Turning Florida Water into High Quality H2O?

I have always hated Florida drinking water. Ever since my first trip there as a kid, I've dreaded every sip I have had to take. To me, it is on the same level as Swill. But I'm wondering, am I alone? And if not, what can be done to make it a little more tolerable? So I've got a two part question for y'all.

#1 - What do you think of the drinking water in Florida? It tastes really odd to me, almost like I'm drinking water straight from the ocean. So whenever I'm down there, I either drink bottled water or soda from a bottle or can. If/when I get a soda from a restaurant, I have to ask for no ice so that the melting ice doesn't contaminate my drink.

#2 - And that brings me to my 2nd question. On my most recent trip to WDW, I packed a box of those Kool-Aid pouches (like what you would pack in your kid's lunch box) and carried it on the airplane with me. But with the stricter regulations, that is a definite no-no. And I'm leery about checking that sort of thing for fear that the un-pressurized cargo cabin will cause the pouches to explode. In the most recent edition of the All Ears newsletter, someone mentioned bringing those little packets of iced tea or lemonade or Kool-Aid that you mix with water. If you hate the water in Florida, have you tried this? And if so, does it help at all? And if it doesn’t help, any other ideas of how to combat the Florida drinking water problem?

Thank you in advance for the responses.

We use the single serving powder mixes. Crystal Light and Kool Aid both have them. You can buy a box of sixteen for about $2.50 at Walmart. They really help out the funny tasting water.

Yep, I do not like drinking water at WDW. I usually drink bottled water or bottled soda. The fountain drinks at the restaurants use is mixed with water so it has the funny taste, but is a bit more tolerable.

I am ordering water from Staples for our trip. I drink alot of water and don't want to have to buy it each time. I also have packed the lemonade mix packets so that my boys will have a "flavor" to drink.

My family does not like the water either. Actually a couple of years ago my family got really sick and my youngest ended up in the ER. The doctor told us many people get sick from there bodies not being used to the water down there, and that even drinking drinks with the ice can make some people sick.

I was thinking of using the water bottles with the filters in them. Has anyone tried these?

We use Brita Fill & Go filtered sports bottles that we got off ebay. Florida is a swamp and the water has to come from some where. :rotfl2:

I don't know too many people including us locals who like the water here. It does come from swamps. I always use either bottled water or filtered water. Animals also have problems with the water. It affects their gall bladers and kidneys. Makes me wonder what it does to us. Maybe we actually glow green inside :lmao:
