Turn Around and See What Happens -- It's Whoopi Time and that's a wrap 3/31; F&G add

Thanks for popping in with prayers everyone. I have one project at work to finish and then will get to responses and caught up elsewhere.

They took Mark in right at 11:30...his scheduled time. He sent this to me as they were prepping him:

Surgery could go up to 3-1/2 hours. I'll post an update when I get one from Alisha.

Leave it up to one of your kiddos to carry on the tradition of puttin' on the crazy hats. :rotfl: Seriously, I know that you are worried about the surgery and anxious to hear how things went. Keep us updated when you can.

Kathy  Hope you hear so good news soon:flower3:

Mark, is out of surgery. He had two stitches put in his labrum; he had a 20% tear in his rotator cuff which was probably rubbing on his bicep tendon and giving him the most pain. They smoothed out the rotator cuff. 6 weeks in a sling so no driving. 3 - 6 months rehab. He goes back in two weeks to see the doctor.

I feel for my daughter-in-law, Alisha, as she is the one who will have to deal with him. :scared1:

 Glad the surgery is done, and hope Mark isn't too uncomfortable during his recovery :flower3: Here's a  for Alisha..because you are right:goodvibes

Glad the surgery went well and its over.

:grouphug: on Mark's recovery.

Jill in CO

Keeping my fingers crossed for Mark so hopefully everything goes smoothly. Please, keep us posted.

Okay, that's what I get for opening several threads, then read and then post. :lmao: I miss the most important post! ;)

Glad to hear that the surgery went well! Now, keeping my fingers crossed the recovery goes well.

Good to hear. That was the same sentence I got. I probably made it 4 weeks until I had to get to the supermarket for a quick item. Still in rehab and probably will be for a while. The sling became uncomfortable at about 2 weeks and my elbow hurt. I was okayed to come out of it while it was supported. Showering was interesting for a while with one working arm.

Hopefully THAT pain is gone now and he just needs to heal.

So Glad the surgery went well !!! Poor Alsiha having to drive and deal with a "poor baby" Loved the Hat pix just sooooo KatMark!!!!

Kathy that pix after SE where they show the pix , it looks JUST like me !!!???? Could we have been on the same ride ????? Yes I am waiting to hear the story behind the Title !!!

I think we would have seen you when we got off. Maybe you have a twin you didn't know about. ;)

All caught up! Plans for March look fun. Quick but fun. Ah Epcot, wish I could remember what we did there LOL. And I am also curious for the TR title!!

There's my travel buddy. I think I wil llet you write the next TR. What say you? Oh I'm sure you know exactly what that trip title hints at. :rotfl2:

Oh my, I HAVE to tell my DH that there are Garth dates out, he's been watching for them! He's a huge fan and has never seen a concert, so when GB came out of retirement I promised DH we would get him to a concert! (Although I can't see Ireland in the cards for us this year... :lmao: )

Oh...I hope he'll be in a town near you. We saw him once as a family and ever since, Andy was hooked! I love the idea that they are going to Ireland.

Glad you were able to get right on SE. I really love that ride!
I meant to check out the new Starbucks but I forgot. I am not a coffee/tea drinker, but I just wanted to look. That holiday menu makes me want to like coffee.

I do too; it brings lots of memories. I wouldn't survive without my coffee.

Oh Soarin'! I could go for a ride on Soarin' right now! :goodvibes

I could too; much better than anticipating the 6 more inches of snow we are getting tomorrow/Wednesday.

:wizard:Prayers for Mark. It is hard not to do the things that make us who we are, he is be glad it is done after the healing. He has his whole life ahead of him to enjoy. At least that is what I tell myself went in for my hip.

Thanks; he's not been off a wrestling mat since 4th grade. This will be all new for him. But today's surgery went well so hopefully he'll be back in less than six months.

Glad you were able to get on MS. I don’t know why we skipped it last trip.
Thank you for showing the menu for Starbucks. I missed all the winter drinks this year. The Cherries Jubilee looks like something I would have tried.
I love how Disney throws a little holiday touch here and there.

The Christmas drinks looked really good; I stuck with my usual, but Mark was very tempted (and he hates Starbucks).

Don’t blame you for double-dipping. I’m going to have a hard time next trip as my hubby, Chris, informed me he isn't to crazy for us go on it again.

Really? I can't imagine not wanting to go on Soarin'.

I think I did read this on FB but again I wanted to offer my thoughts prayers and support for Mark.

I took 7 weeks off ( one week I was in Disney...) and even though my job is not physical in nature, it was even hard typing and doing paperwork. I am now 10 weeks out and starting to get much more range of motion back.

He will bounce back quicker than me because well, he is a good bit younger and didn't let hs shoulder go for like 30 years.

