Does anyone have any experience eating lunch at TH with kids who are very picky eaters? We love TH for breakfast, but have not tried lunch there. I'm not sure they will have enough for my kids to eat? I have a lunch ressie now and am still trying to get a breakfast one. But if I can't get breakfast, has anyone had good luck with lunch for picky kids? Thanks!

I have 3 picky eaters- and we love lunch at TH! We think its even better than breakfast! I love the salads and curry chicken. My DH loves the meat and sides (nothing is overly spiced or adventurous) and by DS (6 &3) love this kids buffet w/ the mac n cheese, corn dogs, chicken legs, deli meat and cheese, and other hot items. The desert options are great too. There really is something for everyone- I wouldn't be too stressed about it. I felt the same way as you- and now we don't even go back for breakfast, not that breakfast is bad- just that everyone was happier with lunch, and I think they had more options. Enjoy!

If all else fails there's mac&cheese.

There's also pearl couscous (at least when I've gone); they are bigger than the couscous I'm used to, and have a nice light flavor. They might be interesting enough to the kids to have (and I quote a Trader Joe's taste-test employee here) "an adventure bite". (that TJ employee changed my son's relationship with trying new things! she was awesome!)

They have a really good variety of food for lunch. There were some unique foods, but also some of the usual stuff. I think you'll be fine. We had one of the first lunch reservations of the day and they still had some breakfast foods out.

I personally like the breakfast here way better than the lunch. Lunch was good, but the breakfast appealed to me way more. There is food available for picky eaters, like mac and cheese, roast chicken, corn dog nuggets etc. If you really want breakfast, i'd keep trying online. Im always able to get the hard-to-get ADRs just by being persistent. I check several times a day online. TIP: People often cancel the day before to avoid the $10 pp fee. So keep checking even up until the day before. Good luck!!

That's exactly all my picky eater ended up eating. But I must say, I'm not a picky eater at all and consider myself adventurous, but Tusker House was probably my least favorite meal this past trip. I honestly thought Crystal Palace was better. It was a great experience, though--the character costumes are adorable!

we have some picky kids too and have a 10:30AM ADR, hoping to be able to partake of breakfast and lunch (11AM).

Same here! im not at all picky....i'll eat anything. The items I had at lunch were good, don't get me wrong... but speaking overall, I honestly didn't think the selection was that great. I expected more. I too preferred Crystal Palace. Lol.

On our last trip my family got the best of both worlds. It was our first time at TH, and we couldn't have been more thrilled! Our reservations were for "breakfast" at 10:45. The amazing part was, they started putting out lunch options alongside the breakfast options shortly after 11! We got both their breakfast and lunch options, I would now highly recommend both

My kids won't even eat real mac n cheese! Lol So that's why I'm tentative about eating lunch there. We had a similar situation last time we were there with having a late breakfast ressie so they started bringing lunch out too. I plan on continuing to try to get breakfast. I'm thinking something may come up as we get closer!

We love Crystal Palace too but the jungle juice is bringing us back to Tusker! Just awesome! Does anyone know if you can get that juice anywhere else in AK?

I think it also comes down to the type of pickiness.

Is it "everything must be plain and no two items can touch on the plate?" Might be an issue. Otherwise, there are corn dogs, a carved meat and mac and cheese.
yes picky is subjective. my son is picky (less so now than 2 years ago when we went) and he was in heaven with carved meat (no lines from the grill, no heavy seasonings), mac and cheese and corn dog nuggets and dessert. He still likes that stuff a lot but will venture out a bit more now. if they only eat certain foods you need to check to see if they have them. my kiddo is always good with some kind of carved meat and some kind of pasta side dish at a bare minimum. Add a roll and butter and dessert and it's probably better than he eats at other places where if he orders mac and cheese that's all he's going to get (no protein).

This is one of our favorite spots lunch is quite tasty. With our 2 picky eaters I would just not tell them curried chicken or hummus or whatever no just here but at home or where we were dinning out at.. I would say would you like some chicken, ham, pork, pasta salad, dip, mac and cheese, broccoli so that it didn't sound so foreign to them. We did a lot better this way, also we did the one bite "adventure" letting them choose the bite, with no pressure... If they liked it fine... if not fine. We found by not playing into the pickiness, not making a big deal out of it. It made for a better dinning experience for everyone.

TH is definitely our family favorite for variety. Everything from mac and cheese or chicken fingers to some mildly exotic food. Everyone should be able to find something there. Though this is coming from someone whose toddler got overwhelmed at Golden Corral and ate NOTHING!!!! But she ate quite a bit at TH.

1) Many eateries, including Tusker do have menu items that satisfy "picky eaters".
2) But, the selections may be severely limited.
3) Remember,
. . . picky eaters are mainly by choice, not by medical condition(s)
. . . the chefs try to accommodate allergies and medical conditions, not "choice" food preferences
. . . non-medical-condition picky eaters are not a protected class

Wow! Don't hate the kids who are picky eaters!!!! I was just asking a question to try to have the best experience for my family.
