Hi all! :wave2: Welcome to my trip report! Thanks for checking it out!

Well, it’s almost time for another trip to WDW for DH and me (We leave in 45 days!:woohoo: ), so it’s time for me to write another pre-trip report. We are staying at Old Key West this time, and this trip will mark our 5th wedding anniversary!

If you already read my first trip report, Pengin and Princess Storm the Castle, you already know a lot about me and DH and our previous WDW vacations. I tried to change this up a bit for you. ;) If you haven't yet read my first trip report, WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?!?!?!? Read it now!!!! :rotfl:

I’ll start off with some introductions and then tell you more about our plans.

The Cast

Me/Lynda/PrincessLynda/Disneyfreak92/Cookieface - I am a lifelong Disney fan. I am a total Disney freak! (hence the screen name  ) I am a Disney Visa card-carrying, Walt Disney Collector’s Society member, DVC member, annual pass holder (Well, I will be again in May – our old ones expired in December! Egad!), and of course, DIS board member! My first trip was when I was 7, back in 1981, back when the Magic Kingdom was the only park. I do have some great memories from this trip. Ten long years later, in 1991, I made it back. I was 17 on my second trip, and there were 3 parks then. We went to all the parks as well as Universal Studios, Clearwater Beach and Tarpon Springs. What a trip! It was on this trip that I decided I wanted to be a movie director. This didn’t happen. After 2 years of film school, costs became an issue, and I left school and became a firefighter and paramedic for 5 years before moving back home and going back to school. I worked in customer service for several years and got my associates degree in Computer Information Systems. In 2002, I was married to my DH:love: , and of course we honeymooned at the happiest place on earth! I now work in a Human Resources department, and 13 years after leaving film school, I am now working towards having my own photography business. DH and I had to wait 3 years to return to WDW after our honeymoon, but we have been back 5 times since then, making this my ninth trip to the World!

122766448-M.jpg

DH/Josh/pengin/penguin77/Joshie – My hubby:lovestruc , finance manager at a car dealership, converted Disney fanatic, pin trader extrordinare, all around great, goofy guy. Now, when I say converted Disney fan, I mean he liked Disney movies, but had never been to WDW when we met, and after our honeymoon, he was hooked, and now, he wants to move there and become a DVC guide! We are targeting fall of 2008 for our move to Florida! ;) This will be his seventh trip to WDW!

122782604-M-1.jpg

My Mom/DM - The woman who originally took me to Disney, who we took to Disney in February of 2006, and who, when she doesn’t go to Disney with us, watches our cat, Oliver and our beagle puppy, Jasper.

123236280-M.jpg

Oliver - our 4-yr-old, fat, lazy, fluffy, needy, lovable, soft, orange and white, prissy, mama's boy cat who we adopted from the humane society in October of ‘05.

137946177-M.jpg

Jasper - our 1-yr-old, high-energy, absolutely adorable, relatively well-behaved, but occasionally-evil Beagle puppy.

Once again, I mention the pets because my mom will be staying with them, and there is a good possibility that I will receive entertaining phone calls from her about them while we are gone. Besides, they’re the only “kids” I have at this time!

Our 5th wedding anniversary is May 18th, and that is also the day we arrive at WDW! This will be the first time we have actually been on Disney property for our anniversary! :yay: (The past two years, we have arrived a few days afterwards.) And this is our first stay at Old Key West too. We have some other firsts planned as well. So we are excited!

We booked this trip back in December. Like I said, we are arriving on May 18th, we have a studio at OKW for the entire stay (another first for us – we usually stay off-site the night we arrive to save DVC points. Keep reading to see why we don’t have to do that this time!), and we are leaving on May 26th to begin the drive home. Yes, we drive 16 hours each way to get to WDW. DH has never flown, is a bit leery of it, and we like to have a vehicle with us (our van, The Disney Bus) and room to bring home all the stuff we buy while we’re there! Going in May every year between our anniversary and Memorial Day is pretty much a must for us nowadays. As I briefly mentioned, DH and I are DVC members. We bought into Saratoga Springs Resort back in 2005, and we just added on Animal Kingdom Lodge Villa points! When we added on, they were running a promotion for 100 “developer points”, meaning points that are one-time use and have to be used by a certain date. So, when we learned we were getting these, DH called member services to see if our ressies for May could be changed to use these points instead and bank our other points for use next year. We were able to do this, for the most part, and we now have extra points to use on our trip next May! (So, for that one, we are going to try to get a 1-bedroom villa at AKL!)

My best friend and her DH celebrated their 5th wedding anniversary by attending the rehearsal dinner for our wedding. Yes, we were married 5 years and 1 day after my best friend. So, that means that the day before our 5th anniversary is their 10th wedding anniversary! In honor of this momentus occasion, we invited them to join us on this trip. However, both BF and her DH work for a zoo as keepers, and this May, they have a work-related trip planned…to Australia! I believe my response was something like, “Wow! That will be amazing! No problem! You are invited again next year. WOW!”

DH and I decided to make it just us. And we cannot wait to go! We are both in vacation mode already, which isn’t necessarily a good thing when you have 45 days left before you leave! But we will make it. We have been tweaking plans this past weekend, and I think we have it all figured out now…maybe.

I am a big fan of Birnbaum’s guides. (We own several of these.) And I just recently got my Deluxe PassPorter for 2007! I had gotten my first one for our November trip last year, and I loved it! So this year, I got the deluxe edition so I could just order refills from here on out!

Here’s a run down of what we have planned.

The Itinerary

Thursday (5/17): I will be leaving work (hopefully early) to pick DH up from work, and we will hit the road. We are stopping in Dalton, GA to spend the night.

Friday (5/18): We arrive at WDW! :dance3: (probably around 3pm) We will check in at OKW (Welcome Home!), change, and get to MK as quickly as possible so that we can obtain anniversary buttons and walk around a bit just to soak it in :goodvibes and see if we get noticed by any CM’s.:rotfl: Then, we have ADR’s at Artist Point for dinner! (This being one of our dining firsts!)

Saturday (5/19): Epcot day! We have ADR’s for the character breakfast at Akershus! (another first) We will enjoy Epcot, probably eat at Seasons and Yakitori House (another first), and we are headed to Adventurer’s Club that night.

Sunday (5/20): MK day! We’ll sleep in a little following AC the night before. Then we have a lunch ADR at Les Chefs de France (another first), and then it’s off to MK for the rest of the day and night. EMH bay-be! We will pop over to the Poly for dinner at Kona Café. (yep, another first)

Monday (5/21): AK day! We plan to eat lunch at Pizzafari and enjoy a little bit of EMH before heading over to the Boardwalk for dinner at Big River Grill (a first) and an evening at Jellyrolls!

Tuesday (5/22): Free day #1! We have reserved the 9:30 Keys to the Kingdom tour! (This is a first for us also.) We have done Backstage Magic, but not Keys to the Kingdom, so we are excited about this! And that means lunch at CHH. Then, we plan to relax, do whatever we want, maybe DTD or the pool at OKW. Then we have dinner at Concourse Steakhouse (yeah, it’s a first). There are also EMH at Epcot if we need them for anything.

Wednesday (5/23): MGM day! We plan to try Backlot Express for lunch (a first), and we have ADR’s for Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater for dinner. We tried to book the Fantasmic package as a bit of an afterthought this past weekend, but they were sold out, so we might try the regular line for Fantasmic if we have time. (We’ve always done the package in the past.) We have EMH that night though.

Thursday (5/24): Free day #2! We are planning to try Typhoon Lagoon this day! Yep, you guessed it! Another first for us! And we are hoping our local friend will join us for this one. We’ll be eating at Leaning Palms there at TL for lunch, and we have late dinner ADR’s for Biergarten. (another first! This is getting comical. I should have just said what we are doing that isn’t a first!) And we are heading back to PI and Adventurer’s Club again!

Friday (5/25): MK day again! We’ll likely sleep in a little or take a break mid-day this day. We have ADR’s for dinner at Crystal Palace (Not a first! In fact, it’s our fourth time!), and there’s EMH at MK that night again.

Saturday (5/26): The day we leave. :sad2: We have breakfast at O’Hana with Stitch, Mickey, and hopefully our local friend. And then we will hit DTD a final time and/or finish up anything we need to do at any of the parks before hitting the road for home. :sad1:

So, that’s our plan. We do lots of pre-trip prep. It keeps us busy in the days preceding our trip so we don’t go crazy, and it prevents us from forgetting anything important! So, there will likely be more to report on prior to the trip.

We also have a lot of must-do’s, or traditions...

We must go to Adventurer’s Club and Jellyrolls while we are there! Love them both! (Have to request Rainbow Connection at Jellyrolls if Scotty is playin’!)

We must take Pal Mickey along to the parks with us! I just got a new Pal Mickey on the last trip because my 50th anniversary edition one was getting dirty hands, so now I have one to use and one to keep all nice. And Pal Mickey needs his own little suitcase (currently a used WDW bag) because I have all the little outfits for him! (Yes, I am a dork!)

I must get my pictures taken with characters! I am a really big dork about this.

We must do the O’Hana character breakfast on our last morning there. (It’s my favorite character meal!)

Then, there’s all the ride must-do’s, but I won’t get into that just now! That list could go on and on…

Now, the big question is...Will we make it through the trip without any injuries? :confused3 (Don't know what I'm talking about? READ MY OTHER TR! )

So, until next time…Thanks for reading and have a magical day! :wizard:

It was a tough decision, but I think we're going to wait and see about the Contemporary DVC. I still want to try out AKV, though! It's going to be an amazing resort when it's all done!

I can't wait to read all about your May trip! :goodvibes

Happy Planning!

