Part 12: Dibs 'n Dabs
Day 2
I woke up to my cell phone alarm going off at 11:00am and I felt like I had just fallen asleep. I looked over and my Mom was still sound asleep in her bed. I couldn't believe it! My Mom never sleeps past 8:00am. I knew she must have been dead tired after our long night at
MNSSHP!
I rolled out of bed and my feet hurt as soon as they hit the floor. We had reservations for afternoon tea at 2:00pm, so I had to get up and start getting ready.
I took a shower and then eventually woke my Mom up, so she could get ready. We were ready to go at around 12:45pm, so we decided to head out and enjoy the Grand Floridian.
I thought the mousekeeping had already been by our room, so we decided to call the front desk to see if they could clean our room after we left for the day. My Mom made the call and spoke to a "not-so-nice" woman, who told her they had already been by our room and would not be coming back. My Mom asked how we could get clean towels and she said we would have to come by the front desk.

My Mom was a bit annoyed when she hung-up the phone. I told her not to worry about and we happily went on our way.
We decided to drive because our car was right next to our building and we didn't feel like walking to the opposite side of the resort to the bus stop in the Florida record-breaking heat.
The best part of driving around WDW is being able to really enjoy all of the sights! We got to the Magic Kingdom area and veered to the right to go to the Grand Floridian Resort.
The Grand Floridian was beautiful as usual and I just love the entire feel of the resort! It really is like stepping back in time.
My Mom decided that she wanted to valet park and I was all for it! Our feet were still killing us and we felt like going out in style today!
We decided to walk around the outside of the resort, since we had some time to kill. The grounds are just beautiful and we even saw that they pressed "GF" into the sand in the ash trays! Now, that's high class!
We found Mary Poppins outside of 1900 Park Fare!
We walked into the Grand Floridian and walked back to the Garden View Lounge. The entrances were roped off and it was empty. We were so excited to be there and couldn't wait for our tea! It was such an elegant set-up!
The Garden View Lounge didn't open until 2:00pm, so we had the first seating. My Mom and I took a seat in the lobby to wait and I decided to go find the bathroom.
Well, let's make a long story short and just say I had some bathroom mishaps that involved me dropping my sunglasses in the toilet, while it was flushing!
By the time I got back to where my Mom was a line had formed near the check-in desk. We were the fourth group in line and I found out that two groups had already been seated. My Mom was wondering where I had been and I had to explain how I almost stopped-up the toilet!
It was taking a long time for each group to check-in and I'm not sure what the problem really was. The couple in front of us checked-in and their reservations weren't unil 2:30pm. We gave our name and the lady behind the desk said nothing. My Mom asked, are we done? The woman finally looked at us and said yes. Wierd...
We went and stood near the entrance and then the couple in front of us was called to be seated before us. That really didn't make sense to me. Their reservations aren't until 2:30pm, but they get seated at 2:10pm? Our reservations are at 2:00pm and we checked in at 2:05pm? We still should have been seated before them according to our reservations. Makes no sense to me!
We were the only party left that had not been seated and we had to wait another 10 minutes! We were both getting irritated because nothing seemed to be running smoothly. Lucikly, that's not how the rest of the afternoon tea went!
Every party in front of us had been seated by the manager and I guess the woman at the check-in desk realized we had been waiting for way too long! She came over to us and then took us to our table. We were happy because we got a great table in the corner, so I was happy we weren't taken back to our table earlier.
I took a seat on the couch and my Mom sat in the chair. The tables were very little and I couldn't even cross my legs. I had to sit to the side to be able to do so. We just loved the atmosphere and were se excited to enjoy our tea!
Our server came over to us and she was just wonderful! She brought us a wooden box of teas we could choose from. How neat!
The teas all smelled so good and it was really hard to decide which one to choose! I got it down to two choices and finally went with the Eros tea!
My Mom decided to go with the Garden View Blend made special for the tea room!
Now, it was time to decide what to order to eat!
More Dibs 'n Dabs to come!
