Part 1: WE ALL SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM!

Day 1

Arrrrr! pirate: We just got back from our quickie Disney trip for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party! My Mom & I went as pirates and had a blast!

We had a wonderful Mother/Daughter two day trip! This is my first trip report and it will be short, sweet, and full of pics...so it'll be worth it!

Well, we spent 4 days visiting family in Florida, so on Thursday morning we woke up at my Aunt's house in Starke, FL and headed out at 9:00am for the 2-hour drive to Walt Disney World! :drive: It was humid, raining, and cloudy in Starke and we were hoping it would be nice at Disney. We knew rain would ruin the party!

We were going to MNSSHP tonight on October 19, so we knew we'd be rushing all day! Well, we entered the Orlando area around 11:15am with clear skies! :sunny: But...boy was it hot and humid! Come to find out...it was record breaking heat! We knew we'd be dying in our pirate costumes! :lmao:

Our first stop was Downtown Disney! I wanted to make sure to go to Ghirardelli's! I had never been and had read such wonderful things about it on The DIS! My Mom and I found a close parking spot and we couldn't believe the heat! It felt hotter now than it was when we were there in June for my wedding!

It was off to Ghirardelli!
n25002324_31120269_9417.jpg

I had asked my fellow DIS'ers what to get and I went with their suggestion and got the Cable Car! My Mom and I lucked out and got the last available table and took a seat. The Cable Car wasn't what I expected. I expected it to be in a glass, but no...even better!
n25002324_31120274_1495.jpg

The chocolate chip ice cream in the middle was fantastic! It seriously was the best chocolate I've ever tasted! :bitelip: I can't wait to go back and try some more! My Mom ordered the Triple Berry Sundae. Let me just say...we both finished ours! :teeth:
n25002324_31120273_6595.jpg

We then made our way to Goofy's Candy Co. I couldn't believe all the neat Halloween candy they had! It all looked so good! I loved all of the Halloween decorations and it was getting me very excited for MNSSHP!
n25002324_31120275_8967.jpg

n25002324_31120277_2465.jpg

I saw the Goofy's Glaciers as soon as we walked in and I told my Mom I had to have one!
n25002324_31120279_1086.jpg

I got in line and picked out the bottom and top for my cup...I decided to go with Mickey! :mickeyjum
n25002324_31120280_7916.jpg

I went with the orange and green flavored glacier! It was very cool and refreshing! Pooh even wanted to try some!
n25002324_31120282_2121.jpg

We then went to my fav store, the biggest Disney store in the world, World of Disney! I, of course, noticed all of the new displays and items for the Year of a Million Dreams!
n25002324_31120283_715.jpg

I get so excited when I go to this store, but the clock was ticking! I only had about a hour to shop because we had to try and check into our Resort by 2:00pm! We had to change and get to our reservations at Liberty Tree Tavern at 4:10pm, so we had to shop fast! I grabbed two shopping baskets and went on my way! My first stop was to create and decorate my own pirate hat! I wanted to get one to wear to MNSSHP! I filled up two and a half baskets full of goodies! I got a lot of Disney Halloween items...a bag, pumpkin candle holders, Mickey pumpkin lights, Halloween candy dish, photo album, and a Mickey ears pirate bandana! The deal they had going on was if you spent $60.00 you got a Disney blanket for $15.00! They were very nice too and I qualified to get two, so I got one for me and one for my Mom for $30.00! I also got 10% off my bill and saved $14.00 with my Disney Visa! That made me very happy! :teeth:

We made it back to the car and we're on our way to check into the All-Star Music Resort. We got there around 2:15pm and were the only ones there for check-in. They told us our room was ready...yay! My Mom and I were thrilled because we were afraid we may not be able to get in our room early enough to change.

It was my Mom's first time to a Disney Value Resort, so I was excited to show her how nice they were! Well, we got our room # and we were in room 6266, way in the back in the Country Fair area. I wasn't happy being so far away and in the very back of the Resort. It happened to me when I stayed at All-Star Movies too and was put in the back in the Mighty Ducks area. We got back in our car and drove all the way to the back of the resort and got lost trying to figure out where we were going! :lmao: We finally saw the big cowboy boots and knew that was our building!

We grabbed the luggage we needed with our pirate costumes and began the walk to our room on the 3rd floor! The sun was beating down on us and we were sweating!

