Two's a Party, Let's Hope Four's not a Crowd- Update 11/15 FINALLY!

I love how excited Halie was about the outfit and bows!!! How cute! I'm loving the TR! Especially all the video!

It was a struggle to get her to wear those bows, but she got so many compliments on her hair everyday, I think she realized I was right. ;)

Oooh, I just found your trip report, and really enjoying it!! :cool1:

You're such a lovely auntie!! I have to admit, I don't think I would have been so patient in some of the situations you found yourself in!

I kinda hope that in one of the next chapters, Chad gets to make something he really wanted to do, and you all say, "That has to go in the trash!" I don't think I would have spoken to him the whole day after that shirt incident! Poor Halie. :sad2:

Anyway, on a happier note...

image0025.jpg

I like your flip-flops! Are they Crocs? Or something else?

Looking forward to hearing the rest! As long as Chad perks up a bit. ;)

Hey, where have you been? Waiting to here more about your trip!

I'll post today! Thanks for the reminder!

The t-shirt incident was bad. But I don't want you to think he was grouchy the whole time. He had his moments, which I knew he would before I took him. I just wanted him to have the opportunity to take a nice vacation with his daughter while she was still young. You're going to have to read one more really bad incident with him, and then it all gets better. :goodvibes

As for the flip flops they are crocs! I love them. Most comfy flip flops ever!!!

Thank for reading!

Day 4: June 23, 2008- Pirate Cruise!

Today Halie and I had to be up bright and early to meet Jen at the GV to go on the pirate cruise. I knew Halie was going to have a hard time waking up so I filled up the whirlpool tub for her to bathe in. I figured it would make it more fun for her. It helped that Tinkerbell brought her a new Disney washcloth to use that day! It worked like a charm, Halie got up excited to use the giant tub!

After getting Halie ready we headed to the GV. I delivered the 4 pirate shirts for Jen’s girls and they quickly put them on. Jen had also bought the girls eyepatches and earrings to wear. Then we were on our way. When we pulled up to the toll booth at the MK I put on a pirate patch.

b241c67f.jpg

I said to the guy at the booth, “Arrrgh, we be on our way to the pirate cruise at the GF!” He let us through for free to head on to the GF. We used Jen’s DDE card to valet at GF. Then we made the long walk to the marina. The girls were instantly BFFs! Halie loved Jen’s daughters!

Once we got to the marina, Jen checked the girls in.

Sunscreen time!
P6220266.jpg

Then they got a life jacket and a pirate Mickey bandana. The bandana lady was pretty rude to the girls and kind of made me mad. I don’t remember specifics but it was enough that I have a note about it written in my trip report notes. After the girls got all fixed up, we took a billion pictures.

Jen and I wanted to be pirates too!

Off they go!

Here is a video of the morning

After having Kali promise to help Halie keep track of her digital camera, I allowed Halie to take her camera on the cruise. So here are really quality pictures that Halie took of their Pirate adventure.

Lunchtime!
PICT0119.jpg

PICT0124.jpg

Poor Lainey wasn’t old enough to go on the cruise. Instead she got to go to breakfast with Jen and I. This breakfast was the world’s hardest thing to plan for some reason. First, just the three of us were going to 1900 PF. Then Melissa was going to join us. Then Melissa wasn’t joining us. Then we were going to Kona and James, Rob, and Chad were coming. Then they weren’t coming. Then just the three of us were going to Kona. Finally we decided for just the three of us to go to the Poly and eat at their counter service.

We took the monorail to the Poly. This is when Lainey decided that she needed to push her own stroller. This was probably Jen’s favorite part of the day. Right Jen?

P6220287.jpg

P6220288.jpg

We went to Captain Cook’s to eat. This is a really neat CS. You order your meal on a touch screen. Lainey kept pushing the buttons though! Good thing she’s so cute! How could you get mad at a face like that?! I was very excited to try the Tonga Toast. So I got Tonga Toast with bacon and a cup of water.

