Two little Princesses on their first trip to WDW *8/30 - update*

I know - more stuffed animals - great. :sad2: Both girls still sleep with their WDW stuffed animals, so I suppose they're worth it.

Funny! I bet we saw each other while we were down there - just had no idea who each of us were. I'll have to check it out in your TR. I'm really behind on reading other's reports, so I'm not sure how far you are. I think the last one I read was SWW. I think I read it when I should have been heading back to lunch, so I don't think I've posted anything yet. Better get over there and post!!!

That was actually our first day (June 11.) I didn't take any pictures and I just briefly mention it in my trippie. I was a bit tired that first day. I guess that comes from getting up at 4:30 am:eek:

After naps we primped ourselves and headed over to the GCH for our Ohana ADR at 5:20. We waited about 15 minutes to be seated.

Waiting

Once they started bringing food it never stopped! They have big tables and we started to run out of room. Kate LOVED the salad. I’ve tried to make the dressing at home, but it’s not as yummy of course. Lily LOVED the bread. That is some scrumptious stuff! We’ve purchased the King’s Hawaiian bread from Wally World and Lily is satisfied with that – although it’s no where as good as Ohana’s. The meat was delicious! The dipping sauces were wonderful.

The girls really enjoyed the light up Tinker Bells

I do have a bit of an embarrassing story to share. We really don’t eat a whole lot of seafood. I like it well enough, I just don’t know how to cook it and beef, chicken, or pork usually wins its’ spot on my plate at restaurants. So our “cousin” unloads TONS of shrimp on our plates. They were huge. And looked a bit different that the little ones I’m used to. Andy and I try to recall which sauce we’re supposed to dip them in. I try a bite. Hmm…kind of weird consistency. Not really my thing. At some point, Lily decides she’s going to try it too. Andy has one as well. Okay, now we all have plates full of shrimp, but none of us really liked it. Lily even spit hers out after a while. So we continue feasting on the rest of our meal. The pork and turkey were my favorites! And the pot stickers – yummy! At one point I notice a girl at the next table is getting a refill on her shrimp. I’m a bit baffled that anyone likes this stuff so well. Then I WATCH her PEEL the shrimp. I started laughing! I’m sure anyone watching us shove practically the whole UNPEELED shrimp in our mouths earlier must have thought we were a bunch of HICKS! No wonder Lily couldn’t finish chewing hers! Poor kid! I think I’ve ruined her for life! She’ll probably never eat shrimp again.

Anyway – Andy, Lily, and I are LOVING our meal. Kate – not so much. I think she woke up cranky and hadn’t found her way to happy yet. She demanded that she wanted chicken nuggets. They took forever to come, so she really wasn’t hungry for them by the time they arrived. Oh well, she’s not going to blow away.

I’m not a huge drinker, but I do love a yummy libation from time to time. I saw the pictures of the beautiful Lapu, lapu on the DIS. I had missed my chance for Grey Goose Slush in Epcot, so I was bound and determined to get one of these pineapple drinks. I have to admit I was disappointed. I really thought there would be a super yummy pineapple flavor to it. Really, it just tasted like rum that just happened to be in a pineapple. I figured I might as well get a couple pics with the thing:

Throughout our meal there is a Hawaiian lady walking around singing and recruiting kids to do a coconut race. Lily is just dying to join in, but is too timid to go alone. The girls and I jump into the line. Once Lily sees what the coconut races really are, she decides she’s not interested – but Kate is. Lily starts crying – so I send her back to Andy. Kate and I raced around the room with our brooms and coconut. We had fun.

Once we returned to our table, there was a little bit of heaven waiting for us. I believe the bread pudding was perhaps the best dessert in all of WDW! The banana foster sauce, the bread pudding, the ice cream – pure bliss. Although I was stuffed, I couldn’t stop eating this. It was amazingly good. I’ve tried replicating it at home with no luck.

We left Ohana with incredibly full tummies. I wanted to catch the photopass guy again since the girls had their cute dresses on. We got some real winners

:lmao::rotfl::lmao: about the shrimp! I'm not a big shrimp fan either.
O'hana sounds like a fun place, but I've always been concerned it is just too much food. I'm afraid we'll all have to roll out and I'd have to run 26 miles to work it off. Maybe we'll try it during my marathon trip:rotfl: Adorable Photopass pictures. Of course you have such beautiful girls it's easy to get beautiful pictures.