I've got lots more to report and more pictures to post!!

what a fantastic start and I love YOUR PHOTOS........you took some great shots ...especially of that Cable Car.......I think I could do that when we go for Christmas and the MVMCP ......not much longer for us and you got me in the MOOD......thanks for your report .anxious for your Halloween party

Part 2: WELCOME TO OUR ROOM!

We then realized our room was all the way in the back too and our view was looking off the back into the woods! It wasn't the greatest location, but I looked at our window and saw a towel animal in the window! I was so excited because it was the first towel animal I had ever gotten in a room! I'm not sure what it is...bird? dragon?
n25002324_31120289_5994.jpg

We opened our room door and saw a towel Mickey on the bed! I was so happy! :teeth: The little things like that really make me happy and add that extra touch of magic to your vacation! :wizard:

n25002324_31120297_3827.jpg

n25002324_31120299_1456.jpg

I went to check out the bathroom and loved the hidden Mickeys on the shower curtain! Great touch! :thumbsup2
n25002324_31120298_4643.jpg

I then found another towel animal on the back of the toilet! :rotfl: What is it? Is it a ghost or an octopus? :confused3 It's cute either way!
n25002324_31120293_7391.jpg

We had about a hour to get ready and catch the bus to the MK! My Mom went back to the car to get the rest of our luggage and I had to decorate our window, DIS Style, of course! :thumbsup2 I was upset our room was so far in the back because not many people would walk by it and I wanted people to enjoy it. Oh well...
n25002324_31120291_3424.jpg

n25002324_31120292_3120.jpg

Thanks to all the fellow DIS'ers for the great DISigns! :artist:

Part 3: On our way to MNSSHP!

We quickly began to unpack our bags and pull out all our pirate gear! I've been planning for months! We had pirate boots, socks, stockings, jewelry, shirts, make-up, bandanas, etc! I also brought along my Pal Mickey, who was also decked out in his pirate costume! Mickey looked better than we did...haha! :lmao: Mickey also had his parrot friend and his trick-or-treat bag! You'll understand what I'm talking about once you see the pictures! :teeth:

We were dressed and ready to go, so off to the MK! We began the long walk from the back of the Resort to the front, where the bus stops were. We got a lot of strange stares because we were the only people in costumes. Some construction workers at the Resort made sure to yell "Arrrrrr!" to us and we yelled back! pirate: Everyone was walking by us in their bathing suits and there we were covered head to toe in our pirate gear....haha! :rotfl2: We tried to avoid walking by the large crowds at the pool. It was only 3:00pm, so there weren't many people dressed and ready for the party yet. We noticed the next day that most people weren't leaving until around 7:00pm or 8:00pm for the party. I don't know how they managed to get anything done with such a short period of time!

We walked through the Resort and then out to wait in-line for the MK! We got a lot of stares from everyone in-line who weren't in costumes. I guess they were just heading to the MK for a couple hours and leaving before the party. I got many compliments on my Pal Mickey! Everyone thought he was very cute!

The sun was killing us and we were drenched in sweat before the bus even got there! Well, finally the MK bus arrived after two AK buses, a Blizzard Beach bus, and an Epcot bus passed by us. We were happy to get two seats on the bus and we continued to get all the stares from the people not in costume on the bus. Oh well...

We finally arrived to the MK and hopped out of the bus!
n25002324_31120301_3781.jpg

We saw the sign for MNSSHP and walked over to where the line was forming. The CM said they would start letting us into the park in 10mins! :woohoo:
n25002324_31120303_6368.jpg

I noticed all of the new decor for the Year of a Million Dreams!
n25002324_31120304_9438.jpg

10mins finally went by and we got in line to enter the MK!

I don't know what was going on with the CM's, but they didn't have much control and didn't tell anyone what was going on! :confused3 We just stood there and I had to ask if we could stick our tickets through the machine. Then, there was one CM for each line putting on the purple MNSSHP bracelets and it took forever! They were spending 2mins on each person! I am so glad we showed up at 4:00pm when there was not a lot of people. I couldn't imagine how bad it would be with a large crowd! It wasn't a very good set-up. You think they would have figured that out by October 19. Sorry, I'll stop the complaining! I was too happy to really care, but I did notice!

