TUT TUT...It Looks Like RAIN! A Nikki and Tom August Adventure! BABY PIC pg. 23!!! :)

I've never straggled behind at Epcot, but I do at Mk...I love that alone time.

I also have on my To-Do the Animation Academy!! And you get a free souviner out of it! Although I'm not sure how I will get them back to the resort since I plan on only having a VERY small bag! (May change)

Love the empty Epcot pics! Those are great!!

Never did it with MK. I don't really love it there at night for some reason, I usually just want to get the heck out of there!

I always have a hair tie or two on my wrist so I used that to roll them up and keep them small without folding it. They fit in my hipster just fine for the rest of the night.

Whoa - I'm late! Great trip report so far! I really miss the Golden Girls house :( I watch Golden Girls on TV because it reminds me of Disney! Crazy, I know.

Bri is an awesome artist!!!

We ate at Sci-Fi for the first time on our last trip the week before you went. Since there was just the three of us, we sat at a "saucer" table in the back. That's one of the ones that is like a sparkly shiny picnic table with a flying saucer umbrella. Being along the back wall, you'd think we'd have trouble seeing, but our view was excellent. Heidi was a little disappointed that we weren't seated in a car, but the cars were all full. We did walk-up, no ADR. We enjoyed it. I had the veggie burger and Henry had a plain hamburger, I don't remember what kids meal Heidi got. She wanted a light up tinkerbell that they serve on the drinks...the waitress asked her if she had $3.00 (or something like that) from her allowance to pay for it. She said she did. So then later, the waitress comes back with the Tinkerbell and says she can have it..no charge. She was so charmed that Heidi was willing to pay for it with her own money, so she brought her one free..and of course, Heidi is so darned cute anyway! Cute gets you a lot of stuff at Disney I discovered!princess:

We also did the Animation Academy both in June and in August. We drew Dug the first time, and Winne the Pooh the second time. It was fun..but it was slightly annoying that my totally non-artistic scientist husband's looked just as good as mine! :artist: Just not fair! He probably laid a graph over it in his mind! ;)

We often walk the opposite way out of EPCOT..I really enjoy the empty World Showcase. All summer, The Land pavilion was open til 11pm, even though the rest of the park closed...so its not like you're gonna miss a bus. The monorail however, stops running at 10...so they say!

Great updates, I'm finally caught up! :thumbsup2 Oh my gosh, I completely agree with you about the Backlot Tour - when I was a kid, I LOVED it!!! But the time I went and discovered no more Golden Girls house, I was heartbroken. :sad2:

Hope your first week back to school has been going well! TGIF!!! :goodvibes

I love reading your trip reports. We seem to alternate our trips down to WDW. I have one coming up for the food and wine and I love seeing the pictures you post they seems to help get me excited! (not that I need help with that but the pictures seem to make it more real)

Yes, we will be there for food and wine. We were there last year too, but with the kids didn't get too enjoy it thoroughly.

Hope your first week at school went well.

Loving your report...especially going to Epcot pulling Soarin FP and having a nice breakfast at Sunshine seasons! Why didnt I ever think of that? It is a great idea and we will definitely do it next time!

The pics on the way out of an empty world showcase are beautiful:)

Better late than never!! Yes she's really good and so is Tom. I watch the Golden Girls ALL THE TIME!!

Can't believe you got into Sci-Fi with no ADR. It's usually packed with people WITH ADRs.

Funny about the animation academy. I'm not artistic at all! Way more math-minded BUT I'm very good at following directions so I assume that's probably why your husband's was so good too!

Ugh, it's horrible! I'm so glad you agree. That was probably the last time I will ever go on that attractions and I actually wouldn't be surprised if it was gone soon.

Oh the first week back was exhausting!! Thanks for asking! :)

I'm soooo jealous that you are going to the food and wine festival! I love it so much!!

Yes, we will be there for food and wine. We were there last year too, but with the kids didn't get too enjoy it thoroughly.

Jealous!! Yes, it went well, thanks for asking! :)

It's such an easy and relaxing way to do an Epcot morning. Definitely do it next time. Empty World Showcase is the BEST!

I'm finally caught up! I hope your first few weeks of the school year have been going well. I can't believe its September already :scared1: Our trip is in 6 weeks and your report is making me wish the time went by even faster.

I wish I had gotten to ride the Backlot Tour when it was still good. I've never been on and I was looking forward to it this trip. But we just found out its scheduled to be closed for two months during our trip period. I wonder if they are just doing basic maintenance or what.