Captain Cook’s
$6.60

Tonga Toast
P6220289.jpg

I have to say it. Tonga Toast is nasty. I thought it was very greasy. I know people love it. It reminded me of a Krispy Kreme donut (which I also don’t like) because when you take a bite you could feel oil squish out just like Krispy Kreme. I kinda just picked the banana filling out and ate it. I will never get it again.

As we finished up eating, Jen and I called Kim. We decided to go outside so we could put her on speakerphone and brag about being in WDW together without her. Love ya Kim! While we were on the phone with Kim, the funniest thing happened. Lainey climbed up on to the table and started singing, Don’t ya wish your girlfriend was hot like me?” I thought I was going to die laughing. I quickly informed Kim of the things that Jen is obviously teaching her poor children. Then Lainey says, “Bow chicka bow wow!” I thought I was going to die!!! OMG! She is so cute!

We finished up talking to Kim and then headed back to the GF. I stopped on the way and bought myself a dole whip ($3.08). They have self serve dole whip at the Poly! How awesome is that!?!

We got back to the GF and waited for our little pirates to come back. We spent our time talking about DVC and how great it is. Lainey also kept us very entertained!

After awhile the pirates returned! They had an okay time. The older three girls age 7 and up thought it was a little babyish for them. They gave it one thumb up. The youngest one who I think is 4 (correct me if I’m wrong Jen) loved it! Two thumbs up from her!

If you want to hear their thoughts click here.

After the cruise we went back to Jen’s GV. The girls wanted to stay together and play, but I knew Halie needed a nap and much more important, I needed a nap! So we went back to our room with a promise to the girls that we’d see them that night for Illuminations.

When we got to the room, Halie and went straight to the master bedroom to sleep. Chad and Rob went to Wal-Mart, brought the stuff back, and went to MGM while we were sleeping.

Lastly, here is a video that I call, “Can I see?” It was from when we were waiting for the girls to return from the cruise.

Up next: Coral Reef, Illuminations, and the “Night of the Margaritas!”

:rotfl2:
I'm reposting my trip report that I've started on TGM here due to some requests from a few DIS buddies. The nice thing about posting it there first is that now I have several days done to post right away. Beware though, there are references to TGM people that none of my DIS friends will know. Just skip over those parts! :thumbsup2

On with the pre-trip!

The Cast of Characters:

Krista, 26- I’m a total TGM and Disney addict. I teach 4th and 5th grade on a loop and I’m currently working on my Master’s in Administration so I can run the school. I recently started teaching myself to sew and I’ve made Halie a couple things to wear on this trip.

P7140139-1.jpg

Rob, my DH, 26- Rob is a wonderful husband who used to just tolerate my love for Disney, but I’m becoming more and more convinced that he likes it just as much as I do. He’s a thrill ride fan, and will be glad to have my brother along to ride ToT with. While I’m obsessed with WDW, Rob is obsessed with WoW, World of Warcraft for the uninitiated. It’s an online computer game that consumes peoples’ lives. While I plan Disney trips, my husband plays WoW. Thank God we have two computers! Rob is also a teacher, middle school PE, and he recently got a job at one of the high schools as an assistant football coach.

P7220940-1.jpg

Chad, my brother, 27- Chad is a great father to Halie. He works for my dad’s construction company and also flips houses with one of our cousins. My brother and I are off and on. We grew up the best of friends.

scan0067.jpg

Then we pretty much hated each other through middle school and high school. Chad was sent away to a boot camp for boys who are naughty when I was a senior in high school. When he left he had just met Halie’s mother and she was pregnant. When he came back I was in college and our relationship was better. It could be that we weren’t living together anymore. We get along pretty well now, I feel like I’m the big sister because I’m the one that has a life that’s a little more together. He has been on one big vacation since he has been an adult and that was to Vegas with Rob and I, on Spring Break in 2005.

At the airport after Vegas after reuniting with Halie! I took like, no pictures on that trip, so this is literally the best I have.

DSCN0641.jpg

Rob and my brother get along pretty well. Rob, his brothers, my brother, and my dad all go bowling together on Wednesdays. They also race RC cars together. I had a hard time finding many pics of my brother. Here he is at the lake camping with us.

