Two moms get away to act like teenagers...or do they? The End! (Feb 18-21, 2011)

This morning we were well rested and ready for a day at DHS. While waiting on that bus that seemed to take forever I tried to get our pic

Also while waiting on this late bus, I realized my coffee cup lid wasn't on correctly or something and I had coffee spots all down the front of me, but it wasn't going to slow me down.

This is my first pic at DHS for the day

Does anyone here remember when TSMM first opened and the plastic toy soldiers were everywhere in the queue? I remember them, but have noticed they are no longer there, not sure if people took them, or if they were removed by Disney.

Funny that I took this photo after our experience with him:

And our scores:

We weren't near any of the high scores for the day

And now...back to Vickie!

Vickie

wishing you the best during your cancer treatment. Hope your family can celebrate when you're done!! Another disney trip will be in order!

loving your trip with your BFF! looking forward to more!!

My scores always vary but the 2nd time around is always worse. I like playing with my kids because I can never beat Keith and he is so competitive! I know I need my game on with him!!

Were the plastic toy soldiers small and easily takeable? I love the toy soldiers too. I get excited when they are outside shouting orders!! :goodvibes

Thank you so much -- and, you are right! ;)

I think I do get better the second time, but I'm never very good at all. I think I can get those really hard-to-get targets and bump up my score, but i'm not good enough to get them, so I waste a lot of time! :sad2:

And, out we go, to head to the other side of the park for Melissa's other favorite ride. I saw this and snapped a picture. Last time I did this, the movie didn't do so well. I think I'm sensing a trend.

ry%3D480

It was fairly crowded this day.

ry%3D480

Melissa wanted to go into this sad looking hotel. I knew what awaited us, and it made me nervous. I can't get over my nervousness with this ride -- I think it's the fact that each time, it's different.

ry%3D480

We got in a decent, but not obnoxious, line. Don't remember what the wait time was, but it wasn't long. Still, I had to find things to keep my mind busy.

This guy looks like he died a horrible death.

ry%3D480

We went through the lobby so quick, I really didn't have time to linger and get a pic. But, I spotted this workstation on our way to the elevator.

ry%3D480

I think there's always a small hope in the back of my mind that I'll get these pictures home and spot a hidden Mickey. I'm not seeing it, tho.

The ride seemed really short, for some reason. I am always on the edge of my seat for the first part of this ride, and grip the handles to try to keep my butt on the seat on the drops -- like I'm in danger of getting left behind, or something! Then, I breathe a big sigh of relief when it's over. It's the only ride I do this on.

What I really like about the end of this ride is the shop -- you can find a lot of the Spa products, here. I always tell myself I'm going to buy something, and then talk myself out of them. This time, I spotted a bunch of Jack Skellington in the corner, and took a pic of it for my DD.

ry%3D480

For some reason, that spurred us to do some more shopping. I was on a budget, so there was very little I'd buy -- but I love to look. :)

'Cuz --

ry%3D480

And then,

ry%3D480

While I looked at the shirts from the 'hood, Melissa went for the bowling shirts.

ry%3D480

Yep, she was going blue-collar, alright.

ry%3D480

It must have been my turn to suggest the next thing to do -- because we were going to learn about Disney Animation!

We went into the Animation Studio, and decided to try out for the Lion King movie. If you are on Facebook, you should be able to see this -- if not, let me know!

http://<object width="400" height="300" ><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><param name="movie" value="http://www.facebook.com/v/1907006757664" /><embed src="http://www.facebook.com/v/1907006757664" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="400" height="300"></embed></object>

I love doing that.

The next thing I love doing? Drawing!! We went over to the studio to wait in line. Literally, I was standing right behind the line that the door opened to. Melissa found a seat. It took a while, and people started crowding in.

At one point, some fellow decided he would crowd me. He truly considered trying to crowd me out of my position...you know, by getting really, really close? He was an older man (I was going to say "gentleman", but that wasn't true), so I was surprised at this ploy. I stood my ground, and acted like I didn't even know he was breathing down my neck. I think I swung around and bumped into him, once.

It took a few moments for him to realize that I couldn't be buffaloed, and he finally backed off. The doors opened, and Melissa and I found our seats.

ry%3D480

ry%3D480

There was much discussion about which character we would do...

Guesses? :rolleyes1

I've learned that if you ride by yourself, you can score higher.

They were the cheap plastic soldiers you buy in a big. I'm sure people stole them, which is sad because it was so fun to spot them.

:lmao: I just had to do that with the title because every time I go to post, I hit "reply" and then have to go back and find the title. I did it this time also and realized Vickie didn't title it.:confused3

I know Vickie doesn't care for ToT, maybe that's why I like dragging her on it. Now I'm the mean one, see why we are such great friends.;) I love it and always try to get people to try it at least once, since its not like the drop rides at other parks. I still remember the first time Vickie rode and she was freaking out about what to do with her bag since there isn't a bag or cubby for anything loose. I was hoping it would make her understand that it isn't that bad since you can have loose items on it.