He will not WANT to wrestle for about that long. I am finding it pretty easy to follow the protocol of limitations. Sure I push it a bit but only if there is no pain, and so far other than the first 24 hours ( which S*CKED EGGS) I have been pain free. Only the weather has made me hurt.

Keep us updated and hopefully he can rehab at school if they have a PT dept.

Thank you, Pat. I don't know if you saw my post. But 3-6 months rehab (although we aren't telling him that just yet). The doctor wants to see him in 2 weeks and said he could possibly go back to work after that if he typed with his left hand which he has been practicing doing. We'll see how the follow up visit goes.

Thank you for all the advice and I've passed it on to Mark (Alisha is staying home with him tomorrow to be sure he takes his pain meds).

I'm glad you made it onto SE...I too would have been so upset if I wasn't able to ride in on the anniversary in honor of your dad. I'm sure he was along for the ride!

Thank you; I'm sure he was with me too. :)

I loved how Living with the Land was decorated. We went in early November so only got to see MK decorated, that's the closest we've been to Christmas, but we're going to have to do a trip later in December at some point to see all the parks done up.

It was fun catching all of the cute things they did in the Land. Oh, I hope you do get to go later in December...so much to see and enjoy.

That is so cool about Andy going to Ireland to see Garth Brooks; it's such an amazingly beautiful country they'll have a great time!

He's having fun doing research on it, and I work with a lawyer whose family is from there so he is giving him lots of advice too.

It was a very good waffle and I could go for one right now. Let's leave work and get on a plane and have one tomorrow morning before all of our snow comes back. What do you think?

I think I am all for it!!! I could be packed and ready to go before the next big snowfall tomorrow night! ;)

Did you hear? 3-6 inches more tomorrow into Wednesday? I don't know where they are going to put it.

Glad you got to ride your SE this time around. And I won't do any hollering at you for Double Dipping. We did that as well with our MBs on the girls' trip. :rolleyes1 Only for Soarin' and Toy Story though, I think. Everything else we hit at rope drop on stand by and then our FP+ later in the day to get more than 1 ride in if it was something we wanted to ride more than once. But I think as people figure this out, Disney may find themselves putting themselves out of money. Why park hop if you arrange your FP+ for later but still want to get there at rope drop to have a second chance to ride?

I totally agree with you. They need to allow you to get 3 at each park if you are hopping, or they are going to lose a LOT of money.

I missed the Starbucks at Epcot. Or was it not open there yet in August?

You didn't miss it....it didn't open until after we were there so I'm thinking it was like October????

Living with the Land was decorated nice for the holidays. You got some fun photos in there.

Yes it was.

Well, need to head out. Going to try a Zumba class tonight. :scared:

Hope you ahd fun at your Zumba class.

So glad that Mark's surgery went well! I do feel for Alisha though. Jim has had several knee surgerys so I know how big of a baby men can be!

Kathy, I'm behind one update (I think:)), will go back later tonight to catch up but since this caught my eye, wanted you to know that I'll keep Mark in my thoughts and prayers that both the surgery and recovery goes well.

Thanks, Janet.

And I did see that Andy and Des are heading to Ireland this summer for a Garth Brooks concert - how exciting for them! What a fantastic time awaits them.

I am very excited for them. His birthday is in 18 days and I found Guiness boxers as well as a Guiness Dublin t-shirt.

SO glad you got to ride Spaceship earth. I know how upset you were last time!

Yes, I was; and I felt much better after riding it this time.

i have the EXACT picture of the entrance of Epcot with the World decoration!!!

Believe it or not, I don't think I've ever noticed that world decoration before.

Welcome to the HEAT WAVE today and today ONLY..

Can you believe more snow on the way tomorrow/Wednesday? Where the heck are they going to put it? :furious:

I know, you would of thought we could of had time to visit the other resorts....guess we were having to much fun in the parks!

That happens.

so happy you were able to ride on SE this time around :goodvibes

Me too. :)

yay for an extra flight on Soarin' .....ssshhh we pulled a couple extra FP along the way too

I think that was the only ride we did it for. :confused3

Good luck to Mark with his surgery on Monday

Thank you; it went well.

cool Andy and Des are going to Ireland and see Garth Brooks :dance3: Jim and I saw him back in 1998 and he was AWESOME!

We've all seen him, and Andy loves him...I'm so glad they can go.

hope you are staying warm and that the cold, yucky weather is gone soon!

No chance of that; more snow on the way.

How did I NOT reply on the kids going to IRELAND!!!! OH MY GOODNESS!!!!

THAT IS AMAZING!! SO SO SO JEALOUS!!! Yet really happy they can go!!!

They are going to have a WONDERFUL time!!! Good for them!

