Twenty-plus Inches of Rain, Eight-dollar ponchos, and perpetually pruny feet!

We are a pretty close-knit family...no real issues or clashing personalities. I love them dearly and am happy to say that after spending 24/7 with 10 of them, I still have a wonderful relationship with all of them! In fact, they are all comong over for a Memorial Day BBQ on Monday...

Day 0

Saturday May 16th

It's cool and sunny at 6 am in Boston.

Kids are pumped to go on the airplane and get a huge kick out of being in the airport. Who knew Logan would be such a hit? We depart on time (I'm a huge fan of JetBlue after this trip-they were fantastic!) and arrive at MCO a few minutes ahead of schedule.

Magical Express arrives and whisks us off to Port Orleans Riverside.

I remember so vividly coming here on our trip in college (1999) when it was Dixie Landings and it seemed so luxurious! Our check in is a disaster-we spend 45 minutes checking in 3 rooms and it's still not resolved. Issues with the room key/dining plan/credit card abound. Luckily, our strollers are waiting for us and they are awesome!

We dumped our stuff in the rooms and headed to Epcot for our early dinner reservations at Teppan Edo. Typical Japanese hibachi type food and the service was GREAT! We had a bit of a learning curve with the Disney Dining Plan and it took a bit to square away 11 meals but it was GOOD. Our server (Tom) was funny and entertaining. The kids loved the onion volcano.

After dinner we went to Magic Kingdom to catch a parade (can't remember which one) but there were issues with our cards again. The Guest Services people informed us we had already been in one park that day and could not enter. After another 40 minutes on the phone with our hotel it was straightened out. Sheesh! Where is the freaking magic, people?

We should have relished that day b/c we were in for a week of rain...

Sunday, May 17th

Magic Kingdom! So much fun in the daytme when one is not swimming upstream during a parade! The weather held up for a bit...

We were there with you Lydia and all I can say "WOW". I've never seen it rain that much in Orlando EVER!!!! Now I know why we only go in December. Anyway it was the worst trip ever in terms of weather. I hope you kept recycling your ponchos once they tore. We turned ours in 4 times. I don't think I'm gonna do a TR as i'm too disappointed with the trip caused by the deluge of rain. Only had 8 hours of descent weather on Thursday which was the only bright spot of the trip.

Hi Lydia,
My daughter and I were there 5/16 till 5/21. We have been there 2 other times at the same time and the weather was perfect. I have only been in FL with that much rain with a hurricane & tropical storm. We made the most of our time. Hope the rain didn't dampen your time.

That night, my SIL K and SIL J sat outside of our rooms while the kids slept and the guys went out for a beer. It was so nice, listening to the rain and drinking wine. We dragged the chairs from our rooms out and sat under the covered walkway and just gabbed. One of the best nights we've had in a long time!