DSCN3781-1-1.jpg

Halie, our niece, 7 1/2- Halie is going in to 2nd grade at the school I teach, well hopefully that’s the school, her mom wants to switch, but that’s a whole other thread.

P5212369-1.jpg

The one Princess Halie still likes…
PA260328.jpg

I’m having a hard time adjusting to Halie growing up because it seemed like it literally happened overnight. One day she comes over with the snotty attitude and I’m like, what happened to my little Halie?!?!? I’m pretty sure this is the day it happened…

PA140250.jpg

She turned 7 and everything went downhill. She said she would rather go to the beach than WDW. She didn’t want to talk about the trip, and would roll her eyes when I did. It was pretty painful for me. I actually contemplated canceling the trip after one too many times of Halie’s attitude making me cry.

After several times of her attitude, her mom and dad finally took action. She has been much more pleasant since then. I have to say that since school let out, she has also improved her behavior. From what she says, the other kids in her class think WDW is for babies, and Halie is all about being popular. She does not want them to make fun of her. I know that these kids are just “hatin” because they will never get to go to WDW , but she doesn’t know that. I just have to realize that she’s growing up and she’s not the same 5 year old that I took to WDW a few years ago.

I just stumbled across this and had to say hi. Right now, like much of our free time, I am on my laptop as my husband is on his. I am on Dis with my notebook next to me preparing for our November trip and my husband is about 10 feet away on his laptop playing WoW. That is how we spend most evenings after the kids are in bed, and weekend mornings. How Funny!! He is right here so when I come across something funny, interesting, somehting new I'd like to try, whatever, he is here and listens. Anyway, just wanted to say hello......

Well, we are like twins! You should keep reading the trip report of a fellow WoW widow!

Day 4 Continued- Epcot with my Park Peeps!

Finally Halie and I decided to get out of bed. We barely made it to Epcot in time for our ADR at Coral Reef. Thank goodness we had a car!

Halie at the turnstiles.
P6230293.jpg

On our way to CR, Rob ran over to Soarin’ because the tip board said it had a 20 minute wait. He thought he could get some fastpasses. That didn’t happen, and the tip board was wrong. It was a 45 minute wait. We got to CR and checked in and then sat down on the floor by the doorway to wait. For some odd reason Halie had a ball in her pocket. Actually, Halie had a ton of junk in her pockets. After this day we had to start patting her down for contraband whenever she got out of the car. Otherwise she’d being like 15 things to the park with her everyday.

Anyways, she had a ball and we had a fun time rolling it back and forth while waiting for our ADR.

P6230294.jpg

P6230295.jpg

While we waited Jen and family arrived. I went out to chat for a few minutes and then we were called to our table.

P6230296.jpg

P6230298.jpg

I don’t think I mentioned yet that Halie always got a Shirley Temple to drink with every meal. It was fun for her because she’d never heard of it. The waiter at the Wave had suggested it to her. Chad got a Sour Apple slushie to drink. Both of their drinks came with Dolphin thingies in them. And Halie had an extra one in her pocket of contraband. Apparently she’d gotten it from the fireworks cruise.

P6230299.jpg

For dinner Chad and Rob both had the NY strip.
P6230300.jpg

I had mahi mahi Which was DELICIOUS!!!
P6230301.jpg

Halie had grilled chicken with French fries.
P6230302.jpg

For dessert Rob had a key lime tart.
P6230303.jpg

Chad had fruit sorbet.
P6230304.jpg

Halie had a build your own sundae.
P6230305.jpg

And I had the Wave.
P6230306.jpg

I’d like to point out right now, that I just noticed on my receipt that I was charged a 3% service charge twice. Once for $3.92 and once for $0.12. If anyone knows what that’s about let me know!

Total for the meal…

$147.45 before tip

4 out of 4

After we ate we went over to bug Jen and her family at their table. They had a fabulous waitress whereas our waiter sucked. It took forever to get anything, and we never got a drink refill. We took a picture of them with their camera and then headed out. We decided to ride the Nemo ride and check out the Seas with Nemo and Friends. The ride was a walk on.

