My daughter mentioned this year that she would like a magazine subscription for Christmas. She mentioned Seventeen magazine, which I have not picked up since I, myself, was about 15. :lmao:

Even though she is 12 is Seventeen the "go to" for fashion, makeup, hair, etc? That is what she is looking for - one for fashion type ideas...not necessarily the articles on how to deal with boyfriend issues etc. :lmao:

I will have to check out the magazines next time I'm at the store...but what are the go to magazines these days for fashion, makeup, hair?

Last time I saw a Seventeen, it had a lot of sex and relationship stuff in it, but this was at least a few years ago. (I was bored in an airport, haha.) I don't know that I'd give it to a 12 year old if that's their regular content.

I can't help with tween girl magazines -- I have boys who are content with ESPN magazine and SI. However, when you go for the subscription, use discountmags.com -- really good prices and sales.

I find Seventeen to be way too mature for my DD14. Seems more appropriate for 17 and over. My DD is very into fashion: clothes, makeup, celebrities. She really enjoys Teen Vogue magazine and for her celebrity stuff J14.

I don't know if it's still around but I used to get my daughter "Girl's Life". There was one other one that I can't remember the name of.

She may also like Teen Vogue. It has nothing but fashion, hair, and make up stuff in it. My daughter has had a subscription since she's 12. You can get good deals on it --- just go to the store, take one off the shelf and take one of the many subscription cards that are in it. I think I paid $10 for 2 years.

DD14 likes Teen Vogue (fashion and makeup) and J14 (celebrities). She still enjoys Discovery Girls, but that is more about friendship.

My DD is 13. I think that the content in Seventeen is questionable at times.

My DD subscribes to Teen Vogue, Justine, and Girls' Life.

I'm 25 and I'm still not sure that seventeen is appropriate for me. :rotfl2: When I was younger I got the american girl magazine and girls life. No idea if those are still around.

Perfect! Teen Vogue sounds exactly like what I'm looking for! She wants the makeup, hair, fashion, and maybe some celebrity stuff. Teen Vogue sounds like it will fit the bill!

Thanks!

Seventeen Magazine is not appropriate for ME either and my age begins with a 4_.

Thanks for the tip on discountmags.com I was able to get my DD a Teen Vogue subscription for 1.00 a copy.
