After our late dinner at Narcoosee’s , we slept in Sunday morning. I woke up before DH, so I went down to Muscles and Bustles and did a little marathon training. By the time I finished at the gym, DH was up and hungry. So I showered quickly and we made our way down to the bakery. We used two snack credits to get a chocolate croissant & a blueberry muffin (coffee and tea were free with our mugs). We sat outside on the board walk and enjoyed watching people walk by.
Fueled up, we headed to EPCOT. Of course, like everyone else that goes to EPCOT, we headed to get Soarin’ fast passes. The park was packed at 10 am and the return time for Soarin’ Fast passes was already 4:30!! Wow! We weren’t planning on staying in EPCOT the whole day so we didn’t get the passes and headed back upstairs in search of a ride with a smaller line. However, our trip to the Land was not in vain…Mickey, Chip, and Dale were at the top of the stairs!! After a couple of photos we headed back out into the HOT FLORIDA SUN.
Of course the first thing we saw was the giant golf ball. So we said, “Why not?” When we arrived at the golf ball, the line was long! Three or four tour groups were in front of us. Singing and creating a very festive atmosphere.
This picture shows the line and some of the Brazilian tour group in front of us. So many tours of Brazilian students are here right now. I guess it is their winter right now so they are getting warm.
We loved Spaceship Earth. I could tell that DH’s esteem for EPCOT increased after this ride. As soon as the ride ended, he asked me for the EPCOT brochure because he wanted to look at the park map to figure out where to go next. We actually only had 30 minutes before our ADR at Coral Reef, so we ducked into Innovations East to enjoy the A/C and escape the blistering heat. Inside Innovations, they were just starting a 25 minute tour of the house of tomorrow (not sure of the exact name). It was an interesting tour and fun to see the gadgets. DH is a huge fan of technology so he really appreciated the tour. After the tour, we headed to Coral Reef for our lunch. I’ve never been to Coral Reef before so I was crossing my fingers that it would be good. We really enjoyed our lunch. Phew! I always worry that something won’t be good and I want DH to love everything. I had the Shrimp Cocktail, Lobster Salad Sandwich, and Mango Sorbet. DH had the surf & turf appetizer (grilled shrimp and steak skewer), Lobster Salad Sandwich, and the Chocolate Wave.
DH with his second lobster meal of the trip.
For being only one dining credit, I think Coral Reef is a dining plan value. I loved the blue and green tile work on the walls. The restaurant has a very soothing atmosphere. At the end of the meal, DH asked our waiter why the sharks weren’t eating up all the little fish (something he had been watching for the entire meal). He was ready to see some carnage! Our waiter actually had the answer. Disney being the family friendly place that we all know and love has trained its sharks to be gentle! They feed them sliced up pieces of fish but lay them at the bottom of the aquarium. Disney sharks do not associate swimming fish with food. Plus they feed them often, so they are never hungry.
After lunch we went to Imagination, where we were able to walk onto Journey Into Imagination With Figment ( I would never wait for this ride but I bet little kids would like all the colors and movement on this ride—plus it was Air Conditioned). Then we went to Honey, I Shrunk the Audience. DH and I both love 3D movies so we liked this one a lot. The special effects (chair bouncing, mice by your feet, and water) made it exciting.
After Imagination, we decided to go back to our room. I had promised DH that he could have a nap today since we were going to Extra Magic Hours at Magic Kingdom tonight until 2 am. On our way out we hit the gift shops. In England, DH bought a cute Beatles Yellow Submarine t-shirt. I really liked this Mickey Apron (I cook a lot more now that I am a wife!!). I didn’t buy it because I am trying to limit myself to one souvenir so I will wait to later in the week to make my souvenir decision.