WE MADE IT INTO THE MAGIC KINGDOM!
n25002324_31120306_5639.jpg

I then ran into a fellow DIS'er near the entrance of the park. I had a LGMH tied to the bag I was wearing and she spotted it! :thumbsup2 She said she was also on The DIS and her name was JJan! Shout out to her! :wave2: She told me to have a great time at the party and I told her to do the same! :goodvibes It then hit me that she had said her name was JJan and I thought that was so funny because my Mom's name is Jan! :teeth: She was on her way before I was able to tell my Mom what her name was. I then told my Mom and she thought that was pretty neat! I'm glad I was able to get a quick hello from a fellow DIS'er! I hope to find her on here! I've been searching! (Update: I found jjan! )

We couldn't get over how empty the park was! We loved it! We've only been able to visit during the summer in the past, so it was quite a shock to walk down Mainstreet without a crowd. We were also able to get right up to the Walt & Mickey statue without a crowd of people taking photos.
n25002324_31120307_9743.jpg

n25002324_31120309_8341.jpg

n25002324_31120311_2695.jpg

Then, I saw a fire engine with characters in front of the Castle go by and took off to go check it out because there were not many people around! I noticed Horace and Clarabelle on the fire engine car and couldn't believe it! I was able to get right next to them driving by and was glad I did!
n25002324_31120312_7868.jpg

The sign on the engine said it was the Family Fun Day Parade. I wasn't at the MK, except for MNSSHP, so I wasn't able to see anything else. I think they did hold the parade, but we were eating dinner by that time and missed it.

Next: Dinner with the Characters at Liberty Tree Tavern! :yay:

Great TR, Lindsay! You look so cute in your Pirate costume! I love how you and your Pal Mickey matched! Great pics! I am so jealous you got to go to MNSSHP :)

Awww! Thanks! :goodvibes Mickey looked better than we did and his costume was much cheaper...haha! :lmao: I hope I can get on here and continue the TR in a few. :yay:

Thanks! The Cable Car was so yummy! I am actually craving it right now just thinking about it! :bitelip: The chocolate was so creamy and not too rich...it was just right! :thumbsup2 I bet you're excited about MVMCP! I wish I could make it there this year, but will have to wait until next year. I will get to see some of the Christmas decorations when we are there for Thanksgiving, so I can get my fix! :teeth:

Part 4: ARRRR! BRING ON THE FOOD!

We made it over to Liberty Tree Tavern just in time for our reservation!

n25002324_31120316_9343.jpg

We went to check ourselves in and when I made the ADRs I told them I was a vegetarian, so the hostess asked if I wanted to see the Chef. I said well, it's really not necessary, but she insisted I speak with the Chef. She asked where we were from and we told them North Carolina! We took a seat to wait for our table to be ready. We were very impressed with how large the place was and how nice! My Mom and I had never been here before and we were excited to check it out!

n25002324_31120317_9828.jpg

We only waited about 5mins and we heard, "We'd like to welcome the Gravel family from North Carolina!"

We got up and followed our hostess. We were seated to the right in the front 2-seater table. Our waiter quickly came out to our table and took our drink order. He sat our bread and salad on the table, then he quickly took it away because he realized on the ticket it said I needed to speak with the Chef. I told him I was just a vegetarian and wasn't allergic to anything. I knew requesting to see the Chef was a bad idea. My Mom and I were dissappointed to have our food taken away. :sad2: He said he wasn't allowed to put any food on the table, until I spoke with the Chef. Well, he came back and put the bread and salad back on our table. He said it was okay, since I was just a vegetarian. Yeah, that's what I said!

n25002324_31120319_613.jpg

Then, we had a woman, who was obviously the Chef because of what she was wearing come to our table. She just stood there looking at us and said nothing, no introduction or anything! I had to speak up and say, well, I'm a vegetarian. It was all very akward and I don't know what her deal was. I told her the vegetarian option was fine and I already knew what it was because of The DIS! Anyway, it was a big fiasco and I don't know why! I have never had a problem in the past and I always noted that I was a vegetarian. Our service was perfect after that!