How funnt about the shrimp:rotfl:
glad the meal otherwise left you guys full!!
the girks dresses are so cute!!:)

Oh my, I do love shrimp, but don't think I would like it with the shell either.:lmao::lmao::lmao:

You sure did get some fabulous pictures on your trip.

Oh yummy, O'Hana's is definitely on my list for next time. How I long to stay at the Poly....

Oh my heck, if I'd have been drinking while I read that update, I probably would have spit all over the monitor!:rotfl: Thanks for the laugh.

Your photopass pictures are gorgeous. Love the one of your whole family.

:lmao:LOVE the story about the shrimp!! I could eat seafood several nights a week and be perfectly happy. You had such luck with the photopass pics! Every one you have posted is beautiful! I guess you got your money's worth. I am back and forth as to whether or not to preorder.

Carissa, this update was wonderful!!! I am so glad you decided to write a TR!!! :goodvibes

I had a bad feeling I knew where the story was headed when you said the shrimp had a weird consistency. :lmao: I bet that is one of the stories the girls will hold over your heads forever, "Hey, Mom, remember the time at Disney that you ate unpeeled shrimp?" :rotfl: It's an honest mistake!

You are the second person to say they didn't like the Lapu Lapu -- I am crossing it off my wish list. I do have to say I am dying to try Ohana's now -- it sounds so yummy -- especially that bread pudding!

The photopass pics at the Poly are beautiful! Too funny about the shrimp, it will take a long time to live that one down :rotfl2:

I really enjoy DTD. Love that Earl of Sandwich and Goofy's.:cloud9: Your daughters look so darling in their matching outfits. I can't dress my princesses alike any more, unless its in matching tshirts.:sad1:

Why do they have to outgrow the matching outfit stage?

You HAVE to buy plushies at Disney! It's a law!

Ah, yes. We're law abiding citizens.

Cute pics of your girls waiting and watching the treats being made.

I love those pics too. They were kind of ornery prior to the treats, but they were quiet and completely fascinated once she started working on them.

You really have some lovely photos of your girls...:cloud9: CRT is really priceless to do with little girls...

Thank you! I think CRT is a must do with little girls, too!

Downtown Disney looks like it was so much fun...I"m glad the girls were able to get their Maries...

They were very excited to get their Maries. :)

Goofy's looks great-I have to try one of the pretzels-I've read you get 3 for one snack credit...did you get any of those...

I got the pretzels. They were very yummy. I got each dipped in different candies. I think the Reece's Pieces was my favorite. I don't think I took any pics of them. Yes, all the treats are definitely a snack credit bargain!

(DS is really chomping to get to DTD-his birthday is a week before we go and he wants money from his grandparents so he can go to the lego store and make a light saber and maybe a potatoe head...

Sounds like fun! Can I go too? :rotfl:

and he saw something is a photo about a Goofy slushie-where you can make your own cup...I hope they still have them...:confused3

I didn't check them out too closely, but they had make your own cups at Goofy's in DTD and at Club Cool in Epcot.

I love this picture of the girls watching their delicious treats being made!

Me too! :)

Sounds like you enjoyed your shopping day at DtD!

We had fun. I think Andy was surprised at all the fun we were able to have.

Sounds like a fun day at DTD! We only spent a couple of hours there tops and I'm torn between thinking we missed out and knowing that any longer would have meant a very long chorus of "No you cannot get that, you're spending money is gone"!

I think we were only there for 3-4 hours. I can't remember for sure. Probably 1 hour of that time was spent eating. :worship:

Great report. The title caught my eye-similar to mine. We took our girls 5 and almost 3 on their first trip in May. We are also considering DVC-resale. We are in Az so not to close but do plan to try and go once a year. My plan-hubby may have a different one :) We did bkfst at CRT and also had a great time. Our best interactions were with the Fairies. My little DD also did not like the characters-especially Tigger! Can't wait to read more.

Thanks for joining in! I need to check out your trippie!

Where are you thinking of buying into DVC? My preference is BLT. I think at this point we'll just wait to see if BLT opens up in a smaller number of points. If not, it just may not be meant to be for us.

I really want to try the Fairies if we make it back. I've been reading how much interaction others have had in their TRs. I wish I would have realized before hand.

I hate it when work interferes with Dis time!!! lol. Seriously though, I am so glad I am all caught up!!!