I did get this shot of my BFF

And the redneck shot

And this is what the park looked like once we exited

Now I had been in Disney Animation, but had never done the things Vickie had me doing

I remember that guy crowding you, it was crazy. And was glad to see the doors open up

Any guesses on which character we were forced to draw?

Phooey...I'm looking for my picture, and can't find it.

I'm beginning to think that people don't like to guess about things!! :lmao:

What's funny is, as many times as we've done this drawing thing, I've never drawn the same character twice!

DAISY!!

I can't believe gatormommy07 got it in the first guess!! :lmao:

I don't have pictures of them, and not sure if Melissa does. I even looked throughout the house, and my stuff from that trip has been moved around... :headache:

I'm sorry I've been away so much -- we've had marathon movie night at our house the whole week, every night...

We watched all of the Harry Potter movies.

We had never seen any of them.

:rolleyes1

I read someone else's thread where they talked about doing this very thing, and then we ended up doing it!

Yes, we enjoyed it, but there was a reason we didn't watch them out of the chute -- it had to do with target audience and the way it was marketed to kids -- we just didn't agree with it. Don't really want to discuss that any more, but we finally decided that the time had come where we could watch them. We really enjoyed them.

Okay...back to the story!! :woohoo:

Well, we were pretty much done with the park at that time -- doesn't seem like we were there for long, but it was getting close to nap-time. :lmao:

We headed out.

ry%3D480

Melissa decided she would go to the Lost & Found Customer Service place to see if they had found her camera. This was new to me -- she had gone there the last time when Jacob had lost his Nintendo DS, but I hadn't been there. Apparently, it used to be the kennel.

Our bus decided to race the monorail on the way back.

ry%3D480

It was kind of cool, so I snapped a pic of it as it raced away -- we wondered which was quicker.

ry%3D480

Mickey was behind the counter, ready to help us when we got to this Lost & Found building. I don't think I can even remember how we got there.

ry%3D480

I spotted what could have been a hidden Mickey. Well, we were waiting in line, and I was bored.

ry%3D480

Even though it WAS the Lost & Found building, it still had the "vet" feel to it.

ry%3D480

After our wait, the kindly CMs (Mickey took a break) informed her that they would only have her camera if she actually lost it in the parks, not if she lost it in the parking lot of a resort. Sadly, they didn't even let us rummage around in a box to take a suitable substitute.

Discouraged, we headed back to the resort. Lunchtime was upon us, so I'm not sure why we went back to our room. Maybe Melissa remembers.

The view from the second floor, looking to the back of the resort:

ry%3D480

To the front:

ry%3D480

This, I believe, was the time when we decided to try the Contemporary's counterservice, Contempo Cafe. We stood there and looked at the menu a few minutes, and I found myself really disappointed and about to eat something I really didn't want. :confused3 Then I realized, "Why should I do that?"

I mean, I'm at Disney World, right? I might be settling for some counter-service food, but why should I settle?

So, I suggested to Melissa that we jump on the monorail and go to the Poly -- let's go eat at Captain Cook's!

We hopped on over, grabbed some grub, and found a table outside.

ry%3D480

This ended up being far better than anything I was seeing on the other menu:

ry%3D480

Melissa got more healthy food, but I didn't get a pic of it.

ry%3D480

Hidden Mickey:

ry%3D480

It was so pleasant outside -- we had some great conversation and just tarried over our food.

On our way out, these creeped me out. I could say more, but I won't.

ry%3D480

ry%3D480

Someone was nice enough to throw their cup into the water so the rest of us could see it.

ry%3D480

We headed back for some relaxation...and to gear up for our night!

That Hawaiian pizza at Captain Cooks is so good! I had it on our last trip and I was so glad I got it.

I totally can't believe I guessed right!!! YAY me!! I never guess anything right!!! and now for your enjoyment.... a banana dancing suggestively!!!

Oh well, I never get things right and that is why I don't gamble!! :rotfl:

That pizza looked delish!! What a great idea to hop on over to the Poly!! :thumbsup2

What's funny is that I hardly EVER eat ham & pineapple pizza -- something about the Poly just converted me... ;)

:yay::yay: Me, either -- and thanks for the banana!

As many characters as we COULD have done, the odds are definitely against you, unless you happen to be a lucky gatormommy07!

I LOVE the Poly -- it was our first resort. :cloud9:

Back to the Studios we went -- it was shaping up to a beautiful night.

ry%3D480

We went to visit Woody and his friends again...

ry%3D480

I really never noticed that Woody had cookies, before.

ry%3D480

I had never seen the One Man's Dream exhibit, so Melissa convinced me to go -- it was great!! :goodvibes

ry%3D480

I hope you don't mind that I share these pictures with you -- there is so much to see.

I am fascinated with Oswald -- the newest game is the reason why.

ry%3D480

See him in this picture?

ry%3D480

This picture just looks wrong, wrong, wrong... :lmao:

ry%3D480

I dunno who's stuffed animals these were:

ry%3D480

Walt's studio:

ry%3D480

Yay, the Mouseketeer drum!!
ry%3D480

This was cool!

ry%3D480

ry%3D480

Things to come!

ry%3D480

ry%3D480

Where to go after this? Something we hadn't yet done!