Halie climbed in the shark mouth.
P6230312.jpg

We stopped to take some pictures outside.
P6230313.jpg

On the way towards the WS, Halie spotted this bunny.
P6230314.jpg

P6230315.jpg

P6230316.jpg

Then Chad thought it would be funny to try to catch a bee that was on a flower. He about got us all stung. Goober.

I thought these pictures turned out nice!
P6230317.jpg

P6230319.jpg

Finally we got over to France. Jen had beat us there and was waiting for me with a GGCLS! Woo hoo! The girls had a great time together. I gave them each a pack of glow necklaces and they got a kick out of that!

P6230321.jpg

P6230323.jpg

P6230325.jpg

Melissa was supposed to be meeting us this night and I called her several times. Seems she’d gotten stuck over in Future World. After the show, we found her though. I got to see Ryan again and meet Brandon and her mom for the first time. Melissa’s mom is really pretty and Brandon is the sweetest thing.

I just love Ryan! He’d been at his fancy birthday dinner that night, but he changed clothes. He made sure to tell us about Melissa spilling something on her shirt at the meal. Geez Ryan!!!
P6230328.jpg

We walked with Melissa for awhile then parted ways. We had a party at the GV to go to! On our way out of Epcot, Chad stopped to by a shot glass just for the occasion. It was finally “The Night of the Margaritas!”

Up next: The Night of the Margaritas!

Ooh la la! The night of the margaritas! Sounds very exciting! :cool1:

Great denim shorts, too!! :thumbsup2

Thanks for another fun update!!

Oh my gosh! I haven't thought about Shirley Temple's in years! Lot's of memories! My bff from childhood and I would make them while pretending we were at cocktail parties. We were glammed up.

I bet Halie thought she was something else. Once again, awesome review and I can't wait to read more. Bring on the margaritas. :cool1:

Just read your whole TR... love it.! I should be doing things to prepair for our trip but couldnt tear myself away from your report! I love what you made your niece to wear adorable... you are so talented! Cant wait to read more

Thanks for voting and reading! My DH will wear personalized shirts because we have gotten a lot of attention from it, like Family of the Day twice!

Sorry for being MIA everyone. Another update is coming!

Day 4 Continued- The Night of the Margaritas!

After a quick stop by our room to pick up Chad’s giant bottle of Crown Royal and a bottle of Peach Schnapps headed over to Jen’s GV. The girls went nuts all night. Pillow fights, jumping on beds, screaming, etc. They had a ball! The adults had a great time as well! There were GGCLS and margaritas compliments of Jen’s Margaritaville that she toted all the way from Ohio. Chad also kept everyone’s shot glass full (with the exception of James, who I learned that night, doesn’t drink so that means all that beer in the fridge is just for Jen. Wow!).

The GV Queen.
P6230329-1.jpg

Here’s some video from the night!

Day 5, June 24, 2008: The Beginning of a Very Un-TGM Like Day

We got up at 7:15 this morning. We had a rope drop to make. Halie and I had cereal out on the verandah and then quickly got ready. I’m not sure what Tink brought her this morning, but I can guarantee she got something. Spoiled little princess!

We were out of the room by 8:15.

Halie when we arrived at MGM. I don’t know why she looks like this. It must have been something funny at the time or I wouldn’t have taken a picture.
P6230339.jpg

When we arrived at MGM the lines at the turnstiles were very long. I looked to the right and saw two short lines. I had Rob and Chad get in one and Halie and I got in the other. While in line the family in front of us recognized us from Vero Beach. They had been there too! We were on practically matching vacations. Too funny!

Waiting for the park to open.
P6230340.jpg

While we waited in the line for the turnstiles to open I noticed that our line was blocking two turnstiles, but we were really only in line at one of them. I was determined to go to the shorter line when it opened. When they opened the turnstiles nobody was going to the second one so Halie and I hopped over there and were through the turnstile in no time. I’m so sneaky.

The plan was for Halie and I to go straight to TSM and FP it and ride it. The boys would go over to RNRC and ToT and ride both. I knew we needed to be at the front of the rope drop in order to have this plan work so Halie and smoothly made our way through the crowd to the front.