I'm so far behind, myself! Seriously - why isn't it okay to check the DIS all day at work? :confused3

The girls looked so adorable in their dresses and in their floral outfits at DTD!! They are SO cute!

Thank you! It's fun dressing them now. I'm sure they won't let me dress them like that too much longer! :rotfl:

What made you not feel the WGPE love?? Just curious, not judging. I loved it there and the food was really good! I love Earls also though!;):lmao:

The heat-induced crankies were hitting our clan. I figured the girls would want something low key and our breakfast sandwich from Earl's was very tasty... If it had just been Andy and me, we probably would have stopped at WGPE...

:scared1::yay::cool2: I guess I am an enabler...lol. I hope it works out for you!!! We love our membership!!:goodvibes

You're totally an enabler! :rotfl: But you did bring up many great points. We're not completely out yet, but I'm not as ready to charge ahead, yet, either.

You did such a fantastic job and the pictures from photopass, both of the girls and your family are precious!!

Thanks! We really had fun with photopass. Andy had a special radar to track them down. We figured we needed the law of large numbers - if we take enough photos, there's bound to be some good ones in the bunch!

So looking forward to more!! I couldn't get O'Hanas for September, but I got LeCellier?:confused3 Wierd isn't it?

That is weird!

Those early mornings are tough on a person!

:lmao::rotfl::lmao: about the shrimp! I'm not a big shrimp fan either.

Glad I'm not the Lone Ranger on that one! :rotfl:

O'hana sounds like a fun place, but I've always been concerned it is just too much food. I'm afraid we'll all have to roll out and I'd have to run 26 miles to work it off. Maybe we'll try it during my marathon trip:rotfl:

It is too much food. The thing is, no one shoved it down my face. I did that myself. I was actually proud of myself for not completely pigging out on our trip - er, until that night!

I'm impressed that you're a marathoner. I wish I could get myself motivated to do something like that. My sis-in-law used to run marathons and has now switched over to triathalons. She decided marathons were too tough on her body - but triathalons aren't? :lmao: She actually lives out in your neck of the woods - in Baltimore. Andy and I are using up some SWA credits in a few weeks to fly out to her and my brother!

Adorable Photopass pictures. Of course you have such beautiful girls it's easy to get beautiful pictures.

 Thanks! I think they're pretty special little gals.

How funnt about the shrimp:rotfl:

the girks dresses are so cute!!:)

Happy to provide some humor to your day! :lmao:

The dresses were an Old Navy find.

Oh my, I do love shrimp, but don't think I would like it with the shell either.:lmao::lmao::lmao:

The shell definitely detracts from the enjoyment of eating shrimp!

You sure did get some fabulous pictures on your trip.

Thanks! We did luck out!

Oh yummy, O'Hana's is definitely on my list for next time. How I long to stay at the Poly....

I highly recommend it. Plus, now you know that you're supposed to PEEL the shrimp! :rotfl2:

Oh my heck, if I'd have been drinking while I read that update, I probably would have spit all over the monitor!:rotfl: Thanks for the laugh.

You bet! :thumbsup2 Happy to be able to make you laugh!

Your photopass pictures are gorgeous. Love the one of your whole family.

Thank you!

All the Poly PhotoPass pictures were great, but I love the one of Lily, she had the perfect pose and smile.

That really is a great pic of her. I have that one hanging up at work.

:lmao:LOVE the story about the shrimp!! I could eat seafood several nights a week and be perfectly happy. You had such luck with the photopass pics! Every one you have posted is beautiful! I guess you got your money's worth. I am back and forth as to whether or not to preorder.

We're very happy with our decision to photopass. I read somewhere that you can preorder, then if you're not happy with the pics you get, you can request a refund. Not sure how that works, but it may be worth looking into if you're on the fence.

Carissa, this update was wonderful!!! I am so glad you decided to write a TR!!! :goodvibes

It's been fun. Thank you for the encouragement!

Hmm...I wonder if they'll remember that one. I sure hope not, but it is pretty funny!

You are the second person to say they didn't like the Lapu Lapu -- I am crossing it off my wish list. I do have to say I am dying to try Ohana's now -- it sounds so yummy -- especially that bread pudding!

The Lapu, Lapu was the ONE drink I wanted to make sure I tried. Very bummed. Definitely try Ohanas! It's wonderful! I just picked up some more spiced rum so I can try making the sauce again. I know it's not as good, but I think it will be a while before I get to try it first hand again.