I'm really excited for them too. I think it's a wonderful experience. And since they don't have any major expenses around home, why the heck not while they are young!

When the boss is away... :rolleyes1

Sssh.....

Ok... Love Garth Brooks, and I'd love to visit Ireland sometime. So very jealous of them. Sounds like it will be an amazing trip.

They asked us to go with them. Unfortunately, Mark has a huge baseball tournament that weekend and I have very few vacation days I left. I think they'll have a blast and don't need us hanging around.

I'm glad you got to ride Spaceship Earth and make up for the last time, but I'm still surprised that you were able to stop long enough to ride it before you got here.

Thanks; I was glad too. It's just the way the plans worked out.

Legacy FastPass... RIP. :sad1:

Truly very sad. :(

Uh oh. We agree on something. Scary.

Oh dear...maybe that's why they got their you know what kicked? :rotfl::rotfl:

My nephew rode his bike all the way across Ireland and the pictures of the scenery were gorgeous so I am sure that the kids will love their trip.

I am sure they will too.

I certainly understand why your first attraction of the day would be Spaceship Earth. I am sure that your daddy was watching and smiling.:thumbsup2

Thanks, Lisa.

Whew! When I read the title of this last update I was immediately worried that you did not get on Spaceship Earth again. So glad you finally got to ride it! And who doesn't love a ride on LWTL and Soarin'!

Sorry to worry you, Ariana.

So was it wonderful to be able to get Starbucks right in Epcot?

Oh yes it was. :)

I love Spaceship Earth. I ride it several times a trip. The Living With the Land is another favorite. I may try and figure out something with the hydroponics for next years Science Fair for my granddaughter. Soarin' just not a fan. I can ride roller coasters and Star Tours no issues but put me on Soarin' and I turn a not so lovely shade of green.

I'm with you...I can ride SE several times a trip. That's strange about Soarin' bothering you, yet the others don't? :confused3

I didn't even go near Starbucks but I have to admit some real caffeine could be useful on my next trip. Caffeine means a happy me.

Same here; don't even bother me until I've had my FIRST cup of caffeine.

Hope your son's surgery goes well on Monday, although I am sure it will. My last knee surgery there was a young man in the bed next to me getting shoulder surgery. I felt so bad for him. He was invited to the Orioles training camp as a pitcher. Goofing around with some friends he tore up his shoulder and his invite was withdrawn. I wish I had gotten his name I would love to see if he ever made it the following year. Not trying to be a downer but knowing what a baseball fan Mark is I thought of that. I had a lovely conversation with him at the meet on the subject of baseball.

Thanks; everything went well. That's too bad about that young man. :( Actually, Andy is the baseball guy, Mark wrestling (although Mark loves his Cubs).

Great update. :goodvibes

Thank you. :)

will try to video, since I'm working back stage all day, hope to at least watch her ballet and lyrical....watch for FB update!

I saw a couple of the videos on FB. :thumbsup2

Kathy, thanks for the latest update! Just what I needed, pics of all your (and my) favourite rides at Epcot.

I'm glad I could oblige. :)

Love the pics of you and Mark in your future. :thumbsup2

Aren't we cute? :rotfl2:

I am keeping Mark jr. in my thoughts for his surgery on Monday. pixiedust: for a speedy recovery.

Thank you; it went well.

How amazing that your kids get to go to Ireland!!! That will be incredible...Garth Brooks fan indeed! :thumbsup2

Yes it will...I'm very happy for them.

You know what? While reading this update I realized that at some point while we were at Epcot we went on Spaceship Earth too and I totally forgot to put it in my TR! :confused3 That is what I get for NOT being a notetaker. :faint: So glad you got to go on it this time. :goodvibes

I don't take notes; if it weren't for pictures, I'd be in BIG trouble.

Ah, LWTL... I DID remember to include that one in my TR...go figure! :lmao:

You crack me up.

Ugh...I was just coming over to wish Mark luck with his surgery and I see your latest update! :grouphug: to Mark. That stinks that no one told him they were out of network but thank goodness he found out ahead of time! Insurance is crazy. Tell him not to make any decisions now while his emotions are so high. He has a good head on his shoulders so I'm sure he already realizes that.

Jill in CO

The shoulder still needs to get done. Hopefully he calms down ad finds a good doctor - in network - to take care of it.

Yes it is a long road and everyone I talked to says it is one of the worst surgeries even though I am doing well, if this is the worst then all other should be a breeze- NOT.

But in the grand scheme it is just a speed bump. The pain and suffering now will get worse as he gets older. :rolleyes1 Trust me.

Yikes! :crazy2: I'm glad that he at least caught that before he had the surgery.

