Can someone please take pity on me and give me a "tv remote control for dummies" version of how to use this thing which is at BCV? It was not at BWV when I stayed there last November.

All I want to do is easily scroll through the tv channels, and lower the volume.

I don't see a model number on it, which would have let me google it.

I hate that remote!! We had to call housekeeping and have them explain it to us when we were at BCV.
Those skinny keys are the problem. DON’T PUSH them IN….instead, use your finger nail to TOGGLE up or down. If you push it in, you have to just shut off the tv to reset it, and then turn it back on. I think the left skinny key affects the sound and the right skinny key affects the channels.
Good luck!!

Thanks - and it makes me feel better that I'm not the only one!

I should have come on here last week when we were trying to Cast to the BCV TVs from an iPhone and asked for help! We never could figure it out even though it worked fine at Aulani and Grand Cal so far this year (and appeared that it would have also worked at Poly at the start of our stay).

My parents have bought a new Samsung TV and have the same remote. It's awful, they hate it. They ended buying a new universal remote and forgetting that one exists.

I really appreciate all the info here. I'm terrible with remotes-and I have a stay at BCV scheduled in a few months. Since last time I was at another DVC hotel (Kidani) I had to call for assistance, I'm sure I would have had to here too. Now maybe I'll read enough so I'll actually be able to walk in, turn on the TV to whatever channel I want. For me, it'll be a first!

Funny, of all my remotes, my Samsung one that’s similar to the one posted is my absolute favorite. It took a little while to adjust to it after years of using the big clunky ones w/ lots of buttons, but once I got the hang of it, I really like how easy it is to for me to navigate to what I want to watch on Netflix, YouTube, Prime, etc., & to move from one streaming service to another. 🤷‍♀️.

It's sort of like you push them north or south. You do not press down on them, the way you press down on an on/off button.
