I last three cruises on the dream we were directed upon boarding to enchanted Garden. I know that the buffet up top is very busy, but could we ask to go there or do we have to go to the one they direct you to. If that makes sense

I think they try to distribute the crowd, but you can go to either one.

We never pay any attention to them and go wherever we want. On our last cruise (this was the Magic), we were told to go to Cabanas which we don't care for. We headed to Carioca's only to be told it was packed and there would be a long wait. We said, fine - we'll wait. Aprox 2 to 3 minutes later we were seated at a table in Carioca's which was only about 25% full at the most. I have no clue how or why the CM's direct you for lunch upon embarkation, but we stopped paying attention a long time ago.

Yes, they have directed us there too, but we head up to Cabanas. We love to start our cruise eating outside on deck, soaking up the atmosphere.

We like to eat outside, too, and usually go where we want, depending on the weather or port we are leaving. Don't forget the Mickey Bars wherever you eat...first thing I order for desert.

I think 80/20 rule, they just hope at least 80 % of people will just do what they say.

We always head back to the aft elevators and then up to Cabanas regardless of where they direct us to go. :) But I always smile politely and act like it is our first time being told about the lunch options and reminded of the mandatory drill. lol

Can you order Mickey Bars in Cabanas? Or just the MDRs and room service?

I would just tell them that you prefer to eat at Cabanas for lunch that day and leave it at that.

I have never heard of getting them at Cabanas.
I think that you can only get the Mickey bars in the main dining rooms. So, if you really want one the first lunch, then go to the main dining room upon boarding. If they had them in Cabanas, everyone would be getting them!

If you go to the non-Cabanas option for lunch upon boarding is it the same buffet style offerings, or is it a different menu? I like the idea of avoiding the chaos up top, but my kids (and I) would miss the peel and eat shrimp if it wasn't in the other dining room.

It’s a menu to order from

We always go right up to pool deck. Grab a table by pool. Unload our carryons there and then grab lunch. Some of us go to cabanas, get a tray and bring back to outside table. I prefer the grill. If it’s a gorgeous day I don’t see the point in eating inside.