Minnie appeared behind us and I knew she'd be over to our table soon! Minnie approached us and began to admire my Mom's skull earrings. She then noticed my Mom's t-shirt and was trying to look at it. My Mom said it was Captain Jack Sparrow and she told Minnie, I know you have a crush on him too! Minnie covered her mouth and did a little giggle. My Mom said it was okay and that she wouldn't tell Mickey! :rotfl:

I told Minnie that I had Mickey with me and he had dressed up for the occasion. She quickly grabbed my Pal Mickey and gave him a kiss! She began to do the little laugh motions and cover her eyes. ::MinnieMo I told her I loved her ghost mask!

n25002324_31120354_5493.jpg

I told her I wanted to get a picture with her and Mickey! :cheer2: Mickey wanted the picture....haha!

n25002324_31120361_5073.jpg

I then saw Dale on his way over and he took my Mom's hand and gave her a kiss!

n25002324_31120355_5878.jpg

I must say that all of the characters got a kick out of my Pal Mickey and they went nuts when they saw him...haha! :joker:

n25002324_31120356_6248.jpg

I told Dale that I wanted to give him a kiss! He covered his eyes and got really shy...hehe! I told him I thought he was much cuter than Chip and that was our little secret, don't let Chip find out! Dale put his finger over his mouth and then gave me a loud kiss on my head...hehe!

n25002324_31120428_4883.jpg

Chip must have found out and made his way over behind me. He stole my pirate hat and my Pal Mickey! Chip put the pirate hat on his head and I told him he looked almost as good as Captain Jack Sparrow! I got a kiss for saying that! :teeth:

Great job! I'm really enjoying your pictures. Thanks for posting the link in your thread on the theme parks board!

Part 4: ARRRR! BRING ON THE FOOD!
Continued...

n25002324_31120359_8337.jpg

Chip made his way over to my Mom and I told him to giver her a kiss! It looks more like he's biting her head...haha! :lmao:

n25002324_31120429_5254.jpg

Our main meals were then brought out! I was surprised when they brought all of the items on a plate to my Mom and then just the vegetable couscous, Amber Waves of Grain, to me. I know in the past it was all brought in the middle of the table and the vegetarian option took place of the meat that I wasn't eating.

n25002324_31120363_9904.jpg

n25002324_31120364_331.jpg

The main reason I wanted to eat here was to enjoy the mac n' cheese and mashed potatoes! The only thing I wouldn't eat would be the meat. Well, I was upset that I had even told them I was a vegetarian and would rather have just eaten all the sides. That's usually what I do anyway. Our waiter came back to see how we were and I asked him if I could have my own mac n' cheese and mashed potatoes. He said sure and walked away. He came back with big bowls of mashed potatoes and mac n' cheese! I was very happy! :teeth:

n25002324_31120366_1118.jpg

My Mom didn't understand why they didn't bring it all out like that to begin with because what if she wanted seconds. It is all you can eat! We had a lot of food and we weren't able to eat it all because it was so much! We were both very impressed and thought the food was very good! I was really enjoying that mac n' cheese! :teeth:

Pluto made his way to our table in his cute pumpkin costume! I also told him I loved his collar, it was the Liberty Tree! I gave Pluto a kiss and he got very excited!

n25002324_31120433_6740.jpg

You gotta love Pluto! I told him I had his best Pal Mickey with me! He was very happy to see him!

n25002324_31120362_3967.jpg

We told our waiter we were ready for our dessert! :goodvibes He cleared our table and brought out the apple cobbler! It looked so yummy! :bitelip: He also brought us our check and told us he'd take it whenever we were ready, no rush. My Mom picked up the check and was looking at it. I saw Goofy sneaking up behind her and he gave her a big hug! Goofy then took our serving spoon for the apple cobbler like he was going to serve us dessert. My Mom said, "No, you can take care of this" and handed Goofy the check...haha! :lmao: I told Goofy he should have enough money to take care of it. Goofy took our bill and walked away to another table. He dropped our bill at their table! :rotfl: My Mom and I were cracking up and so were a few other families around us. :lmao:

Goofy was so tall! It was impossible for me to get him completely in my camera shot! :rotfl2: Here he is taking our bill away!
n25002324_31120431_2592.jpg

He then came back over to my Mom and dusted his hands off because he had completed the task. My Mom said "Good job Goofy!" and gave him a high-five!

