Two Reservations

Can you have 2 reservations during the same time? Or would that not work. Like can I have two hotels booked for the same time period because I want to keep the dates but I'm not sure yet which one I wanted to use and then just cancel one of them. Would that mess anything up?

yes. would recommend to just make sure that if ordering magic bands to arrive at your hotel you've cancelled the other hotel that you don't want them arriving to, or have them mailed to you instead (which you have to do a certain number of days before your trip).

Thank you! We already have unused magic bands from a cancelled 2020 trip. Would they still be good to use? I wasn't planning on ordering any new ones.

Yes those will work. MagicBands work at the Mickey touch points forever, but there are certain long-range features (primarily PhotoPass linking for on-ride photos) that require the MagicBand's battery to be functional. Most estimates of the battery life put it around 2 years.

I do this all the time - and have never had a problem. Decisions ... decisions.
