 is free.

We took my son when he was 15 mo. and then again at 2.5 yrs. He loved it both times, of course he got to do more stuff at 2.5. They have a great kiddy area that they won't want to leave. Plus, don't forget, the trip is for you too - you'll have fun taking turns watching the kids and going on the slides, lazy river, etc.

We're going back in Oct. - to both water parks!

We spent 10-days with our 2.5 yo dd, almost 5 yo ds, and almost 13 yo ds at WDW in May. During our stay, we visited both water parks. All 3 children had fun at both water parks, but we found that there was far more for the younger ones to do at BB. In all honesty, the kids had just as much fun in our resort pools (AKL for 8 days and CSR for 2). If you want to save a little money, stick with the resort pool. I cannot tell you how many times my middle child rode the slides at the resort pools!! They probably were the highlight of his trip.

We've never been to BB, because we love TL so much! What is there for little ones to do at BB?

We visited TL in Nov 2003. My DS was 4 and my DD was 8 months. We had a blast! I wanted to go to Blizzard Beach b/c I've never been but it was closed for renovations. My DS had the time of his life- he was old enough and tall enough to go on many of the slides. I stayed behind with my DD while my DH took my son on the slides. My DS also loved the wave pool- it is not like traditional wave pools in that it has only 1, VERY MONSTROUS wave. He stayed in there almost the whole day! It was a nice break from the frantic pace of the parks. We always have to plan our vacations near a water park because my kids absolutely love them. I say do it! There will definitely be enough for your kids to enjoy. :cool1:

We took my sons to TL when they were 3 and 5. They LOVED it!! The kiddie area was a lot of fun. We also loved riding the "family ride" where we all rode together in a large tube.

But they also loved the pool and slide at the WL. Does you hotel have a kiddie pool (or zero entry) and a slide? If not then you might try the water park for something different.

We loved the water parks - our little kids included. But how much are you spending on your room? If you cut your reservation by one day and book a day at the Disney's Beach Club (you can rent DVC points from people somewhere on these boards) and play in the Boardwalk incredible amazing wonderous fantistic great and grand pools and have a relaxing day maybe for about the same $$. We stayed at the Beachclub for 2 days prior to our big WDW adventures and it was wonderful. It is a sand bottomed pool complex (check out the photos on the accomodation section of wdwinfo.com or allearsnet.com) and has one slide - a little kid slide, a lazy river, lots of shallow pool area and an awesome area for little kids. Once you've played in the pool until you wrinkle, you can wander over to the Boardwalk area. Rent a surry bike, ride the water taxis, and just enjoy the ambiance. Beaches & Cream is a fun little - really little - restaurant at the Beachclub.

Make sure you take the 5 yr old to SHark Reef and let him lay on a float while you swim across .. I bet he will love it

I love the idea of the Beach Club, good thinkin! Unfortunately, we are staying at ASmo with free dining for the week. Don't want to lose the free dining for the last day and it doesn't fit into our itinerary for our last day. Also can't stay for another day. What a great idea, though. Maybe we'll do that on our next trip!!

There's no slide at ASmo. Too bad we can't resort pool hop! That would solve the whole problem. Oh well, can't compain about the price and the free dining!!

Thanks for the opinions, guys. I'm still on the fence but may re-address the itinerary. That's what's fun about being flexible, right? :goodvibes

Can you really do that? When we were there in May we were told that our son would have to swim across by himself, we couldn't even hold his hand (yes they really said that) A float might have been a solution to that. I have to say the day we were there the CM's were a bit regimented, and not very helpful. My son didn't do it in the end, we will wait until he is a stronger swimmer.

Yes you can do that . If you ask at the counter were you get your masks and snorkels, they will give you an inflatable sled that has a plastic viewing window in it, All you do is put the child on it and tow them across. They use the window to look down in the water without having to swim. If you use this option i still recommend putting a life vest on them

The sled thing must be fairly new, we have swam with the sharks many many times, and have never seen it.