First few days of school were good, thanks for asking! I can't believe it's September either. The cooler weather always makes me depressed and then when anyone talks about doing anything, my answer is always, "Oh yeah, we'll do it in the Spring!" Like, i can't function in the Winter! I hate it so much!

Yeah, seriously - you aren't missing anything with the backlot tour closed. It's awful. Not sure exactly what they are doing but rumor is that Carsland might be coming to DHS and if that's the case, the backlot tour will be gone so maybe it has something to do with that. :confused3

Day 4 - Sunday August 19 2012

I was up bright and early again this morning and again woke up the troops and went to get everyone coffee.

This was the view from right outside our room.

IMG_1837.jpg

We were on the bus before 9am so we arrived at Animal Kingdom at just about opening.

IMG_1840.jpg

As per tradition, the first thing we did was go to the Royal Anandapur Tea Co. to get a frozen cappuccino . We also usually get a cinnamon bun but all they had was a very glazed and sugary "plain" donut so we got that instead.

While Tom and Bri were finishing up their breakfast, I took everyone's tickets and ran to EE to get FPs for later. First we wanted to go on the Safari!

DSC_0190.jpg

On our last trip, we did the Wild Africa Trek tour and it was so amazing that the regular safari will never be as good anymore!! We liked seeing the rope bridges that we were climbing over and the hut where we had brunch just a few months ago.

DSC_0203.jpg

On our way back to Everest, we ran into a familiar face!

DSC_0209.jpg

She's so strange!

We were all very excited to ride EE. SUCH a good ride. Tom and Bri sat in the very last row and I was in front of them. Thumbs up when the ride was over!

IMG_1844.jpg

Bri said it was her favorite ride of all!

After Everest, we headed to Dinosaur.

IMG_1845.jpg

It had a 10 minute posted wait time but it was actually a walk on. LOVE this ride too! And I really love the preshow. "Flash photography? I wouldn't. It alters the homing signal and that's not good."

DSC_0211.jpg

After Dinosaur, we headed to Flights of Wonder. This is such an amazing show and I love seeing it every time we go to the Animal Kingdom.

Well I knew that there was a part where they pick a couple of people from the audience to get a "picture of a lifetime." I also knew that in order to get that picture, you had to have a good DSLR camera. So I decided as soon as we sat down that I was going to get picked this time.

I waited patiently throughout the beginning of the show and as soon as they announced that they were going to pick volunteers and "hold up your camera" I help my camera up so high with the biggest smile on my face and lo and behold...I got picked!! Yay!!!

Now unfortunately, because I had the camera, we didn't really get any good pics of me up there. Tom's not so good with my iphone camera but he managed to get a few shots.

IMG_1847.jpg

At first they have us take a test shot.

DSC_0215.jpg

Then they call out this gigantic bird!

DSC_0218.jpg

He flies out over the audience and then flies right back up to us. I didn't know how close he would get so I snapped my picture a little prematurely. It came out alright but not as great as I'd like.

DSC_0217.jpg

So I'll just have to get picked again next time! And next time I'll play around with the settings beforehand so I'll be more prepared.

IMG_1851.jpg

As we walked off the stage, someone handed us a certificate saying we received a magical moment. That was pretty cool!

DSC_0225.jpg

After Flights of Wonder, we headed to Primeval Whirl. Tom and I rode it once a few years ago and he's refused to ride it since. I wanted to give it another try so Bri and I headed there. Again, no wait. Maybe 5 minutes but that's really nothing!

IMG_1852.jpg

IMG_1853.jpg

We met Tom in Chester and Hesters for a little shopping. and then headed to It's Tough To Be A Bug. I had to take a pic of the netting they put in place after the branch fell off the Tree of "Life" a few months ago.

DSC_0227.jpg

Walking through the line to the show is cool because you get to see the carvings on the tree pretty close up.

DSC_0228.jpg

There wasn't a wait for this show either, other than waiting for one show to end so we could go in. We don't do this show every trip and we all really enjoyed it this time.

When the show let out, it was just about time for our lunch ADR. We had done ALL that before 1pm!

I wised up and had them take our Donald picture with our camera this time!

DSC_0229.jpg

This was Brianne's first encounter with any characters and she was really excited to meet them, especially Daisy!

DSC_0230.jpg

DSC_0232.jpg

DSC_0233.jpg

I love Mickey!

DSC_0234.jpg

The food was not awesome. Good, but not awesome. We probably won't be eating there again anytime soon.

DSC_0237.jpg

Then Goofy came by...

After lunch Tom and I were in the mood for a beer. Tom's brother had been talking about this beer he got in Disney last year in Morocco in Epcot - it's called Tusker. They no longer serve it in Morocco BUT we have found ways to get it at home and it's always a special occasion when we have Tusker!

