Disney does so many different surveys, probably hundreds of different questions every year to try every possible scenario. I've ordered research at my company for product and pricing, and we'll test so many things that range from reasonable to on the outside of reasonable. It's interesting that the press makes such a big deal about these survey questions, and even individuals on Twitter -- whereas I think it's just speculation.
Yes, technically Disney is considering getting rid of those passes. But Disney might run 50 different survey questions with 50 different product configurations to see if any of them stick. If I were them, I'd want to know how many people would buy admission for $70/day and $200/day and every price point in between, so I can graph it out and find the best number. It doesn't mean I'll actually charge either of those prices though, but the headlines would read "Disney considering dropping its price" and "Disney considering doubling its price."
