Turkey Legs - Yummy treat or nasty abomination?

Turkey legs - yummy treat or nasty abomination?

  • Turkey legs - ooooh, turkey legs (Homer voice). Yummy!

  • Turkey legs - eewwwwww. Nastiest stuff this side of a Fear Factor food-eating contest

  • I have no sense of taste and/or smell, so I have no opinion either way

They say: If you can get past the smell you got it licked. Well I can't get past the smell.

I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE turkey legs! I have a lot of stomach issues and turkey is one of my few "safe" foods, so a big ol' leg is a dream to me! I just think all the looks I get when eating one are hilarious! I had one in line for HM and it seemed people just could not stop staring. Ah now my mouth is watering...only 54 more days!!

Our first trip to WDW in 1996, I couldn't wait to try one of the turkey legs after hearing our friends rave how good they were. The first few bites were tasty but after that, our son commented he might as well take a bite out of his arm as the tendons were so disgusting. We have been every year since and have not purchased another; I just don't think I could handle those tendons!!!

Ever since I was a child, I found the smell of turkey legs at WDW to be intoxicating. My mouth waters just thinking about the smell right now.

However, I finally tried one last year, and it was horrible! Don't get me wrong, I love turkey, especially roasted and deep-fried. I gotta say, that the WDW turkey leg It was more like ham than turkey. It was tough, a little dry on the outside, and fibrous (I think someone here described it as having a bunch of tendons). With every bite there was something in my mouth that was inedible. I found myself trying to eat around some disgusting tendon-y fibrous stuff, but it was hopeless. I had to throw the thing away and will never buy one again. I still love the smell, though!

I love them and got my 12 year old daughter hooked this past trip. We have a running joke that when someone asks her what she liked best about WDW she says the turkey legs!!!

I think they are disgusting! I don't like any meat ona bone to tell you the truth, but when it has tendons, ligaments, veins and such included, it is even worse.

I can give or take them. But my wife is addicted to them so I voted "mmmm turkey legs"

I love them! i can never eat a whole one though..I pick off of Tim's.

I remember them being a lot like a Cinnabon. They always smelled much better than they tasted or made you feel afterwards.

DH apparently liked the leg. He licked that bone clean! Here he is at MNSSHP in his pirate costume.pirate:

Agreed. They do smell good though :rotfl:

It totally bothers me that they sell thousands of turkey legs per day... what happened to the rest of the turkey? <<{{shudder}}>>

I don't understand the Turkey Leg phenomenon. "Oh man, it's so hot out, I could really go for a giant, messy piece of meat right now.
