Two moms get away to act like teenagers...or do they? The End! (Feb 18-21, 2011)

So happy to see updates!! I am glad everyone is doing well. I can't wait to take our kiddos to DHS it will be so fun to ride with them on RnR and tower!!! It looks like you two had a great night!!!

I love any Disney Park at night. Some of my favorite times to visit.

Teens are obsessed with Jack Skellington! It's so funny to me, because he's a character that's been around for quite some time and is a little obscure, but they love him. I admit, I love him too. :rolleyes1

i'm curious as to what your evening plans were. and i never love my balloon shots either

Welcome back ladies! :yay: Missed your updates but totally and completely understand!! I love RnR and ToT is my absolute favorite!

Thank you!! It's funny -- I have this absolute blood-pumping feeling of scaredness for RnRC, but only fear with ToT!! And my favorite is the coaster, but my DD and Melissa love ToT.

Good to see you again!!! Vickie- I'm so glad to hear you are feeling well. Take care of yourself!

I love the description of your feeling about RNR. The love and the fear!

Thank you -- I'm probably not doing everything I should be, but I am taking the meds like a good girl! :)

I should have someone film me right before I get on that coaster -- it would be HILARIOUS!! :lmao:

I LOVE interacting with the kids right before we get on -- "are you ready??" :rotfl: We did have a great night -- I loved that I got to take Melissa to do the animation studio drawing thing, something she'd NEVER done!!

The one thing that bugs me about nighttime -- no matter what time it is or when the park is closing, I keep feeling like the park is going to close any minute. I hate that!! So I feel like I must rush to get everything in...

And, Jack is such a sweet, scary soul...! ;)

i'm curious as to what your evening plans were. and i never love my balloon shots either

I'll be the first to say that I don't think we are going to have FULL disclosure on our evening, but it'll be one we'll never forget... ;)

I'm debating about the full disclosure. :lmao:

Sorry to hear that, hoped someone else had better luck than me.

I've really started to like Jack also. Sure wish they would do an attraction.

We did have a great time. RnR and ToT are two of my favorites. My DS doesn't like ToT at all, he always goes the chicken elevator route.:sad2:

As we left the park that night, we knew we were going to take a different mode of transportation -- the boat!

I had never taken a boat to anywhere but the MK, so this was a treat for me. As we neared the dock, there weren't many people there, which was encouraging. Suddenly, I spotted something -- Donald's relatives were in town!! :cool1:

ry%3D480

I'm not sure if it was an aunt and two uncles, or what, but I attempted to talk to them, and they weren't particularly interested in what I had to say.

I think we sat down on a little bench just off the dock, and had practically no sooner did that then the boat came...

ry%3D480

We piled in, and managed to find a seat at the front.

ry%3D480

It was a nice ride...a welcome diversion from the walking. Suddenly, we saw the light!!

ry%3D480

It was the ending of the show, I think -- pretty cool to have seen it on the boat.

I believe it was the second stop that we got off -- and as we walked onto the Boardwalk, I realized this was another first for me -- I had never been here before! I'm sure it is far more busy during the daytime, but I was still surprised at the number of people walking on the Boardwalk at this time of night. We were walking toward our destination (I did tell you we were going to Jelly Rolls, RIGHT? -- see title), when we saw this fellow, looking like he was setting up to do something. Intrigued, we tried to follow and keep our eye on him, but he seemed to draw a crowd...I stepped back to take a picture of the crowd and Melissa.

ry%3D480

The guy was doing a balancing act -- he was amazing.

ry%3D480

I thought I had other pictures of him, but I don't!! He got rather high in the air, and I really got uneasy, watching him. We finally decided we had enough -- and then I spotted this guy in the window and had to say hi.

ry%3D480

Just a short distance away, our destination was in sight!!

So cool to see some of the Illuminations fireworks from the boat.

During the day, if you are taking the boat from HS towards EP, if Mike from Lowell (MA) is driving (captaining), one of the ducks will come onto the front of the boat and it does a couple of silly tricks.

Looking forward to hearing whatever you are willing to share (or remember) about your evening at JellyRolls!

I am really hoping for an adult trip next October--just me and DH to celebrate me turning 40 :scared1: and our 10 year anniversary. I hope to take advantage of one night along the Boardwalk and more specifically Jellyrolls so I can't wait to hear more!

I always try to talk to Donald's relatives too and they ignore me...so rude!! :lmao:

Really?? That is so sweet -- I love that the captains are thoughtful of the wildlife and interact with them.

