Hey Creative DISign Board! I spent a long time this week working on making my shirts for my Thanksgiving Trip to WDW and wanted to share. Most of these are my personal DISigns (many of which I made specifically for this trip), but if it's from another DISigner, I'll let you know. :goodvibes

Quick note: I'm not posting these DISigns for anyone else to use until I return from my trip. Sorry, but sometimes it's nice to have a special DISign that's all yours and you know you get to wear first. :wizard:

We use Avery Light transfers for our hoodies and white shirts, Purple Chimp Glitter Transfers on a few shirts, and June Tailor Dark Transfers on most everything. The J. Tailor Dark Transfers were WONDERFUL! The glitter transfers were a little hard to work with. I recommend ironing LONGER than they say to and peeling pretty much immediately. If it sticks, stop, iron more, and try again. The Avery were the best light transfers I've used so far.

Enjoy my pics!

My sister & I made hoodies in 2009 for when it was cold, so this trip we made sister hoodies again. I added bling to mine. This is an original DISign "Scribble Minnie":

I tried to put a LGMH on all of my shirts this time. Both styles of the LGMH I personalize now. This is on the back of my hoodie:

We do family shirts for one day on each trip. This Mickey Head was from Milliepie. I just added the words, so it will not be available for customizing by me. (The sleeves are poofy kinda like a princess!)

This was a glitter transfer, and it's already in my Photobucket, and I DO personalize it NOW. It's called Stitch Painting Ears.

All images are my DISigns on this one. The back of the shirt is the only part I'm not sharing yet. (Hope you all can understand why I'm waiting to share them. They'll be available soon!)

This one is a combination of the separate Aladdin and Jasmine DISigns I personalize. I love Twilight but Aladdin was my original fictional crush! I ironed it on super crooked accidently, but it doesn't look too bad on.

This shirt is one of my absolute favorites. I'll share the artwork later. I love this scene from Lilo & Stitch, and yet it was technically in the credits!

This one's another combination of lots of DISigns that I currently personalize. Because it would take so long and have so many variations, I won't ever be able to personalize this for others, but you're welcome to view my DISign thread and request a certain character by a name. :hippie:

For my January 2009 trip, Kari aka rumblytumbly personalized this one for me. Something about the fabric contents of the shirt made the brown bleed through some, but the idea behind it is still there.

I also made pillowcases for me (left), my niece (middle), and my nephew (right) and an extra (top) with leftover designing stuff. They were from a previous thread someone else requested. I believe donatalie did the one on the right, BayouMickey did the middle, and RustManFan did the one on the left. Top is mine again.

Whoa. Sorry for the LONG post. Hopefully my sister, txmommy34, will post her's soon too. I did a lot more NEW stuff for them than I did for me, including a Buzz Lightyear I'm dying to show y'all. :cutie: Hope y'all enjoyed seeing the fruits of my labors! Thanks to everyone on the boards who helped get me into DISigning and who have shared their DISigns to help make everyone's WDW Trips more magical! :cheer2:

WOW! They all look so great! Have a fabulous time on your trip and it is so magical for you to make this trip extra special for your family!

Awesome shirts!

We're going to be there 11/19 - 11/27. Don't know when you're going to be there but I'll know it's you if I see one of these shirts!

Love all of the stuff you have made. I'll be using some of your stuff again this year. I really appreciate your sharing it with us. :goodvibes

Hopefully my sister, txmommy34, will post her's soon too.

Family Thanksgiving Day shirts (Mine is a different color, bc I found one I liked better than the plain Hanes one. It matches Joanna's with the ruffled sleeves.)

This was a lot of work, but so much fun to do with my sister! Can't wait to wear them in 20 DAYS!!!!

Thank you for all the sweet compliments! This is the 2nd year that we made all our shirts for our trip, and we had so much fun making them! Excited to wear them all!

(Oh, and I think it's awesome that this thread inspired someone to go buy some bling for their shirts! Everything is more fun when it sparkles! :wizard:

How did you put the bling on the shirts? What do you buy?
I have never done this before, but I have the perfect design to do this with for my shirt and my sisters.
Thank you for the help!!
Your shirts and disigns are awesome!!
Debbie

Thanks! :goodvibes We went to the craft store (JoAnn's near us or Michael's) and looked in the t-shirt crafting area. There's a whole lot of jewels and iron on jewel designs. First off, we bought the loose heat-set jewels. They were in a pink and clear round container. You can buy all clear or mixed colors like this. I believe they were Tulip brand. There are also more expensive jewels that claim to be Swarovski that are available in individual colors. I used those for the red on my sweatshirt, but my sister used the red from the Tulip ones, and both look great no matter what.

Then we got the heat-set tool. Ours is red and again by Tulip, but I've seen the exact same thing in pink with another brand. It's a handheld tool, run by batteries, that looks like it has the head of a nail on it. It heats very hot, and you put the flat end on each jewel for 8-10 seconds to heat-set it.

A few tips (this is super easy to do, but learn from us :cutie:):
1. The jewels stay better in the long run if they've got shirt material to stick to (not just iron on transfer). However, the only time mine have come off is in the dryer, so if you hang to dry, you'll be fine.
2. When you heat-set the jewels, the glue can stick your shirt together, so we use a cutting board inside the shirt to stop this from happening. It also helps give you a firmer surface to work on. (Even better, use a cutting board with parchment paper on top of it to keep the shirt from sticking to the cutting board.)
3. Be super careful. If the heat tool touches your shirt, it can scorch it! We had to be even more careful on the sweatshirt because they were more fluffy than a t-shirt.
4. I heat set by sight. I get close enough to actually see when the glue "gooshes" out a bit and I know the glue melted enough to make the jewel set. My sister can't see that for some reason, so she counts carefully. Trial and error really. Do one, let it cool, and carefully try to pick it off with your fingernail. If it stays, it's set. Use that number to count to. If it moves or comes off, set it again, and count longer. My sister did some too long, and her shirt stuck to the cutting board! Worked out ok in the end.

Have fun! Would love to see your finished shirts!

Joanna, your shirts are wonderful, both yours and your sisters! Have a great trip! They really are special!

Will you also be posting the images you made for your sister's shirts when you return? I was looking in your photobucket for the Disney/Marvel mickey and minnie, and the black castle with buzz lightyear but didn't find them.

Thanks for your creativity!

Sure will! We just wanted to be the first to get to wear those. I'll post them either the day before we leave or soon after we return. :goodvibes They'll go in my DISign thread. When is your trip?

Sounds great! I'm sure you'll both get lots of compliments on your shirts. My trip is not until June 2nd. But my boys only like Star Wars, pirates and Toy Story shirts, so the cool image of Mickey with the phaser gun immediately caught my eye as a shirt they'd love to wear. I've got oodles of time.

Hi Joanna,
Hope you had a wonderful trip to Disney, welcome back!

Did you get a chance to upload your tshirt designs from your trip to Photobucket? I've been searching but can't find the Minnie Widow and Mick Fury from your sister's shirts. Just checking in. Thanks so much!
