We tried the new Tusker House Buffet on Saturday night and loved it! I was afraid that it would be a repeat of Boma, but it was really very different. The food had more of an Indian touch than African. There were some similar dishes, so I might space them out a bit more (we had eaten at Boma the night before).

If your whole family is a "meat and potatoes" type than this might not appeal, but for the more adventurous diner (and not too adventurous...the one or two picky eaters in your family could find plenty to choose from) this is a great choice.

We loved the chicken curry, the hummus, the cous cous, the babaganoush, the sliced prime rib, sliced pork loin, and the samosas, etc. The place wasn't very full (6:30pm ressies) and the park was really emptying out by the time we left. However, it was a really good meal.....can't wait to try it again!

which one would you like more Boma or Tusker? I went to Boma on my last trip, and now it is Tusker this trip, though I have to say I am sad to see the counter service go away. I really did like going there and getting a healthy counter service. The lady who took our ressies said it was pretty good so we thought why not, but then when reading on some other places they were not fond of it. maybe too out there for some.

Of the two...it is a close competition for quality and selection of the food. Both were very good. However, I would have to say that I like the ambience of Boma better. Not that it is very fancy, but I like going to AKL and the Tusker House environment includes a lot of cold cement, etc. Also, since we were there near park closing, it wasn't very crowded...so not as warm an environment. Still...the food was great. If you liked Boma, I think you'll like this...and it is a bit of a change....nice to try something new.

Thanks so much, did you happen to have a CS in AK? Looks like it might be flame tree. I have a soy allergy which really limits my family when it comes to the CS meals.

We ate at Yak and Yeti (the counter service) and it was quite filling and good. I had the pepper steak and a side order of egg rolls and really enjoyed it. It is all Asian food though, so if your party isn't all on board (as mine wasn't) it won't work for you. In my case, my dad turned up his nose at Asian food and they moved on to Tamu Tamu (just a sandwich stand) which didn't look to be very good. The burgers were almost gray and my kids didn't really eat much of their turkey sandwiches. There weren't a lot of options. I carried my tray from Yak and Yeti through the park to the Tamu Tamu stand...and my family was quite envious of my much better lunch!

We didn't do Flame Tree because we had eaten so many ribs/chicken at Whispering Canyon the night before. No one wanted any more ribs! But...usually I would have headed to Flame Tree.

Thanks for the review! We LOVE Boma, but made an ADR for Tusker House on our next trip because we like trying new places. It sounds like there is a nice variety of food and that it is good. :goodvibes

We too were sad to see CS gone for Tuskers. One of our favorite in all the parks. We'll probably try the buffet in September though thanks to your review. :goodvibes Sounds good to me!