Goofy then began to serve us our apple cobbler!
n25002324_31120432_7997.jpg

My Mom and I were laughing and I told Goofy I like a lot of ice cream! He put the entire scoop of ice cream on my plate! He then gave my Mom and I each a small plate with some cobbler on it. Goofy took the large plate! :rotfl2:
Thanks Goofy! :goofy:

n25002324_31120357_467.jpg

n25002324_31120358_666.jpg

Here's what our dessert looked like after Goofy served it and we dug in!

n25002324_31120434_7117.jpg

Goofy made his way over to the family at the large round table next to us. I noticed his extra large foot that blocked the entire walkway! I told his handler that they needed a caution sign for that thing! It was too funny because he was bent down to be in the pictures with the kids at the table and everyone walking by was having to step over his foot! :rotfl2:

Next: Time for MNSSHP!

Great report and pictures, looking forward to the next installment! :teeth: pirate:

So many wonderful pictures! Love your trippie..keep it coming!

Great pics & trip report! Glad to see those LGMH's came in handy! :thumbsup2 My little sister has been begging me to take her next year. And I haven't told her yet, but my mom and I are surprising her with a trip. Looks like there's lots to look forward to! :goodvibes Thanks!

Yes they did! I hung them proudly in our window and on my bag! Thanks so much again! :thumbsup2 That will be a wonderful surprise for your sister! I'll be sure to be there a couple times next year! Hopefully, it won't be as hot! :sunny:

Great trip report! :thumbsup2 It is so fun to run into fellow DIS'ers. Wasn't it amazing the trouble the ticket guys were having at the gate... it definitely looked like 'User error' :lmao: Sorry we ran off so fast, but we were ready to hit the ground running since it was our first day and our first park :goodvibes

You are the first DIS'er I actually ran into in a park and it was the first time I made sure to wear a LGMH! :thumbsup2 As soon as I walked into the MK...I met a DIS'er...hehe! Lucky me! :goodvibes I couldn't believe how hectic it was getting into the park! I don't understand why they didn't have a better plan and have it more organized! Oh well... I was so excited and my head was in a fog when we entered the MK, so I was out of it myself when you came up to me...haha! :lmao: I know you probably understand how I felt with all the excitement built up! :goodvibes We had just gotten to WDW and it was a very hectic day! We didn't stop all day and we didn't get back to the resort until around 2:00am, but we had a blast! It was such a fun night! :hmghost: :hmghost: :hmghost:

Part 5: THE PIRATES ARE GONNA PARTY!

Of course, we had to begin the Halloween party with The Haunted Mansion! It is one of our favs and I have loved it ever since I was little! My Mom and I thought it was a lot darker during the ride than usual. I was just there in June and I didn't remember it being so dark inside. There wasn't a line, so we walked right into the Haunted Mansion! I noticed that all of the CM's at the HM also had make-up on their faces for MNSSHP with their regular HM outfits. They wanted to look extra scary and dead for the party I guess! :hmghost:

n25002324_31120439_9110.jpg

I finally had the chance to find Mr. Toad in the Pet Cemetary! I found out about him here on The DIS and wanted to make sure to find him to show my Mom. I climbed up on the bench to get a good look and there he was! My Mom thought that was very neat and couldn't believe they put Mr. Toad in there! We got some strange looks from people walking by us wondering what the heck we were taking pictures of and so excited about! My Mom and I had gotten a lot of those looks today so far! :rotfl2:

n25002324_31120437_6080.jpg

A closer look...

n25002324_31120438_2100.jpg

We found the hitchhiking ghosts' picture around the corner that was set-up early for MNSSHP. I thought maybe they'd be doing some special photos with it later when the party began, but it looked like there was just a photopass photographer there taking photos of you in front of it. :confused3

n25002324_31120441_9994.jpg

7:00pm was quickly approaching and all of the decorations were popping up everywhere! I don't know how they got there or so quickly, but I turned around and there they were! I loved all of the ghosts hidden around the park and I found the Fairy Godmother ghost hidden in a store. I looked up and there she was! It was so cute! I had to call my Mom over to see it and we just loved the Cinderella's coach purse she also had! :wizard:

n25002324_31120440_3947.jpg

I walked back up near the entrance of the park to grab my Mom and I trick-or-treat bags because they were not handing them out when we arrived earlier. My Mom went to rent us a locker because we had bought so many goodies already and didn't want to carry them around with us all night.

n25002324_31120443_771.jpg

n25002324_31120444_3314.jpg

n25002324_31120445_3003.jpg

We decided to hit Fantasyland first because I figured it would be the most packed area of the night. We had our schedule mapped out with all of the MNSSHP activities that we must go see and do! We had a busy night ahead of us for sure!

n25002324_31120446_1854.jpg