I can completely understand how he would be a little depressed right now, but it will be alright. I'm sure he'll find someplace to get it done in network and everything will be fine. He's young enough still to heal! :thumbsup2

Sorry to hear about Mark not getting surgery. I remember the first time I was told the Dr wont see you cause he doesn't take your insurance. I was so happy that someone had finally understood what was wrong with me to then have them say sorry we can't help. After that my mom did nothing. Took me almost 10 years to find a Dr that would take care of me. Please don't let him go that long. I can't say if they could have done anything sooner to have helped me. I never asked. I figure somethings are better not known. God Bless and sending prayers that Mark finds a new Dr soon. Sorry for a downer story. Good news I was able to give birth to my three kids before anything was done. I'm sure if it had been treated earlier I would not have had a regular delivery. (My Dr is still amazed that I did.) Remember all in its time.:grouphug:

Thanks everyone. As you know, he ended up having it (his mother-in-law called the insurance company and got it all straightened out!).

I don’t remember what we had at Jiko. Maybe one day.

I'm sure we will go back some time, but it will be a long time...still too many other places to try.

Glad you had a good breakfast. I have never eaten there for any meal.

We really enjoyed breakfast; dinner not so much.

It was very nicely decorated.

Yes it was!

March plans look good.

Thanks; now if it would just get here. I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO over winter.

That is exciting for them to go to Ireland and what a reason. I LOVE GARTH. I am so jealous.

I love Garth too, but not enough to go to Ireland. They will have a blast!

So happy you got to ride SE and you got nice pics in there.

Thank you, Scott.

I love Soarin’. Great pics there too.
All caught up again.

:yay::yay::yay:

Poor Mark !! I just hate hoe insurance dictates what we can do !!!I think all doctors should accept ALL insurances if they want to practice in the USA !! Hospitals too !!!

I am sure he is disappointed that he had to cancel the surgery. I am sure he can find a doctor in his network. He should start by talking to his primary care doctor. And I am sure he should not give up coaching as he loves it so much. I am sure you are talking him down from the emotional state so :grouphug: to you.

Thanks; as I posted earlier, it got taken care of and the surgery went off this morning. The coaching is still up for debate (it all depends on if anything else goes wrong with the house...just had to get a new furnace at $3000; he said nothing is as important as Alisha and paying his bills and he might just have to search for a better job that would not allow him to coach :sad2:)

I didn't know SSE was your dad's favorite ride. What a great way to start the day! :thumbsup2

Yes; after just one visit with us, it was his favorite and he often talked about it.

I love seeing LWTL with all the holiday touches. It's so festive!

I love how they decorated little things in there.

Great start to your morning!

It started out well. Would it continue?

Ahh so glad you went to my Lodge for breakfast, even if you don't like it! :rotfl2: Breakfast looked good, I kind of want to try WCC for breakfast someday but there are just so many other places I'd like to try first!

It really is a pretty resort, just not for me. Breakfast was yummy. We've hit a lot of the breakfast places now and only have a few that we still want to try.

Glad you finally got your ride on Spaceship Earth, I know you were sad about not being able to ride it on your last trip! And Soarin', yay! Doesn't get much better than that! :thumbsup2

Thanks, Jen. Nope, doesn't get much better than Soarin'.

Ah that stinks about Mark's surgery debacle. That's crazy they didn't tell him sooner but at least he didn't get hit with a huge bill AFTER surgery. Sorry that he has to take 2 steps back before getting on with the surgery.

Thankfully, his MIL got involved and got it resolved. They are on their way back home after the surgery.

And on the other end of the excitement scale for your kids... that's awesome that Andy and Des are going to Ireland for Garth!

Isn't it? I am so very excited for them.

Yay for SE!! I remember when they took it down in August when we saw you. I'm glad that you were finally able to have your sentimental spaceship journey! :)

Yes, I did see you and Em right after that and I was really in a funk.

We didn't go through Living with the Land in December so I had no idea here were Christmas decorations. I wish I hadn't missed that. Very nice.

It was really cute.

Ok, the rest of the responses when I get home tonight. In the meantime, here's a photo just before they took Mark to surgery

And in the car on the way home

He says they got done early so he should go to wrestling practice. Yeah, that's not happening said Nurse Alisha. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Glad the surgery went well and Nurse Alisha is keeping him in. I know from knee surgeries you feel OK when you first get released and then all the meds wear off. Not fun. He needs to take it easy and heal.

Great to hear Mark's surgery went well! Sending my sympathies to Alisha! I know how difficult some patients can be when they have a lengthy recovery in front of them and they have no patience! :sad2::rolleyes:

I am using my own convalescent time after my second ankle surgery to catch up on everyone's TR's. I am glad Mark's surgery went well and I hope he isn't in much pain. Looking forward to finding out why you named the trip report that.

Susan
