we are going to buy enough points for a 2 bedroom, 1 week, magic season. problem is they state 8 people plus 1 child under 3 in crib. we would have that exactly plus one more 8 yr old. will there be any flak about the extra child. they would have to be aware of him because of dining plan, tickets, etc. if they would not allow that it would throw our whole plan into turmoil. anyone have any experience with this situation?

Not necessarily the exact solution you're looking for, but if you buy into AKV, most 2 BR (except value rooms in the converted section I think) will sleep up to nine since it has an additional chair that converts into a single bed in the living room, similar to the couch being a pull out that sleeps two. One of these rooms would be your solution now, but if you will always have the numbers you mention (total of 10 if I understood it right) then it will not always be a solution because one day the one who is under 3 will get older than that (I've always been great at overstating the obvious). In this case, AS FAR AS I KNOW, you would either have to opt for a grand villa or go with maybe two one-bedroom units (again, most sleep five in AKV) or some similar arrangement.

Of course, whereever you buy you can book AKV, but you probably have a better chance at getting your wanted room types and dates at the 11 month window since AKV would be your home resort.

Sorry, but they won't allow you to go over the occupancy limit. There are some 2-bedrooms at AKV that will allow 9 plus a child under 3, but that is the only resort where you will be able to stay, as all the other DVC bedrooms allow 8 plus 1 under 3 . And once that kid reaches 3 years, you won't even be able to stay in a 2-bedroom at AKV. They'd only book you into a grand villa.

Sure, some people will 'sneak' the extra kid in, but I don't think you'll want to do that for decades of DVC resort stays. One person would be off the dining plan, one would be unable to go to EMH, one wouldn't be able to use Magical Express, etc.

You can certainly still do DVC, but you'd need to re-figure your point needs for grand villas.

You didn't mention which resort you were looking at, but AKV 2 bedroom villas state 9 as the official occupancy. You probably wont be allowed to have 9 in a 2 bedroom of the others and do dining plan etc.

I didn't realize that the living rooms had an extra bed. Would it be possible to rent a one bedroom at AKV and then could we fit five plus a child under three in a crib?

Yes, the AKV 1 bedrooms sleep 5 plus a child under 3.

Except for the Value Room category. Those 1-BR only sleep 4. All others sleep up to 5, but it will be a little tight since there is less square footage in the converted AKL villas.

That is one of the big selling points for AKV, the additional one person sleeper chair in the living room. You would be able to do what you ask at room categories above Value since the Value 1-bedroom villas do not have the sleeper chair and can only accomodate 4 plus a child under 3.

Again, it will be tight in the converted AKL villas since they have less square footage. It will work a whole lot better for you when they complete Kidani. Until then, you may still want to go with a two-bedroom so it is less cramped, and also so you get that second bathroom, which is not available in the AKL 1-bedrooms, but will be a part of the Kidani floor plans.
