Hi all! Long-time lurker, first-time poster with a question.

I'm heading down to WDW in a few weeks with my DNiece (11) for a girls bonding trip. It's only her second trip and the first without her other siblings. She likes to try new foods, but then generally goes back to the basics. So I'm trying to think of a restaurant that would give her a chance to try something new but still have a back-up if she doesn't like it. I personally love Boma and thought that might be fun, but I'm not sure what her reaction will be. Do kids (tweens) usually like Boma? And what other ideas do you have?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

My DD is 11 and LOVES Boma.. and has for a while. Its a must do for each trip. In fast I think she would eat there every meal if she could. She also like Park Fare with the Step Sisters... they are a riot. She also wanted to eat at Tutto because of the hot italian guys but she is a little boy crazy so that one may not count lol.

My son is 14 and he loves Boma. He is an adventurous eater, though. Some other restaurants he considers must-dos would be T-Rex, WCC, 'Ohana for both breakfast and dinner, Biergarten and Marrakesh. He does also like Coral Reef as well.

DD 10 didn't seem overly impressed with Boma. She does like Garden Grill where the restaurant moves. Although she didn't say much here, I agree with PP that any Tweener would like Coral Reef. Would probably like the show offered at Teppan Edo as well, but like others, we have these restaurants in our own city so it's just not as exciting going in WDW.

My DD14 loves Boma because it has a large selection of foods. There are things with flavors that are new, but also things that are more classic.

I asked my DD (who has been going to WDW every year since she was 1) for suggestions and here is what she said: A lot of the world showcase restaurants are fun. Her favorites are: Biergarten (nice variety of food, plus you have the show here as well), San Angel Inn (likes to have the chips with salsa), Chefs de France (Everything is good here. There are more adventurous items as well as mac and cheese if you want something more familiar) and Teppan Edo (The food here is fairly normal, but the way they serve it makes it a very unique experience. The sauces are served on the side, so they can be tried if you are adventurous.) Other ideas from her are: Mama Melrose (good specialty pizzas), SciFi (This is mainly for the atmosphere. Food here is pretty tame, such as burgers and other sandwiches), Tusker House (The buffet here has so many items to choose from there is certain to be something everyone will enjoy), and Yak & Yeti (The food here is just different from anywhere else on property.) For a very special meal, our DD's favorite is Citricos. ::MinnieMo

Thanks so much for the ideas! I hadn't thought of some of those. I think she will really like the World Showcase restaurants. I'll have to run some of them by her and see what she thinks. I can see her really enjoying the Teppan Edo show. We're all very PA Dutchy here and Biergarten is pretty much the same food we eat at home so we'll probably skip that one. :)

Thanks again!! :thumbsup2

My dd is 11 and she loves Boma, Tusker House, Chefs, Biergarten, Le Cellier, Mama Melroses and Tony's Town Square (loves spaghetti--we're doing Tutto on our next trip), The Plaza (ice cream desserts! LOL), 50's Prime Time, and she still likes going to Crystal Palace for both the food and characters. : )

I think either Boma or Tusker House are good choices. There are some new items to try, but there are also the usual mac & cheese and chicken nuggets in case the new items aren't appealing.

50's Prime Time is enjoyed because of the milkshakes, food, atmosphere, and antics. My dd loves the antics. If you eat there, just make sure you explain ahead of time that sometimes the servers joke around a lot. It's a fun place.

My dd isn't big on seafood (which is why I didn't list Coral Reef above), but LOVES the atmosphere of Coral Reef. Loves it! If your dn likes seafood, this could be a nice place to go.

I would say no to Boma for a picky person. We ate there in January and really had trouble finding food we were willing to eat (and we are not that picky). I have heard that Tusker House is like Boma-light, so maybe that is a better option. We also enjoy trying things at all of the world showcase restaurants, depending on the cuisine she enjoys.