The photopass pics at the Poly are beautiful!

Thanks! We lucked out!

Too funny about the shrimp, it will take a long time to live that one down :rotfl2:

It was pretty funny. Yeah, I wonder if Lily will ever try it again!

We are thinking of buying into AKV resale. For our May trip we would love to stay at BLT but may not get in. I also like th Beach Club.

I would never describe myself as a marathoner:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao: I've done a couple of halfs. I'm doing the Disney half this January and hopefully I'll do the full in 2011 (I want to do a full at least once in my life.) I also would use the term "run" very loosely. I jog a lot and am pretty liberal in my leisurely walking breaks:rotfl: I actually like my morning "runs" It's time out of the house by myself. I'm sure you know that is precious as a mom:goodvibes
Hope you have a great time at your brother's house. We live about 20 miles south of Baltimore. It's a great area for vacation. Lots to see and do in both Baltimore and Washington:goodvibes

AKV looks so restful! Good luck with your decision!

You still impress me. I don't have good knees, so I'll probably never be a runner, but it sounds like you're at least consistent with working out. I love how I feel when I do work out, but it's so hard to get motivated.

Hope you have a great time at your brother's house. We live about 20 miles south of Baltimore. It's a great area for vacation. Lots to see and do in both Baltimore and Washington:goodvibes

We're looking forward to it. Last time we were out there I was five weeks pregnant with Lily. We had just found out we were expecting and I was trying to keep it a secret from my brother. By the third bar that I only ordered Sprite, he asked if I was pregnant or something! :lmao: So much for keeping my secret from him!

Last year they bought a house in Federal Hill. If I understand right, they're only a couple houses away from Federal Hill park and easy walking distance from the inner harbour. My brother is 6'6", so it was tough to find a house that would work for him. The house they found was completely gutted and remodeled, so now he can fit through the doorways without crouching down. :rotfl:

Oh fun! They live right in the city:cool1: We're out in sububia which is good for the kids and schools, but I've always thought it would be exciting to live right in the middle of it all.

Geez, I got behind here too!! Doesn't life know that I have TR's to read!:lmao:

I am going to sum it all up by saying that I just  all your pictures and your girls are just adorable! O'hanas is fun and my goodness, all that food! Yummo! I'm impressed that you have tried to recreate it at home...I am not that brave!

We didn't step foot in Once Upon a Toy this trip. I may have to let Ellie go in there next time-the Marie's with clothes/collars/whatever would appeal to her!

I love the original from EoS too! Ellie wanted to like the grilled cheese too but she just didn't. It's the different kinds of cheeses they put in there I think. We tried WPE but not the one in the Marketplace, it's the one over on WestSide (I think it's called) right close to DisneyQuest. It was quite good. I think the menus are different.:confused3

Can't wait for more! :goodvibes

They do have a great location. Do you have any suggestions of great things to do with kids in the city? Do they have a cool children's museum or anything like that? The girls aren't going with us this time, but I'm sure they will next time!

Geez, I got behind here too!! Doesn't life know that I have TR's to read!:lmao:

Ain't that the truth. I'm so far behind on so many TRs!

I better leave well enough alone. I tried the banana's foster portion of the dessert again last night - minus the bananas. It was pretty tasty, but nothing like Ohanas!

If I remember, I'll try to take a picture of their dolls from there. It was pretty cute.

EoS' original rocks! Funny that all of our girls wanted to like the grilled cheese. I think it's just too fancy for little palettes. We probably should have tried WGPE, but I wasn't feeling patient enough.

Can't wait for more! :goodvibes

I'm not sure when I'll get my next update done. We're leaving for Fargo tomorrow. I know how jealous you all are! It's actually a nice area, but it's a long drive with little girls. Andy's sister lives up there, and her little boy is getting baptized. If I get free time when the girls are sleeping, I may try working on it...or I may sleep, too! :rotfl:

Hi Carissa!! I just found your TR and am all caught up! I have 2 daughters as well and we stayed at the Poly back in May. I noticed that all of our TS meals were exactly the same so far!! Good choices!! :thumbsup2 I love the PP pics you had taken at the Poly. I don't remember ever seeing any PP photographers in the lobby while we were there! :confused3 I'll have to look for that the next time we go!! Can't wait to read more!! :surfweb:
