I have a 3 and 5 yr old. What's your opinion? two strollers or one? I will be bringing the stroller(s) in the airport, on a plane, and on Disney transportation.

Any and all advice appreciated, it's my first time. Thanks!

we went the sit n stand route because one person trying to push two strollers is tricky at best and with four kids we often split up one parent takes the youngest two and one the oldest two for shows/rides. I love my sit n stand

I tested out the joovy caboose sit and stand and fell in love with it! Dont know if your military or not but you can get it at aafes for 134

I think I didn't communicate my message well. Sorry.

I have the sit and stand and I have two umbrellas. My dh and I are both taking the kids. Should we take the sit and stand stroller or two umbrellas?

So far, two for the sit and stand:) How is the sit and stand on the bus/airplane?

The problem with a sit and stand is that the child sitting cannot recline, is that correct? The child "standing" could also have the option of sitting, but are they able to lean back? They may be tired enough to want to lean back, or recline for a short nap.

They are also bulkier and heavier so that if you need to collapse it for the bus ride it may not be as easy as collapsing and transporting the 2 lighter umbrellas. I planned on bringing 2 umbrella type strollers with adapters that connect them (good only if they are matching umbrellas) so that you could have one person push both, or you can separate and each take one. My girls are 4 and 6, and I plan on bringing 2. My umbrella carries up to 55 lbs and folds small and is only 11 pounds to carry.

I vote for 2 umbrellas!::wave:

I took 2 lightweight strollers to Disney on our last trip. My kids were 15 months and 3 1/2. My 3 1/2 wasn't in the stroller much, so pushing around an empty stroller was such a pain. I am heading to Disney now with a 5 and 3 yr old and just bought the joovy - I reccomend not taking 2 strollers since your kids are capable and will be walking a lot, and your going to end up pushing an empty stroller... and holding their hands.

I imagine my kids will only be in the stroller for when we have a long walk ahead of us, or at the days end when they are tired. So, 1 makes more sense to me.

We brought 2 of our single strollers -older Gracos - for our trip with a 3 & 5 yo in Dec. One of the strollers got crushed on the plane :headache: We started out using just the one stroller and the boys wuld take turns, but mostly walked.

We ended up renting another single on the 3rd day. No one wanted to 'ride' much the first day or 2, but I think walking got to be too much after awhile.

This was actually perfect because we only had to deal with 1 stroller on the buses and were able to manage carrying th other kid if needed. The park strollers also steered awesome!

I like the idea of the SitnStand because you only have one stroller to push -but will the child sitting in back be happy? If so, I'd go with that. It is tough when both parents are pushing empty strollers and the kids are walking. We often kept our stroller(s) parked for long periods of time because of this.

I would go with the sit and stand since you have a 5 yr old. He'll probably want to walk when he can so you'd be pushing an empty stroller half the time.

Mine are 4 and 2 and I have done both ways.
It's nice to have 2 strollers so if you and your DH want to split up w/ the kids (say take the 5 yr old on Space Mt and the 3 yr old to Buzz) it works out well. I also like 2 strollers b/c if we bring 1 I am the one who ends up pushing it (force of habit- even if my DH starts out pushing I end up somehow with the job). 2 strollers also fit better through a crowd. And if the kids start fighting (which by the end of a day at the parks when they are tired and cranky) they can be kept far enough apart to limit the "he pulled my hair, she touched me" that my kids go through.

I was also wondering how to handle the strollers. I have a (will be) 2 yr old and 5 yr old. The thought of bringing the Sit & Stand on the plane had me a bit concerned since it's big and bulky.

I love the idea of bringing an umbrella stroller for the little one and then renting a 2nd one if we find that my 5 yr old REALLY needs it. We're going with my nieces (5 & 7) so I doubt she'll want to ride. This way I don't have to lug one down that won't be used!

I love the sit and stand... but like RedAlfalfa said, It's the airplane storage, as well as, bus storage that bothers me.

I see the pros with two stroller, but I might be pushing two around the park!

Anyone else? Or anyone a psychic? Which way is best?

We went last year when DS was 5 and he walked and walked and walked all day and night for 9 days. I think my DH carried him one night when it was late at DTD. Never even considered a stroller.. nor do I think he would have wanted to be in one where he couldn't see everything. I loved my SNS stroller too.. but we haven't used it since he was 3 or so. I'm not sure I would want to be folding it constantly on a bus.. it's still pretty bulky. I also think you will probably be splitting up some times.

This is in response to people worried about the bulkiness of the SNS.
As far as the plane, they take the stroller right at the gate, so you don't have to worry about carrying it anywhere.

As the buses go, it is kinda a pain to fold up and carry on, but its not that bad. It's not like your holding it the ride. Your just folding it and carrying it on the bus and putting it on the floor. So, I don't think that should be too much or a worry.

You can leave them open for the monorails.

We just got back and we have a 2 and a 5 yo. My 2 yo was in the stroller most of the time and we wound up renting a stroller for the 5yo. most days. She never rides in a stroller at home but Disney was just too much for her! I wish we had brought our sit and stand! Neither one of them napped in the stroller so the reclining wasn't an issue.

We used 2 strollers, that way one could take the older on something and one could go the other way to the younger and we both had a stroller. It didn't happen often that we seperated, but it definately did happen.

We take 2 strollers, when my older one didn't want to ride we would fold up her stroller and hook it over the handles of the other stroller.

I vote for 2 strollers. That is what we did last year. I did not want to lug my sit and stand stroller b/c it is so bulky. We had one umbrella stroller. Then I just bought at $20 at kmart for my older son. One our last day there, we gave it to someone who was renting a stroller. We didn't want to lug it back through the airport. It worked out really well. The lady we gave it to was so grateful!!!

shoppgirl- What kind of stroller do you have?

I have a Mac Triumph and plan to borrow another one. I do not have the connectors yet, so I actually do not know how well those will work! But my research has told me that these connectors are universal and are easy to use.

I LOVE my Mac....my DD is 48 lbs and the stroller is so easy to push with her in it. It's easier to push than my other stroller, Peg Aria, with my other 35 lb DD.

We used the sit 'n stand with our 3 this past Oct. My dd (4) and ds (2.5) would take turns on the back or ride together (and it's so easy for them to get off and on, as you know!), and our 12 month old dd would have the front seat. We had no problem with the plane (gate checked and it was ready when we got off the plane) and my dh would just fold it up when it was time to get on the buses and there was always room for it. And ours is really light (well, a lot lighter than our graco duo glider, that's for sure!).
