I am somewhat of a Disney regular but always stay onsite and use Disney transportation so after all the years I have been going, I have never even seen the TTC. We will be driving in for the day to meet friends for Moonlight Magic at Typhoon Lagoon in a few weeks and they are staying at the Polynesian. I know that we will be able to park at Typhoon Lagoon but was hoping to arrive early and surprise my friend with a gift for her birthday. Is it possible to park near the Polynesian walkway arriving in the afternoon? I have no idea how Disney fills spots-do you get to drive and pick your own or is controlled parking to keep things moving? If there is a chance we will end up clear on the other side of the lot, Ill just park at Typhoon Lagoon to be safe but would love to surprise her if TTC parking will be easy. I do have an AP so it will be free, I just have no idea what I'm doing :)

Technically, the parking for "TTC" is the Magic Kingdom parking lot. When you park on the MK lot, they will park you in a very controlled manner, space after space, row after row, in pre-determined area of the lot. You wouldn't be able to sneak off on your own to park closer like that. Now they do offer preferred parking on the Disney lots, which might get you a little closer - but that would require paying a fee, even with your AP.

They set up cones starting at the entrance toll plaze to guide everyone over to the section of the lot they are working on.

Thanks everyone! Does that continue all afternoon or just when parks open? We wont be arriving until late afternoon. I also considered doing a late lunch at Kona Cafe before Typhoon Lagoon but wasnt sure how strictly the 3 hour parking was being enforced lately and I dont want to be stressed at Moonlight Magic that we are over our pakring pass timing.

Most of the afternoon if not longer. I arrived around 8 or 9 pm and they weren’t guiding then but they do for most of the day.

Polynesian is VERY strict. Small parking lot, TONS of gst.
You will need to park at TTC then walk.
You would have to be the first early get of the morning, well before noon ,to get a close parking space.

And even then they usually park you on the opposite side of the lot from where Poly is.

I went to Disney the day after Thanksgiving this past year. I went to the MK parking (TTC) so I could visit the different resorts to see the Christmas decorations. I parked where they told me, and took the tram to the TTC. The tram drop-offs are VERY close to the Polynesian walkway. I forget which color is which, but I was parked in one of the hero lots, and that tram drop-off was closer to the walkway than the villain drop-off, but the difference was negligible.

Thats good to know! Does the TTC parking lot feel fairly safe late after park closing? I never used to worry as much at Disney but it will just be my teenage daughter and myself and I am not sure what time we will be walking back to the car after Moonlight Magic and birthday visiting but it should be after dark.

We parked at the Poly twice last week. We had ADRs and they asked for last name once. The other time held the ID upside down and sent us on our way. Not strict at all and could care less about three hours.

Now YC/BC....Fort Knox (even with ADRs) lol.

Eta: not implying to circumvent the system. Just nobody is watching the clock once you arrive for your ADR

Sorry,

I can't answer that question. By the time I ran out of energy and went back to my car, the parks were still open.

On the tram ride in that morning, the CM making announcements on the tram was doing them in the style of the Jungle Cruise. She informed us of the time the last tram would be running, and then told us that the only thing running after that time would be us.... to our cars.
