We have 4 adults and 4 kids. This is a last minute trip. I was able to get an ADR for Cape May brteakfast by searching for parties of 4 rather than a party of 8. After I secured a ressie with the first party of 4, I was able to bring up a 2nd party of 4 and secure it with my husbands name.

Is there any chance we will be get these two tables near each other?

My other reservations were done as parties of 8. Some of those specifically say that we may be 2 tables but they will sit us near each other and that is great. Just hoping they can do the same (or try to) with this ressie of 4 and 4.

Generally, they will try to sit big parties together, but your situation is a little different, since you essentially have two separate reservations. I still think they'll do their darnedest for you if you ask. No guarantees (there never is), so don't rely on it absolutely happening, but figure it is a very high probability.

I agree with Bicker, They will try but there is not guarantee since you booked two completely different reservations. You can tell them you will wait for 2 tables to open near each other if you are willing. That may help

Ask when you get in and they will try to put your parties at least near each other, if not push the tables together. Be aware you may have to wait a bit longer. Also if you ask to be seated together, and they seat you together or near each other and give you the same server, you'll be considered a party of 8 for automatic tip purposes. Tip discussion should be on the tipping sticky thread, but just so you know.