As for JellyRolls -- oh, boy!! :lmao: I do remember it...

That would be so awesome -- I wonder if my DH would consider that... :rolleyes1

...Ok, if you call "duck-duck-duck", you & I are probably related -- too many similarities! :lmao:

Since this is kind of a duck post. Here's a picture of Mike and one of the duck:

Funny how when you are trying to get to the theme parks, they seem so far apart, but then you see the fireworks and realize they really aren't.

I've seen ducks on the boats, but never tricks. Very cool!

Hope you get to take that adult trip also. The DH and I did one last February and had a great time.

First off, love the title of this installment Vickie.

And can't believe you had never ridden the boat before. Now you have something new to share with your family on your next trip.:cool1:

Here is one of my pics of Illuminations

And a few of the performer on the Boardwalk

Anyone notice what he is holding?

He is about to juggle

He was amazing. I made sure not to use the flash while he did this, but wondered how many times someone does during his performance?

And our destination

I like bars. Bars and I go 'way back. But it has been 'way back since I've been!! When we walked in, I felt a little nostalgic, even though I'd never been to Jelly Rolls before. There was the little group in front of the pianos, who were all together, and a few scattered here and there -- but mostly empty on this Sunday evening.

Yeah, it was not a regular "night out" night, and we were still a bit early. Being not the party animal at other people's party, I helped Melissa choose a nice table in the back, close to the bar, and close to the door. It had a good view of the pianos, and of course, the bar.

ry%3D400

The other thing that I liked about this view, is that the bartender was eye-candy. Well, when I drink, I don't exactly do anything, but I look -- and he was a looker!!

The dualing pianos were playing some good songs -- of course, some Billy Joel -- and Melissa turned my attention to the drink specials, which come in a red cup. This was something she really was excited about -- and so was I, until I realized two things: 1) I thought it was all you could drink :lmao: , as in, unlimited refills (it wasn't), and 2) the drink special was a rum drink. And, oh, boy, am I struggling with the name of the drink...and I know it...here it is:

ry%3D480

Now, don't get me wrong -- I love rum. And it likes me, up to a point. I get just a little bit of a buzz, and then NOTHING ELSE, NO MATTER HOW MUCH I DRINK.

I know you're thinking -- "RIGHT." Look, I'm not saying my blood alcohol level doesn't keep rising -- all I'm saying is: it doesn't get me happy drunk. Never has. I really don't get it. So, I'm thinking -- okay -- this is the best deal at this bar, so I'm going to go for it. Maybe if I drink ENOUGH, I'll get over that barrier, or whatever it is, and enjoy it.

Well, we both get through our drinks quickly, I think I did my first two quicker than she did. Melissa started paying attention to one of the piano players, so I snapped a pic.

ry%3D480

I also snapped, er, another pic...no flash to give me away...

ry%3D480

About this point, to my second drink, I had to make my way to the bathroom. I always think it's a funny adventure, going to the bar bathroom when you're drunk. They ought to have some kind of obstacle course you need to go through, because it would be funny as heck. Just navigating the stall situation, washing hands and staring bleary-eyed at yourself in the mirror is entertainment enough for the person going through it (me)...in this particular instance, the area which leads to the bathroom is also the "back stage" area for Jelly Rolls. I remember that I ran into someone back there...I don't remember who it was, but I remember thinking, "I need to tell Melissa this!!"

Melissa, did I tell you anything? I have no idea who it was or what happened... :lmao: Ah well...

After this point, my BFF went into overdrive. I swear to you: when we were young, this girl barely drank ANYTHING. This night, she drank me under the table. But then, please give consideration: this rum had had enough with me...at the possible 3rd drink, I not only didn't feel like I was getting anything else out of it, I felt like I had poured fluid into my esophagus to the point of gagging on it...I could not drink anymore. My 3rd cup, I gave to her. I think she drank 2 more on top of that.

Yes.

I hope she doesn't disown me for telling on her!! :rolleyes1

Meanwhile, we SANG...we DANCED...we ogled the men-folk...we laughed at others' antics, and at ourselves. We had a really good time. The dualing piano players were really good.

And at last, it was time to say good-bye. :) We headed out...to a beautiful night.

This was the last shot I took for the night, right before...it all happened. I cannot tell it...it is not my tale to tell. But I will say -- that was a great night!!

Very interesting and revealing update! You described a really fun girlfriends' night out!

I'm looking forward to hearing "the rest of the story"

I think at one time, Melissa thought we might meet up with other Dis'ers that night, and that would have been great -- but. :( Why is it when you have 3, it's a real party?

