Friday:
I encountered some slight delays via plane. The first plane was delayed for several minutes due to weather. MCO only had one runway open for takeoff. My plane had several others ahead of it. D'oh! At that time, no electronic devices could be used, so I was BORED. I just skimmed through one of the on-flight mags. :bored:

The flight eventually took off and it was a smooth flight to NC. :) I was Concerned, as we landed at 715p. My connecting flight was scheduled for departure at 730. I HAULED from my gate to where my connecting flight would be. Luckily, it was not very far. I made it to the next gate by 725p, only to find that the plane was delayed 30 mins. This is good, as it gave me a chance to call Ad & let her know I'd be arriving later than expected. Also, it gave me a chance to get some quick grub. Airport food is STUPIDLY EXPENSIVE. $7 for a hotdog, fries, & a drink? Freaking hades.

The next flight took off with no problem and minimal delay. When I arrived in TX, I received an *openfieldtacklehug* Really, I should have expected that. It was quite nice, honestly--not quite the kind of thing you see in the movies/TV, but very close, IMO. :love2:

We had a party to go to, as one of Adrienne's friend's son was being deployed to Iraq. It was a good time.

Saturday: Ad & I went to her house. I must say, there are a LOT of brick buildings--houses, stores, schools, etc. It gave an interesting/old-style look. Her house was quite nice. We hung out for a while, as Ad had Things to Do at her house. I got to meet her mom & her sister at that time.

When she was ready, Ad & I went to downtown Ft. Worth. Downtown Ft. Worth was boring, imo. Ad forewarned me that Ft. Worth would not be as scenic as downtown Denver. This was true. We still had a good time walking around. Some pics were taken, but not many. The weather was great. It didn't rain at all. It was hot, yes, but drier than FL is, which made it not that bad overall. :)

We left Ft. Worth, got some lunch, and headed back to Ad's place. We both were kinda tired, so we ended up napping for a bit. We were considering a movie, but we ended up skipping out on that and heading to Starbucks. It just so happens to be a hangout that Ad frequents.

We met a few of Ad's friends, and then eventually headed back to her house for dinner. I got to meet her dad at this time. From there, we went and found a room and just rested/relaxed.

Sunday: Mostly uneventful. We got up late and ended up back at Starbucks. It was relaxing. When it was time, we headed for the airport.

Now here come the Airport Antics!!!

We arrive at the airport and find out my flight's been delayed. I don't think I've had a flight that *wasn't* delayed. We check online to see what gate I'd arrive at, approx arrival time, and where I have to go to. I was expecting to have to HAUL upon landing in Miami. Whee. We said our goodbye, which wasn't as tearful as Denver, and I headed to my gate. :sad1:

It wasn't until the plane took off that I actually tanked. I had to put my hat over my face and let it go. The plane was huge--a 777. I got to watch Blades of Glory for free during the flight. Amazingly, we landed on time (10p, not 1015p that was scheduled). I was able to my gate with ample time, only to find my flight delayed. Again. :headache:

But the Antics don't stop there! Not only was my flight delayed (this allowed me to get some food),but once everyone boarded, the flight was even further delayed. For some unknown reason, there was a massive amount of luggage that needed to be loaded on to the plane. The original departure was supposed to be 1030p. It was bumped to 1055p. When the plane finally took off,it was around 1130p. I arrived in Orlando at 1215a.

Baggage claim was ridiculous. It took waaaaaaaaaay too long to get the luggage unloaded. When I finally got my luggage, it was 1240a. My dad was around to pick me up. but so was everyone and their motherfather. Seriously, the pick-up area was so congested with cars, it was insane! It took at least 10 mins just to get out of the pick-up area.

But that's not all! My dad was going to take the 528, which leads very closely to where I live. One problem: the exit was coned off, so there was no way to get on to the 528. We ended up going down Semoran for a very long time. There was little-no signage on the road. ***. We would eventually see a small 408 sign, which is what was taken. 408 ->I-4 ->528 ->my main road. This tacked an additional 30 mins to the trip, which should've only taken 30 mins. Oy. :headache:

I finally arrived home at 145a. I had to unpack and whatnot, and didn't get to sleep until 230a. It wasn't pleasant coming into the house and seeing blood all over your floor. My poor old dog seems to have injured herself and has been spotting/bleeding from where her tumor is. :( I don't expect her to last much longer in her current condition. :(

so darkie, did you like her parents?

i hope the doggie is better today.

Hope your 'hound is hanging in there:thumbsup2

Evidently, air travel is rebounding - it's a zoo anymore. Always hard to leave loved ones behind.

Never thought about it before, don't think i saw ANY brick blgs. in Orlando other than American Pavillion @ Epcot:confused:

Up north, you pay primo $ for a brick house:) ...remember the 3 'lil pigs story.;)

Old pup is surviving, no bleeding the past two days.

Mac-Her mom wasn't bad, kinda kooky (weird). Her dad was a bit of a stiff--not talkative. So no, it was nothing like "Meet the Parents".

And her meeting mine in Oct will be nothing like "Meet the Fockers".

agree w/ mac on this one :lmao:

glad you had a great trip....always a little intimidating to meet the family & friends.... :scared:

sometimes when you book the cheap airfare, stuff like that happens. We did the "connecting" thing once or twice and the nail in the coffin was flying from MCO to Ohio (Cincinnati i think) and being stuck there cuz of weather for hours....then to PHL. We could have drove 9/10ths of the way home by the time we actually flew into PHL. That was it. We paid extra for direct flight from there on out. ....but, if you are watching your pennies, you have to do what you can.....

hopefully the Oct trip will go good for her, and she won't have the flight problems you did.

sorry to hear about your :dog: it's very sad....but if an older dog, has had a good life..... it breaks your heart to see your pet like that.....i had to let our cat go last summer before our trip....still makes me cry to this day...but i know the time was right, she was ready and i did right by her.

Did you go to Six-Flags over Texas there in the Ft.Worth/Dallas area? That is one of the better Six-Flags, they have several really good coasters and a decent Batman Gotham City area with Mr. Freeze and Batman the ride. Very decent by non-Universal standards but of course no Universal.

darkie, those pics were super kewl..
and i like how you ended it with the 2 of you.
thanks for sharing them, even though you were late.....

spidey, i go on the mr freeze ride in the st louis six flags.
yes, it is super
wish universal would have that one.

only thing, six flags sometimes uses the same name of a ride (such as mr. freeze) and it is a different ride depending on the park it is in.

batman ride in st louis is way better than the batman in chgo/gurnee park.

Yep, there are several supermans as well. And I've seen a pretty cool looking Batman/Robin twin coaster that looks pretty cool, can't remember which one that's at. And theres the Riddler in LA but it wasn't there when I was there last, that looks cool.
