Turning regular clothes into DCL clothes

When we go on our Disney cruises, we have this "thing" about wearing Disney clothes all the time. (Except dressy, but we still wear Mickey jewelry then).

If it's too expensive to buy the DCL wear, I buy things that are on sale - like baby or kids socks - and they have the little Mickey sailor head that just pulls off, or you can cut the threads. Then I just sew them or iron them on to the regular shirts on shorts we like and make them in to DCL Mickey Wear!! Anything that is on sale, that I can remove the logo, I buy and turn it in to our own DCL merchandise after the cruise. Then we're all ready to go on the next cruise. We also do this at WDW.

I also buy the little Disney charms and turn them in to earrings. We've turned all our regular black luggage in to Mickey luggage with iron on Disney patches and straps.

Anybody else have a "thing" about wearing Disney on a Disney ship? Or have any other ideas to turn regular stuff in to Disney stuff?

I love Mickey jewelry....I have tons of it....mostly I collect the Swarovski crystal disney pins/brooches...I have the ship, Mickey, Minnie, the castle at WDW, Pluto, Captain Mickey, Dopey, Lumierem icon Mickey head....I just love them and wear one every night to dinner. I also have assorted lapel pins in Mickey design and all sorts of Disney earrings....I have rhinestone pin in the shape of MM ears cap.

I have a ton of Disney clothing as well....I like your idea of taking the logo off other things!!!

This is a link to my next purchase!!!

Here is a picture of my dd below in a pair of denim shortalls that I embellished with some disney flair. She got so many comments. One of the mothers told me I should have set up a booth and sold them..

I have a Mickey ankle bracelet that I wear ALL of the time. It keeps me close to the pixie dust.

MJ, I love that Mickey brooch. Good taste!!!

As to the comment about setting up a booth and selling things--you can use character, DCL, etc. motifs in things that you create for your own personal use. This is probably a violation of copyright laws, but Disney (and most other companies) don't enforce it when it is for your own use. However, if you sell any of it, I can almost promise you that Disney will come after you for copyright violation.

Many of us use various methods of making DIS stuff for our trips, cruises, and just for fun at home. No flames intended....Just don't get into the selling thing or you will be sorry.

Believe me I have no intention on selling. No spare time left in the day..coupled with the fact that it is not worth it. :earseek:

I like to see everyones creativity when it somes to turning things into something spectacular. I especially liked the dcl picture of the day of the women her turned her kitchen island into a dc ship. Now that was cool..

I buy a plain white shirt,($5) then use my Disney card program to make iron on transfers to put on them. I have one shirt that has all Donald Duck, one that's all Mickey and Minnie, and one with Goofy on it. I put one large picture on the back and several small ones down the front. I have gotton lots of compliments on them, especially from crew members and WDW cast members. As long as I only use them for myself, it is legal to do. There was another thread a few weeks back about the copyright issues too. It was very informative.
Hope you have fun with your projects, I do!
