I have a vacation idea that doesn't include Disney. I know, I know. Probably not a good idea, but I was thinking of planning a trip in the summer of 2011 and going to Gatlinburg, TN. We are all booked up in 2010 at FW so there goes that vacation year, but DH has never been to Gatlinburg and the surrounding area and I remember if fondly from my trips as a kid. I was looking at the Twin Creek RV Resort. I wanted someplace close and this has trolly service to Gatlinburg and I think there is a car rental place on-site. Has anyone had any experience with Twin Creek that they would like to share? I know it's a while off, but I am a planner. DH can attest to the time I take planning a FW trip and we go there all the time.

Any questions about the area or campgrounds I can totally help you with. I live in the area and not only do I camp there I run a camping club called East Tennessee Camping club.
The campground is very well maintained and a nice place to camp. They have the cutest dog run and it right across the street from Food city and next to the trolley station but the trolley will pick you up right there. I don't camp there because it seems like more of a enclosed TT or motorhome park and I have hardly ever seen a popup there and that is what we camp in.
If you wouldnt mind staying in pigeon forge or sevierville let me know I can give you campgrounds in that area to stay. I stay in Pigeon forge because it is close to all the attractions and the outlets and driving from gatlinburg to the outlets can take over an hr on busy weekends.

Thanks for the info. I'll keep you in mind. We will be without a car since we have a Class C and don't tow. That's one of the pluses for Twin Creeks.

Your dogs will love the dog run (if your bringing them). They have the cutest big fire hydrant in the middle for the dogs to do their business on. we thought it was cute and there are benches for you to sit on inside so you can let them run and play.

Yes, we will be taking the dogs with us. We don't travel without them.

We always try to bring a little Disney with us when we go someplace.
