I just recently had to reschedule a trip to DLR and am looking at a new early May trip. Based on my dates and what is available, I've narrowed it down to either Hyatt House or Fairfield Inn. The Hyatt House seems much nicer and has included breakfast, but is a longer trek (I'll be on a mother daughter trip with my 60s-ish mom). The Fairfield Inn is obviously the winner in proximity, but I'm worried about room refurb noise.

Another set of wild cards are Candy Cane Inn (plus for the shuttle) or PVI (proximity and breakfast). I was just hesitating on these since they require one night deposit. Currently I have the free hold on Hyatt House and Fairfield Inn until I work through my choices.

We always enjoy the CCI. Clean rooms, great customer service, private shuttle has friendly drivers and runs on time, ABC Mart right next door for snacks and drinks. Bonus: premium rooms come with bathrobes, an amenities basket, and have breakfast delivered to your room. Score! Check for discounts (I know they offer AAA, AP, and returning guests -- maybe there are more).
FFI is useful when we use Marriott points. I'm not sure about the current refurb noise.
Hyatt House is the newest, has the Walgreens and CVS right there for sundries and snacks. The walk isn't far (maybe 15-20 minutes depending on the signals), but your mom might think it's rather far, especially at the end of the day. This would sway me toward the CCI's shuttle.
PVI is really close, but we know someone who had a bad experience there. Plenty of DISers report good stays, though, so don't let that deter you if you get a good deal.

Hyatt House by all means. Very clean, great management, great rooms, great complimentary breakfast, and a lot of stores and eating places close by. It is a couple blocks from the parks but, if you are very tired at the end of the day, taxi or UBER it. The walk isn't that bad. My better half stays there a lot when in the LA area on business. She can stay anywhere (within reason) she chooses on business, she stays at the Hyatt House. pixiedust:
