A member of my party is curious about the bus to and from Tulum. For those out there who have taken the Tulum tour and who suffer from motion sickness, did you have any trouble with the bus ride? After searching back through the posts, I saw that a few people mentioned problems with the ferry to and from Playa Del Carmen, so that's a consideration too. But how about that bus ride? Are the roads very rough and/or crooked? Thanks in advance for any information.

If they survive the boat/ferry ride, the bus will be a piece of cake!

Seriously, my sil went on this tour and so did my DH and I. When we went the seas sure did not seem rough on the ship, but I have never been so scared on a boat before! And I grew up near the pacific and went sailing on the ocean several times. I tell you, we were 2 of maybe 10 people who were not quite ill. Howver, when SIL did the tour a few years before we did, they did not have any problem with the seas. Still, I would not recommend this tour to someone who had problems with motion sickness!

Thanks for the reply. Out of curiosity, how large is the boat over to the mainland? I was in Cozumel for a diving trip last summer, and the Playa Del Carmen ferry was a large boat that carried hundreds of people. Does Disney use some sort of smaller private ferry for its Tulum shore excursion?

It was a large ferry which was airconditioned inside. Very comfortable. It even had a TV in the wall at the front. It was a quick smooth ride, but then again, when we went, the water was like glass our whole trip.