There was a couple from Canada celebrating their second anniversary that were picked as Family of the Day. Just like us last year!
P6230342.jpg

When they dropped the rope they didn’t walk people to TSM and people were running. So what do I do? Grab Halie’s hand and say, “RUN!” We ran to the TSM and were the first people to get a FP. Then we got in to the standby line. Halie was tired from the running.

P6230343.jpg

The queue had great themeing!

P6230350.jpg

P6230351.jpg

P6230352.jpg

P6230353.jpg

P6230355.jpg

The family in front of us was really nice. They complimented Halie’s outfit and offered to take our picture together.
P6230357.jpg

The really dumb thing was that even though we were at the very front of the line we had to wait about 15 minutes to get on. The ride was malfunctioning.

Our first sighting of the ride vehicle!
P6230358.jpg

Ready to ride!
P6230359.jpg

This ride is sooooo awesome!!! I could spend all day riding it! It is my new favorite ride at MGM replacing RNRC.

Our score
P6230364.jpg

When we exited the ride, Rob called. They were done riding their ride and were ready to meet us. Our FP window was going to open in 10 minutes so I decided that we should wait and get another TSM FP. We got the 2nd FP then rode the ride with the 1st. Looking back, we should have used the 1st FP later on. It’s about going on attractions before the line is long. I never use a FP within the window. TGM mistake of the day #1.

Another queue pic on the 2nd ride.
P6230365.jpg

Rob and I rode together. I can’t remember who won. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
P6230366.jpg

After that we went to RNRC. Chad wanted Halie to ride it. When I got there I realized I’d made a mistake. The standby was 45 minutes and our FP window didn’t open for hours since I’d gotten a FP for TSM.

We were standing around and someone came up and gave Rob FP’s for all of us to ride! Bonus!!! We got in to the FP line. Halie started to freak out a little bit while in line. When she saw the cars she got more scared. I promised to buy her a RNRC pin if she rode the ride.

We got on with Halie crying. We got off with Halie exclaiming that it was her favorite ride ever and could she go again. It’s the main thing she still talks about from the trip. She loves to tell everyone about the roller coaster that goes upside down 3 times. I’ll have to find the postcard she wrote my mom and dad that day that tells them about RNRC. It’s so cute!

When we got off I let Halie pick a RNRC pin from the gift shop and I bought our ride picture.

RNRC001.jpg

Then I got a text from Jen. They were at TSM with their magical FP that allows like 12 people to ride or something like that and they wanted us to meet them there. I think this is the point where everyone starts to get a little grouchy. This will be Rob and Chad’s 3 time walking back and forth across the park. Obviously they don’t realize how awesome it is to have a magical FP that you get to use with your park peeps!!!!

We met up with Jen and family and get in line.

P6230368.jpg

P6230369.jpg

Then the ride breaks down. We go back out of the FP line and Jen asks for our FP back. People in the standby line were none too happy because some of them had been waiting forever!!!

The girls met the Green Army Man when we got out of line.
P6230370.jpg

Jen and family headed to Indy and we headed to Muppets. We were going to meet back at TSM when they were done with Indy

On our way to Muppets.
P6230372.jpg

P6230373.jpg

P6230375.jpg

I could tell Chad was getting majorly pissy when we were at Muppets. He wasn’t talking at all. Lets just say he has some addictions that weren’t being fed while at WDW and this wasn’t agreeing with him at all.

At Muppets.
P6230376.jpg

Chad decided he was hungry now. It was 11:15. We had a Sci-Fi ADR at 1:20. I made it so late so we’d be able to see BATB before we ate. I get a little upset by people wanting a full meal right before our ADR. My dad did this over and over on “The Good, the Bad, and The Ugly.” Chad knew this. He knew it pissed me off. He did it anyway. We headed towards Toy Story Pizza Planet.

One last cute picture of Halie before the massive fight at WDW.
P6230377.jpg

And she found a hidden Mickey.
P6230378.jpg

Up next…A fight between a sister and a brother that probably shouldn’t be vacationing together.