I'm not sure we'll get to the "rest of the story" -- and I really feel badly that I brought it up, although I know my BFF is laughing at me, now!! I tell you -- she has a great sense of humor, and I am so grateful that God gave me her as a best friend.

It's funny -- now that a friend of ours from high school is at WDW right now and posting on Facebook, we both are wishing we could be there right now -- and it just occurred to us that when my family and I go in December, she won't be there!! It's going to feel weird..."Melissa!!??!! Where are you?" :guilty:

Sounds like a good ol' time at Jellyrolls! I have never been there before, but it's definitely on my list.

Your story about the bathroom and drinking had me cracking up. When I drink, I cannot stop laughing at myself when I look in the mirror because I look like such a mess! :lmao:

I'm here! I'm here! I'm here!

I going to feel really weird not being there with you again. I have got to get a job so we can have another girls trip (and I promise what I am about to post will not happen the second time around.)

It really is a great time and the performers are fantastic.

This cracked me up!! I can't wait to her about what happened next!! :goodvibes

Am I going to tell the truth and nothing but the truth? I'm still deciding as I get ready to do my follow-up.

Reading that title makes it sound like I fell down. Oh, if only I had fallen down, that would have been so much better. :rotfl2:

The really funny thing about going to the bathroom at Jelly Rolls is the fact you have been sitting there singing away, not worried about anyone hearing you there in the club because they are all singing and drinking themselves. So when I go in the bathroom I get the giggles trying not to sit there and sing away. :lmao:

And it really seems like a long walk to get to that bathroom, that hallway can be a killer, but at least it is clear so you can bounce your way to the bathroom off the walls.

Now, I was really looking forward to this night with Vickie because believe it or not, we had never BOTH been really drunk together. One of us always had to drive. Well guess what, no driving this night. We had planned to catch the bus from the Boardwalk and head over to MK from here since it was an EMH night and they were to be open until 3am I believe. Isn't that what teenage girls would do, go out until 3am?

Here are a couple of my pics from that night:

In case you haven't been, the way the performers work is to have two guys up there and then when they are about to switch performers, the other two come out for a song and then they take over the pianos. I love their versions of Bad Romance and Pour Some Sugar on Me. And if you do go, make sure to do a Fast Pass. I didn't do this to Vickie, but my first time there, I was with a couple of Dis'ers (one I had just met earlier that evening) and she did a Fast Pass on me to do the tree dance. In other words, she gave the guys a $20 tip which meant her request was the very next request performed. And guess who performed, that's right, me. Had to stand on stage and do this silly tree dance. I believe they did it this night Vickie and I were there, but thankfully we weren't on stage.

And the guy on the right is the eye candy Vickie was talking about, I think?:confused3

And yes, I drank a lot more than normal and made multiple trips down that long hallway. We left for MK and look, I wasn't too drunk, I could still take a pic

Vickie and I are headed to the Boardwalk lobby to use the restroom one more time and catch the bus. And I can't believe I am going to say what happened, but I figure with everything Vickie has been through this last 8 months or so, whats a little embarrassment?

We have made to the stairs leading up to the lobby, when Vickie makes the following statement to me since we both have the giggles, "Don't laugh so hard you wet your pants." As she says it, guess what? Can't believe I am posting this. I know I am older now, and yes I have to go to the bathroom a lot more than I use to but had no idea this would happen. I now realize I take after my Mom because my stepdad is always making her laugh or tickling her until she does the same thing. Don't worry, my Mom doesn't read this.:lmao:

Vickie helps me find a bathroom. Which I'm sure was one that was suppose to be locked but it wasn't at that moment. Of course, no dryer, but I used up a lot of papertowels. I couldn't stop crying, laughing and apologizing to Vickie. Here she was having to take care of me, I felt so bad. At one point she told me to sit down and I tried to sit on the counter, trying to jump up while drunk, laughing and crying doesn't work so well. So I finally sat on the floor. Thank goodness it was a Disney bathroom and was fairly clean. After awhile we decided to just head to the hotel. Thankfully I had really dark jeans on and it was dark outside. Vickie tried to walk behind me or in front of me so no one would see. Very few people were waiting on the bus or on the bus. We finally made it to MK to walk to BLT.

I got myself cleaned up and we went to bed.

So sorry we didn't get to enjoy MK that night Vickie, but boy do we have a memory.:rotfl2:

My Dis signon will be changing very soon.
