Turtle Pond Section - Old Key West

We will taking our third OKW trip this coming April. In the past we have stayed at the HH and Millers Road Sections. Loved them both. We would like to possibly stay in the Turtle Pond area but have recently seen some negative posts about this area and was wondering why some do not like this area. Looking for any thoughts, positive or negative. We are a family of 6 DS 13, DD 10 and DD and DS both 7 if that is any consideration.

Some buildings seem to have more bus noise han others, and it is surprising which ones are relatively quiet. We were in bldg 32 last week, right behind the bus stop, and heard very little bus noise. Building 44, though, near the pool was one of the worst I've ever experienced for bus noise.

Turtle Pond and South Point are our favorite areas at OKW. Though I'd try to avoid the South Point buildings where the busses turn around.

My family always stays in the Turtle Pond area. We love it!

We stayed near the millers road bus stop at thanksgiving and it was awesome no bus noise at all, and they picked up right outside our building .

There are probably pros and cons to any of the areas at OKW, depending on specifically which building the poster was in and what they're looking for. We've had both our least favorite and one of our favorite rooms, both in the Turtle Pond area, but in different buidings. One had a lot of road noise from the busy main road and it had virtually no view. The other had a very nice, peaceful view, and was steps from the pool.

We've stayed in Turtle Pond villas 4 times, and none of them have been great from the standpoint of view, distance to the bus, and noise. We were there last week in building 36 (3621 to be exact), and the view from our 1 bedroom was of the end of the next building. We kept our blinds closed all the time.

We also don't care for that pool area. I know lots of people like it, but we have found it to be MUCH noisier than the other two neighborhood pools. Our preference is either Miller's or South Point.

I stayed in Turtle Pond last month in building 43. Nice view, nice pool area,
everything is really nice. However, with 4 children over the age of 7, I would
stay closer to the HH area (if you are planning to stay at the resort for some
relaxing time) there are more interesting things to do for the family at that location. Plus its an easy walk to the boat dock to go to DTD.

I am one of those who do not care for turtle pond, even though OKW is my favorite resort. It can be a longer walk from some of the buildings to the bus stop which makes it seem remote. There also seem to be more reports of trafic noise from those who stay in that area.

Just came back from a stay in #3836, which may be one of the worst located rooms in OKW. Our balcony had a lovely view of Overpass Road, and I noticed much traffic noise from the adjacent busy roads. Oh well, it was too cold most of the week to spend time on the balcony anyway.

We love Turtle Pond and the only issues we have are the bus noise. It can be annoying but not terrible.

I have stayed in the Turtle Pond area many times. It is secluded but has a nice pool and BBQ area. The buses can sometimes be challenging at times because of the location but if you have a car and like a quiet area its nice.
