Two Tinks and Two Mary’s do Disney Oct /Nov 2006 Day One

Day One
Finally D Day had arrived!! Following a night at the Holiday Inn Glasgow Airport we finally checked in with Globespan and went through to the departure lounge Anyway we were all settled in the departure lounge with magazines, juice etc when the family from hell arrives …Granny, Granddad, Mum and two gorgeous wee boys aged about 3 and 5.Granddad gets sent to the bar for the first of many drinks (8 in the morning)and Granny sets off for duty free! All adults get settled down with their drinks and two wee boys are left to run around the departure lounge as they wish…adults oblivious to them. The mum had one of those ipod holders strapped to her arm which looked like a blood pressure cuff to me and was very proud of it too! Anyway several drinks later (Them not us!!!!) we are boarded ,settled into our seats, and the captain comes on to tell us the news that there are bad head winds and our flight time will be 10 hours 25 minutes!!!Did I say earlier we hate flying! About half way there the very drunk granny starts shouting and screaming at the front of the plane looking for the wee boys who have been running around the plane for the past 5 hours as the adults were all asleep! The crew get her to sit down opposite us and she then promptly falls asleep….snoring for Scotland. We have to listen to this for the next five hours as her daughter and husband don’t bother to come looking for her!!!Half an hour before arrival the crew decide they should waken her but after several attempts they can’t! They go and get her husband who gives her a quick slap on the face and she rouses and slaps him back!!!!Wonder if they ever got through immigration? Hope the wee boys had a lovely holiday !!!
Anyway we get through immigration with no hiccups get outside and our driver is waiting and it off to our hotel in less than half an hour of arriving.
Arrived at hotel and our room is lovely we got showered and changed and headed down to downtown Disney as Leigh and Erin had never been there …..they loved it!!! So its off to a good start, we then headed back up and went to Steak and Shake for our first of many delicious dinners!Oh forgot to say I lost my appetite when I arrived at Sanford airport and picked up Desperate Dans!!

I hate flying too, so can sympathise with how you must have felt with such a long flight. A lovely way to start your trip with DTD, pleased to hear that your friends enjoyed it.

Great report! What was the flight with globespan like (apart from that family!!)? We are flying with them in July!

The flight was fine we had pre booked the front row seats in economy so actually had more leg room than premium the vrew were great too i would definately go with thm again.Thanks for taking the time to read

Great start although the comedy of the family was hilarious, but maybe not in the same plane

As we will probably look at going with Globespan I'm interested in your view of them. The fact you would go back is good news

What a long flight and having to spend it with those people must have been awful. It really is nice to spend your first night at DTD. So glad your friends enjoyed it.
