Type 1 Diabetes & the World - July 2-9th ~ Bags pg 3

I booked 2 ADR's today.

7/2 - Arrival day at Hollywood Studios, 50's Prime time for early dinner. Not sure how long we'll last at the parks being arrival day and seeing as tho we need to get up at 3am to get to the airport. We've never eaten here but I've read reviews and saw some pics and it looks delicious! Lauren is quite the trickster too so I wonder how long it will take for her to end up on a time out!

7/7 - My birthday, and also the day we're going to the Grand Floridian for Tea... I booked breakfast at Crystal Palace. Early, before the parks open. I figured we can break to go to GF on the monorail and head back to MK for the night. I feel bad skipping some of the Conference this day but there aren't really topics that interest me, and I only turn 31 once. And I'll likely never have another birthday when I can sit by the Castle and watch Wishes with my princess. princess:

I'll get some pics together of my bag, but now I just got a new bag and I'm looking into padding it better for my camera!

Her hair is silly. In the winter it's kinda sorta wavy, but in the summer/humidity or after swimming it's curly Q's again! Me on the other hand, I had stick straight hair till I hit puberty then all of the sudden....HOLY AFRO! I get asked all the time what type of perm I get...ummmm thats all natural. LOL!

I can totally relate to your hair! I was born with ringlets (and people would stop my mom and ask her if my hair was natural -- because my mom thought it best to perm a two year old's hair? :confused3 People scare me. Sigh.). I've never had straight hair -- but my sister did. She always had the straight hair and then one day ... BAM, she got curls. And it wasn't the frizzy curls I have, she got gorgeous ones! :headache: Forever, I will be jealous of her hair. I have to work hard to not have frizzy hair. She does nothing and has always had gorgeous hair. (Hence, why I've been keeping it straight for the past few years.)

My DD had ringlets as a baby, but as she grew, it became waves. :guilty:

50s PTC is definitely one of my favorite places at WDW! :thumbsup2 Just don't have high expectations to get picked on (the servers are finicky, and not all are in character). That said, I felt the food was worth going back, again and again and again!

I don't blame you for skipping the conference (especially with no interesting topics) on your birthday! I'd LOVE to visit WDW on my birthday! That just won't happen (I've seen pictures of crowds during Christmas week ). You'll definitely have to let me know about the tea at GF! I almost booked this for me and my DD, but glad I cancelled, since I've yet to have a reasonably acceptable experience on the GF grounds. :thumbsup2 So I'd love to hear how awesome your tea party is, so I can live vicariously through you. :lmao:

Can't wait to see your bag! popcorn:: <~~hey, popcorn guy is back!

I posted on your other thread and took the link to this PTR, I am enjoying your thread and wanted you to know that this is helping me to see through the eyes of a parent how you manage your fears and coping with visiting WDW with a child who is a T1 DM, pumper.

I am looking forward to reading more of your journey.

I'm so glad people are reading! I was hoping this wouldn't go to waste and maybe I'd be able to help someone with my ramblings and ideas!

The pics you posted of 50's was the deciding factor that I really wanted to try it!

I have a feeling my birthday weeks is going to be massively insane as well, hopefully by the 7th the crowds for the 4th will have died down a bit! :scared:

Hello,
Just found your report. Children are darling! I am doing a long August trip with our good friends and their son is type 1 diabetec as well. He will be 8 on our trip. I know they are concerned about the insulin with the temperatures down there. Are you doing anything special to keep the insulin in the pump cool?

I don't think so. Lauren is VERY particular about what does and does not touch her body. She cannot wear certain socks without having a melt-down, certain shorts I've bought her she will not wear because of where a seam may fall on her. There is no way she'd allow anything to be around her stomach, like a belt to hold the pump, when she's wearing her pump it has to be clipped to her a specific way. I've always wondered if maybe she had a slight sensory issue.

Off to the zoo on this VERY chilly day! We had record 90's last week and now it's in the 50's. Chicago weather is so unpredictable!

Going to test out my 31bag today to see how it works for a park bag. I have a feeling I'm going to resort to my bagallini for DW!

The 31 bags are so pretty ... but they're HUGE! I ordered a Mini and called the girl up and said she brought me a Jumbo. She viewed the bag in person and said it was the Mini. I couldn't imagine how massive the full size bag was! :scared1: I now use it to carry my iPad and other random items if we're going to the drive-in or something. :lmao:

This is the small insulated bag from 31, This first picture is holding a trial run of what Lauren will carry onto the plane. The second picture shows all of the items out.

1 Juice Box
1 Individual Pretzels
1 Fruit Snacks
2 Infusion sets
2 Reservoir Kits
5 Pen Tips
1 Nova Log Pen
1 Nova Log Vial
1 Lantus Vial
I also threw about a half a box of alcohol wipes in the open pocket on the front.
1 Box of Extra (50) test strips
and Laurens "kit" which includes test strips, lancets, lancing device, meter & alcohol wipes.

There is still PLENTY of room for more, if we needed it. :)

Followed you over from my TR...

Your kids are precious. Looks like you have a great trip planned for you and your adorable DD. I love the insulated bag for Lauren too, so practical and girly too!

Looking forward to more plans!

They are, aren't they! Especially in pictures and when they're sleeping! :rotfl: Thank you! I need to get my other bags together and get pics :)

While we're down in Florida, I will get to see my biological Aunt for the second time. First time was 12 years ago. I was adopted when I was 11 days old. When I was 18 I found my biological mother. She was 17 when she had me (and sadly she passed away last August). I then found my bio-father. His sister and family all live within minutes of Disney. I flew down when I was 19 and met the whole family. We lost touch but found each other on facebook a few years back and chit chat now and again. I'm so very excited for Lauren to meet "extended family" and it's fun trying to explain who everyone is to her. I feel so blessed to have 2 families who love us!

had to jump over here from hubby Nebo's report. Rapunzel went to jacobs with both my son Jeremy and my DIL laura! we lived many years in ALg. and are now in Cville (empty nesters in a town house :sad2:.. hate town house living)
anyway, so happy to hear about biological families reuniting, as you know from nebo's TR, Jeremy (and all of us) reunited with with Jeremy's twin nephew's (our grandsons, and, if you knew Todd, his twin sons) God is great and answers prayers!!!

and, in the same vein (answered prayers) I will pray for your daughter, that God will help her out with her disease. He has already given her the best mom He could.!!! what a great mom, and great advocate for her. you are the BEST!!! and I hope you have a great trip!!::thumbsup2:cool1:dance3:

Thanks Smidgy!

In other news, I just added 2 extra days onto our vacation, we'll now be staying until 7/11. :woohoo:

Also, it seems like everytime I log onto Southwest.com my flights have lowered in price so I have just shy of a $300 credit with them. Have no idea what I'll do with it, maybe I can convince my mom we need to do another Mother/Daughter trip to Disneyland. We went for 9 years in a row together, the last year being my senior year in high school!

nothing puts a smile on your face more than adding extra days at disney!!!!!!:cool1:

$300 airfare credit.... I'm sure it won't go to waste!

One suitcase fully packed and ready to go!

It contains - Juice boxes (lots of em'), Cheeze-it's, a huge box of Multi-grain cherrios, Fruit Snacks, Skittles, 100calorie Brownie Bites and I'm sure I'm forgetting things, but it's packed...and it's ALL snacks. :rotfl2: To say I'm tad worried about blood sugars would be putting it mildly!