So while we were eating lunch IN Tusker House, we saw a few Tuskers go by and we were so excited to get it at the Dawa Bar!

I sent my brother-in-law this picture and he was soooooo jealous!

IMG_1856.jpg

Bri went to do a little shopping for a new bag since her clasp broke so we just sat and relaxed with our Tusker. So nice!

DSC_0243.jpg

DSC_0245.jpg

We did a little quick shopping on the way out and OF COURSE, it starts POURING! So we get on our ponchos and try to wait it out as much as possible before making a run for it.

We went back to CBR for a little rest and shower before heading out for the evening.....

A wonderful morning in AK from the sounds of it!!

I'm sorry your Tusker Lunch wasn't the greatest. I had thought about going for breakfast on our first AK day and lunch on our second but I cancelled the Lunch ADR and am just sticking with the breakfast. I figure by that point in our trip we likely won't want many more big meals!

So what did you think of Primeval whirl this time? Worth doing again or not really?

Oh I forgot to say!! Totally not worth it. So uncomfortable being whipped around. Not really fun for me. Brianne liked it. Maybe I'm getting old ;)

I always drink my beer flights light to dark too, but for different reasons. Dark is my favorite, so I like to save the best for last. :lmao:

I'm in the club that doesn't love the soup from Le Cellier. I love cheese soup, but I'm the same. It's fine, just not my favorite.

Now the filet on the other hand? That's amazing stuff.

Mmmm, Grey Goose Slushie.....

Hysterical. Your anger at the 7mm pearl may have been driven by the amount of libations you had consumed. :rotfl: I can totally picture it now! "Oh, no people in line.....PEARL!!!!"

I love your ToT picture. You look so absolutely happy.

Wow, you are just lucking out with the former Adventurer's Club cast members!

I remember the Backlot Tour from way back in the day. Like, when they used to film Adventures in Wonderland there and the set was there.

Gah! I agree on the Golden Girls house. Wahhhhh!!!!

That's totally an animated John Lasseter.....

I'm going to guess from that picture that to was drinking either Bass Ale or Boddington's......

I've always wanted to do the unofficial drinking around the world. That would be lots of fun.

I could imagine that after the Wild Africa Trek that the normal safari would seem a little meh.

I love Dinosaur! I don't know why other people don't love it more. Dr. Seeker is the best.

How awesome that you were picked for the picture of a lifetime! I think the picture turned out really well.

Right?!

Mmmm, Grey Goose Slushie.....

RIGHT?!?!

Hysterical. Your anger at the 7mm pearl may have been driven by the amount of libations you had consumed. :rotfl: I can totally picture it now! "Oh, no people in line.....PEARL!!!!"

That's pretty much exactly how it went!

I love your ToT picture. You look so absolutely happy.

That ride really makes me so happy!! Glad you picked up on it!

I know! I was so excited!

Yessss!! I'm so glad you know about Adventures in Wonderland! I used to LOVE that show and I remember the house on the backlot. They also filmed some of Thunder in Paradise on that backlot. Who remembers THAT show?!

That's totally an animated John Lasseter.....

Yess! You are SOOOO good!

I'm going to guess from that picture that to was drinking either Bass Ale or Boddington's......

It was definitely Boddington's. :thumbsup2

I've always wanted to do the unofficial drinking around the world. That would be lots of fun.

You've NEVER done it?! Why the heck not?!

I could imagine that after the Wild Africa Trek that the normal safari would seem a little meh.

Dr. Grant Seeker is the total best!!

How awesome that you were picked for the picture of a lifetime! I think the picture turned out really well.

Thanks
!

I LOVE all your comments!

I really like Primeval Whirl, but then again, I"m a big Tea Cups fan... so you put mild roller coaster with tea cups and I'm good! :woohoo: Although it doesn't really spin fast...just kind of rotates around. My son will ride ToT, RnR and EE but will not even consider PW or Teacups!:sad2:

However, last time we rode it, I got a little nauseous. The trip before, we rode it several times in a row because there was no line. I think it has to do with the heat (it was really hot) and I was feeling a bit too parched. I've noticed that if I get dehydrated, I get nauseous and rides that I wouldn't normally. I got nauseous on Run-off Rapids at BB and I totally love that one. After that, I realized that since you can't really carry beverages around with you when you're going from slide to slide, that I hadn't had enough water that day. I have to make sure I'm drinking enough.

hi:wave2: .. totally subbing this report. :thumbsup2
We are practically neighbors. I live in Tinton Falls, NJ
We also have the same time of trip plans... always better with an adult beverage. :lmao:
