I have all of our ADR's for our trip next month but I've been putting off lunch at Animal Kingdom because I just can't decide. We've done the character breakfast at Tusker House and really liked it. My parents (who are coming this time with us again) really like Y & Y.

We have 5 kids (ranging from 11 to 2 yrs) that do great in any restaurant. I read somewhere that Tusker house has reserved seating for Nemo? Is that true? How does that work? Can you book that online?

Both restaurants seem to have tables available when I looked. I just need to decide now.... :confused3

Thanks to everyone!!!

I've tried Tusker House for breakfast, never lunch. We did Yak &Yeti in November and we all really enjoyed it and would go back again. We had the steak and shrimp, beef and broccoli, kobe burger and ribs. I don't even remember what the kids meal was.

We had reservations at Yak and Yeti last April for lunch, was looking forward to it. We actually ended up in Africa and were hungry and tired and didn't feel like walking back to Y&Y, so we popped into Tusker and they had seating for us. We actually really enjoyed the buffet, lots to eat. We were told that the same chefs who have/do worked at Boma, do the food for Tusker House, and since we love Boma, we were very happy.

Also, the buffet area is very big, so easy to get to and we didn't have any big lines like that.

Both are great but we really like Tusker House. In a group there is always something for everyone at a buffet. We find more of an "experience" at tusker house.

We were just there in Oct and we tried teh Yak & Yeti. I'd say go to Tusker House. The Yak & Yeti was way overpriced for what you got, I was not impressed at all. Our food was good, not great. If you do decide to try Y&Y I'd try counter service and save yourself some cash. It is after all, the same food.

Tusker House is more fun, and has better food. They also have a better variety of choices.

Thank you guys! I was kinda feeling like Tusker House was a good idea! :)

Does anyone know how the nemo seating goes? It is only if you make a res during a certain time?

We're not fans of buffets. We love Y&Y though! We do lunch there every trip!

The Tusker House lunch with the preferred Nemo seating worked out great. The buffet is great, plenty for whoever, depending on whatever they like. Then the section in front to the left is the preferred section for that for the Nemo show. When you go on the computer to make the ADR's, you need to put in like a 1:15 reservation or somewhere like that. There's a certain time period from like 1:15 to maybe 2 or 2:30, don't exactly remember. Ours was 1:15. Make sure you give yourself time to eat, then time to walk over there. Then, make sure you tell the person who takes you to your seat or the hostess where you check in. Our waitress didn't leave it with us and didn't know, so had to go talk to hostess/seat giver area.
There's a special area where you go in to the right of where the line forms near the bathrooms at the Nemo show, so you don't even have to wait in line or anything. Just you and the other preferred people.

I loved both restaurants....

Yak and Yeti food was great - service was good... would not hesitate to go back...

Tusker House - I loved the selection of food and the quality was phenomenal for a buffet.

With kids in tow, I would say Tusker is the best bet - they may find it more to their liking and they can try different foods...

The preferred seating deal with the Finding Nemo show for Tusker House is one of the best freebies* in WDW. Eat between 1pm and 1:45pm and you get to walk in to the 3:15pm show that often has a major line, from my experience. We even showed up at 11:30, hungry and wanting to get out of the heat when we had a 1:15pm reservation for lunch at Tusker House. They seated us immediately AND we got the preferred seating passes.

You don't have to do anything special. Just book the ADR in the appointed time period and check with your server to get the preferred seating passes for your party.

* Okay, the lunch isn't free, but you were going to eat anyway, right? And it's hardly a hardship to eat at Tusker House, which also has some of the nicest CMs working at any Disney restaurant. I mean, they insisted we take food with us.

we ate at tusker house during our 2008, and 2009 trips during lunchtime. we ate at yak and yeti during 2010. hands down tusker house was way better!! yak and yeti was one of our worst dining experiences of the trip. do yourself a favor and go to tusker house.