I can't believe you even "said" that out loud!? NO! No injuries this trip!

Great start and great plan, Lynda!

I would LOVE to go to the AC but I'm afraid DH just won't "get it". Do they ID you there? Could Mimi go?

Did you use your Disney Visa to reserve Keys to the Kingdom? 20% off!

What route will you be taking? Do you go 57, 65 or 75?

Freaky BORG: Our anniversary is May 15 and we spent our 3rd anniversary at my DF's rehearsal dinner. No kidding.

Keep it comin', Lynda!

YAY!

NO INJURIES!!!! Knock on wood! :rolleyes1

Love your pet pictures! Those are better quality then most of my kids portraits!!! Maybe I'll have to hire you to snap a few of my kiddos when we meet!!!!

40 something days before you go? No problem! I did it too!

I can't wait to see the skinny-minnie you!

Well, thanks. I have an Sony Cybershot too! Don't use it for Wishes anymore though. I'll have to look at it. Maybe I could give you some settings tips if you want 'em. Just let me know! :) Although one BIG tip - a tripod, or at least a trash can (possibly with a mini tripod) or something to prop it on so it doesn't move while you are taking the picture. ;)

I LOVE going in May! :) Not too busy, and it is warm, but not super HOT. I can't wait for the anniversary dinner. Looking forward to Artist Point. Just never done it before. But I like trying new things. :) Thanks for the congrats! We had interest in AKL because we love the resort so. It's just beautiful! :cloud9: We are not as interested in Contemporary, although we do want to stay there sometime. I would :faint: over a DVC at Poly though! I adore that hotel!

Thanks and thanks for reading! :goodvibes

i would LOVE to have any tips for taking pics of wishes! i'm not patient enough to read the entire manual....i need the cliff's notes version!

Hi Lynda! :wave2:

So glad you started your Pre-TR! 45 days for you means 45 days for me too! Maybe only 44 if I can leave a day early! That does not seem like very long to me.

Your plans sounds great! We should definitely try to meet up for a mini-peep meet! I'll keep you posted on our itinerary...as soon as we make one.

Hi Lynda! We will just be missing each other! We are there May 13-20. I love your babies! They are so cute! We will be leaving our 4 year old German Shepherd home with my mom too. He loves it when Grandma comes to stay. He gains about 5 pounds while we are gone!
BTW, Artist Point is to die for!! Super Yummy!! The only thing that can top that for me is Citricous.

Nope! NO injuries! I am going to be sooooo careful on those darn busses!

They do ID to get in. However, at AC kids can get in with an adult. I have seen like 10 yr olds in there. So I'm sure Mimi would not be an issue, and I bet she would LOVE it! There might be a time that minors would have to leave by, but I am not aware of it if there is.

Ya know, I don't know what he did with Keys to the Kingdom! I will have to ask. We get so many different discounts with the Disney Visa, the DVC, and the AP's that I get confused about which one is best for what!

Our route is 57 to 24 to 75 (I think that's right!). So funny to hear you mention 57, as it runs right past us here in Champaign!

Freaky! :)

I will! ;) Thanks for reading!

Nope! NO injuries whatsoever! :)

Thanks! Sure! Aw! WHEN we meet! Can't wait! ;)

I think we will make it the 40 something days. Actually, I think it will start flying pretty soon! There is so much to do!

I have been tanning in preparation for the trip, so you will see the TAN skinny minnie me! :rotfl:

Thanks for reading! :)

Hi! Thanks for reading! :) (I'm reading yours too. Just haven't been able to post yet!)

WOOOOO HOOOOTY! ;) It really will be here in a flash! I just have these moments where I want to be there RIGHT NOW!

Oh, yes! We should definitely do the mini-peep meet! Keep my itinerary in mind when you do yours, K? :rotfl: Seriously though, keep me posted on your plans! :yay:

Well, we do arrive on May 18th, so keep an eye out on your last couple of days! We'll be the ones with anniversary buttons, LGMHPC, a big camera backpack, a big camera, & lanyards full of pins! Thanks! We are pretty fond of "The Fur", as we sometimes call them. (Sometimes we also call Oliver 'Sassy Pants' and Jasper 'The Evil'. :lmao: ) Awww! I love German Shepards! :goodvibes (DH calls them Harben Shnarbens, or something like that. He had one when he was a kid.) Yes, our furry kids LOVE Grandma too! She is such a sucker for their cuteness! Funny that yours gains weight when you are gone! So glad to hear good things about Artist Point! I can't wait! :yay: I am a Narcoosee's fan myself. We went there for our honeymoon and our 3rd anniversary. We will be going again in September! :cloud9: We did Citricos too, and that was good! The creme brulee I had ROCKED! Our server wasn't stellar though. We'll have to try it again sometime. :) Thanks for reading!

This is cool! I just finished your last report and now I can read a new pre trip! And I can't believe your friends would choose austrailia over disney!!!!:lmao:
