Love your report so far. Your pictures are great! Last year after the villian show in front of Cinderella's castle, the villians came out for pictures and autographs. Did they not do that this year?

They did. :thumbsup2 The only show they don't appear after is the one right before Hallowishes because they have to set up for the fireworks.

Of course that's the show I went to! So typical of my luck! :lmao: I'll have to remember that, so I can see them next year! I just recently found out that the characters hang around after shows. That makes sense now. I'm sorry I missed them! There's alwasy next year! :thumbsup2

Part 12: Dibs 'n Dabs

Day 2

I woke up to my cell phone alarm going off at 11:00am and I felt like I had just fallen asleep. I looked over and my Mom was still sound asleep in her bed. I couldn't believe it! My Mom never sleeps past 8:00am. I knew she must have been dead tired after our long night at MNSSHP!

I rolled out of bed and my feet hurt as soon as they hit the floor. We had reservations for afternoon tea at 2:00pm, so I had to get up and start getting ready. :goodvibes

I took a shower and then eventually woke my Mom up, so she could get ready. We were ready to go at around 12:45pm, so we decided to head out and enjoy the Grand Floridian.

I thought the mousekeeping had already been by our room, so we decided to call the front desk to see if they could clean our room after we left for the day. My Mom made the call and spoke to a "not-so-nice" woman, who told her they had already been by our room and would not be coming back. My Mom asked how we could get clean towels and she said we would have to come by the front desk. :laundy: My Mom was a bit annoyed when she hung-up the phone. I told her not to worry about and we happily went on our way.

We decided to drive because our car was right next to our building and we didn't feel like walking to the opposite side of the resort to the bus stop in the Florida record-breaking heat. :sunny:

The best part of driving around WDW is being able to really enjoy all of the sights! We got to the Magic Kingdom area and veered to the right to go to the Grand Floridian Resort.

n25002324_31132711_5984.jpg

The Grand Floridian was beautiful as usual and I just love the entire feel of the resort! It really is like stepping back in time.

n25002324_31132712_6367.jpg

My Mom decided that she wanted to valet park and I was all for it! Our feet were still killing us and we felt like going out in style today! :teeth:

n25002324_31132713_6767.jpg

We decided to walk around the outside of the resort, since we had some time to kill. The grounds are just beautiful and we even saw that they pressed "GF" into the sand in the ash trays! Now, that's high class! :lmao:

We found Mary Poppins outside of 1900 Park Fare!
n25002324_31132714_6857.jpg

We walked into the Grand Floridian and walked back to the Garden View Lounge. The entrances were roped off and it was empty. We were so excited to be there and couldn't wait for our tea! It was such an elegant set-up!

n25002324_31132715_7564.jpg

n25002324_31132716_7947.jpg

The Garden View Lounge didn't open until 2:00pm, so we had the first seating. My Mom and I took a seat in the lobby to wait and I decided to go find the bathroom.

Well, let's make a long story short and just say I had some bathroom mishaps that involved me dropping my sunglasses in the toilet, while it was flushing! :lmao:

By the time I got back to where my Mom was a line had formed near the check-in desk. We were the fourth group in line and I found out that two groups had already been seated. My Mom was wondering where I had been and I had to explain how I almost stopped-up the toilet! :rotfl2:

It was taking a long time for each group to check-in and I'm not sure what the problem really was. The couple in front of us checked-in and their reservations weren't unil 2:30pm. We gave our name and the lady behind the desk said nothing. My Mom asked, are we done? The woman finally looked at us and said yes. Wierd...

We went and stood near the entrance and then the couple in front of us was called to be seated before us. That really didn't make sense to me. Their reservations aren't until 2:30pm, but they get seated at 2:10pm? Our reservations are at 2:00pm and we checked in at 2:05pm? We still should have been seated before them according to our reservations. Makes no sense to me! :confused3

We were the only party left that had not been seated and we had to wait another 10 minutes! We were both getting irritated because nothing seemed to be running smoothly. Lucikly, that's not how the rest of the afternoon tea went! :)

Every party in front of us had been seated by the manager and I guess the woman at the check-in desk realized we had been waiting for way too long! She came over to us and then took us to our table. We were happy because we got a great table in the corner, so I was happy we weren't taken back to our table earlier.

I took a seat on the couch and my Mom sat in the chair. The tables were very little and I couldn't even cross my legs. I had to sit to the side to be able to do so. We just loved the atmosphere and were se excited to enjoy our tea!

Our server came over to us and she was just wonderful! She brought us a wooden box of teas we could choose from. How neat!

n25002324_31133205_8959.jpg

The teas all smelled so good and it was really hard to decide which one to choose! I got it down to two choices and finally went with the Eros tea!

n25002324_31133206_6624.jpg

My Mom decided to go with the Garden View Blend made special for the tea room! :)

Now, it was time to decide what to order to eat!

Thank you! :) Yes, I put the outfit together. It's actually all just normal everyday clothes, not a costume. I had already begun to buy stuff for Pirate Night on the Disney Cruise we are going on in May. Then, I found out about MNSSHP and my Mom and I decided we must go! :goodvibes It worked out great because we wouldn't have to spend a lot on costumes and my Mom wanted to be able to wear a little somthing too. :thumbsup2 I've got a great deal on this pirate stuff though because now I'm going to the Pirate Princess Party and then the Disney Cruise! I can use the same stuff over and over again! You can't beat that! :thumbsup2 Mickey is also set for the next two pirate events! pirate:

excellent report - I've never been to the Halloween party and now I feel as if I have! so looking forward to the rest of the tea as well so I can say I experienced that as well :rotfl2:

thanks so much for sharing!

Love all the pictures with your trip report!

Sounds like such great character interaction at the Halloween party.

You're leaving me hanging...what did you and your mom eat at tea???? See we are paying attention. Cherish these times with your mom (and make her be in a picture or two)! She sounds special.

You definitely need to write to Disney about this person if you have their name. I understand their policies on housekeeping, but towels should be delivered to the room.

Thank you so much! :) I'm glad you are experiencing a magical Disny vacation through my writing! That makes me happy! :teeth: I know that's how I feel every time I read someone's trip report! It keeps me going until my next visit! :wizard:

Thanks so much! We had the best interaction! All of the characters were really into it! Especially at Liberty Tree Tavern! I made sure to see a lot of characters during our MNSSHP trip. Usually, we don't have enough free time to really enjoy the characters and that was a priority for me this time! :goodvibes

Haha! :rotfl: I'm getting to it! I'm getting to it! :teeth: I have my usually late night trippie reporting! My Mom is very special and my best friend! I love her dearly and we do everything together. I enjoy every minute I get to spend with her! I try my hardest to get her in photos, but it's a struggle! I was so impressed that she got in as many photos as she did at our dinner at LTT! :goodvibes We had a blast together and my Mom is a big kid at heart! Before we left my Grammy told me that she was having the childhood she never had with me.

It wasn't so much that they weren't cleaning the room or bringing towels, but it was her attitude towards my Mom. We did not get her name and we really should have. I haven't written it in my report yet because I haven't gotten there, but when we returned to our room that afternoon it had been cleaned. I'm not sure if mousekeeping hadn't been by our room or they decided to go ahead and make a special trip back to our room for us. We were very happy to return to a clean room! :)

Yay for stepping up to the plate at least!

And I hate to run into an ill-mannered CM because there are so many good ones that it's a shame that someone has to sully the others hard work. I had a horrible experience with a CM at All Star Sports. I still can't get over it!

Part 13: We're Dibbing 'n Dabbing!

Our waitress came back and took our tea order and she said those were her two favorite teas! We made good choices!

It was such a neat experience! The waitess came over and placed napkins in our laps. Then, she poured us each our tea. There was a nice velvet Grand Floridian cover for our tea pots to keep our tea nice and hot!

n25002324_31133209_9472.jpg

I must say one of my favorite things was all the sugar cubes! I loved using the small tongs and plopping it into my tea cup! :goodvibes We went through about half the pot of sugar! :rotfl: I do have a sweet tooth!

My Mom and I had been looking online at the menu for months before our trip! :rotfl: We were so excited about this afternoon tea! We decided to start with the British Cheese Plate! There were many different yummy cheeses and fruits! We ate it all!

n25002324_31133215_3152.jpg

My Mom with her Garden View Blend! My Mom isn't even a big fan of hot tea and she loved it!
n25002324_31133207_7398.jpg

Here I am pouring the Eros tea! It was fantastic! I drank the entire pot!
n25002324_31133208_8865.jpg

We ordered the Sally Lunn Bread and it was so tasty! It reminded me of french toast, but it wasn't as sweet. It was covered in apricot preserves. We were loving our dibs 'n dabs! :hyper2:

n25002324_31133216_3724.jpg

Our wonderful and sweet waitress came back to our table to ask if we would each like the strawberries & cream or the English trifle. My Mom decided on the strawberries & cream and I asked how big the trifle was. She assured me that the strawberries & cream was a large serving and I would also not be disappointed in the size of the trifle! I said okay then, bring on the trifle! :teeth:

My Mom and I really enjoyed the waitstaff at the Garden View Lounge. They really wanted everyone to sit back, relax, and enjoy their time there. They didn't rush anyone at all and they wanted you to stay as long as you wished! :wizard: It was such a wonderful experience!

Mmmmm....the sweets were so good! :cloud9: The strawberries were so red and fresh!

n25002324_31133217_8765.jpg

n25002324_31133218_3031.jpg

I forgot to mention that I also ordered a side of pound cake! I just had to! :lmao: We had to do our afternoon tea properly! My Mom told our waitress that she didn't want any and the waitress told her that two pieces automatically came with the order. Well, that just meant more for me! :rotfl2: Bring it on!

I'm sorry I didn't take a picture of the pound cake, but it was lemon flavored and so good! It was very soft and moist! My mouth is watering just thinking about it! :bitelip:

Here's where it gets good! Our waitress came back to clear our table and said she'd be back in a few minutes.

I saw her coming back to our table and there it was...the Cinderella Slipper Dessert! :hyper:

She sat it down in front of me and my Mom looked at me and said...SURPRISE!

n25002324_31133219_3469.jpg

Awwww...thanks Mom!

It was the most beautiful dessert we had ever seen! We were in awe of how pretty it was and almost couldn't eat it. I did say almost!

n25002324_31133220_9169.jpg

I told our waitress I wasn't sure how we were going to eat this and she said she'd seen an older proper woman pick it right up, and take a big bite out of it! :rotfl:

It was very yummy and the white chocolate was so good with the raspberry sauce! The chocolate boat was very rich and some of the best chocolate I've ever tasted!

My Mom and I had a magical tea time and great memories to share forever! We decided that we definitely would come back in the future!

n25002324_31133247_8316.jpg

There is still more to come! The day isn't over yet!

That looks like so much fun! I stayed at the GF in September and passed by that lounge quite a bit and wondered about it. Now I know! I'm definitely going to have to try it!!

Thanks Fairy Tale Bride for your report on the tea at GF. I am planning to do that next year - it looks good. One question (if you remember) - I don't drink tea..do they serve coffee or soft drinks?? Silly I know, but the whole "afternoon tea" thing sounds lovely - except for the tea...!!! :confused3
I am enjoying reading about your trip - sounds like you are having a ball with your mother. Looking forward to reading more. Thanks for taking the time to fill us all in.

I was wondering that as well, actually. I like hot tea, but I'm afraid that I would become a bit parched with all that bread and cheese and need something cool.

The point of the afternoon tea is the tea, so I am not quite sure. I don't remember seeing anything else on the menu. You'd probably want to call and ask first to make sure you can get what you like. :)

I do know I saw a child get a drink in a paper cup with a lid and straw. They do have magical dark tea, which is chocolate milk for the kids! :goodvibes

You order what's like your main course that automatically comes with your choice of tea, like we ordered the Sally Lunn Tea. They have hot tea and cold tea. You can order champagne or a mimosa too! I did see a few of those! :thumbsup2

It's a must! I am so glad I found out about it here on The DIS! I think my Mom and I will have to plan on doing it again during our family trip in March! :thumbsup2

Great report and pics. You and your mom had a good trip! I learned a lot from your TR and picked up some tips. Your pirate outfit was too cute. My dh, dd, and I were all pirates for Halloween this yr. and we packed up our costume to wear to MNSSHP for next yr. My dh and dd were Jack Sparrow and my dh looked just like him. I loved your pirate Mickey you carried around everywhere. We bought a minnie pirate. And I bought one of the blow up Pirate Mickey's for outside that we are going to stick in our window @ Pop(4 feet tall). I've got to take pics of our window cause we go crazy! About 40 disney plushes. I hope I get to meet some dissers while I'm there. I have my lime green mickey head ready to put on my backpack!
Enjoyed your report!
Pam

OMG! That Cinderella Dessert plate looks yummy!...Keep it comming!

May I ask where you got Pal Mickey's outfit?
Right now I have mine in a Chicago Bears shirt with black tennis shoes from Build-A-Bear.
