I'd like to wear a Disney spirit jersey on my flights as I'll be arriving at night and leaving very early in the morning so they shouldn't be too hot.
I'm just concerned that due to their bagginess and glitter puff paint they may pose an issue at security during the body scanner.
I once wore a pair of velour leggings on a flight and was flagged on the body scanner and even though it was quite clear I was not hiding anything wearing skin tight pants they still felt up and down my entire lower half.
So now I get worried about what clothing items may effect the scanner reading.
Anyone out there wearing a spirit jersey through TSA screening?

My jeans got flagged when they were a little baggy. Flagged both flying out to vacation and flying back home. I had to pull them up a bit and even then, still got flagged for a pat down.

Have you considered wearing a tank top and using the spirit jersey as a jacket; therefore, putting that in the bucket for them to scan.

I’ve worn a spirit jersey without incident

I really don't have tank tops. I have t-shirts but I already have to have a zip up hoodie for when I'm down there and a fleece jacket because I come from a colder climate and I'm doing carry on only so it starts to be a lot to put in bins or try shoving in my bag.
Maybe I'll just stick with regular tops so I don't have to be worried about it lol.

Now my relaxed fit jeans are starting to make me nervous lol. I just found out that they are my live, die, and be buried in style of jean haha.
So I was going to wear them since I can wear them more than once on the trip.

You are seriously overthinking this. You’ll be fine.

You say that until its you who they stop and pull aside and ask a bunch of questions to and have your hands swabbed and your lower body patted down and the embarrassment of everyone watching trying to figure out what caused you to be flagged. Then after all that they had me go through again and the same areas lit up so they decided it was just the texture of my velour pants and how it was laying on my body.
I knew I wasn't doing anything wrong but it can feel like that at the time and I got all sweaty and nervous which didn't help.

My bare knee was flagged 2 different times. I was wearing shorts. I had to have someone feel my knee (which doesn’t have any scars or incisions). So you never know what will cause you to be flagged. In my case it was literally nothing. So no matter what you wear or do you could potentially get searched. I’m sure tons of people wear spirit jerseys through the airport. Prob some get searched. Prob some don’t. I just wear whatever I want and hope for the best.

I get flagged every time, usually its a loose sock,or some small bunch of material somewhere, and it's never a big deal for them to do a quick pat on the ankle or whatever....

Yep, this right here means you’re making it a bigger deal than it needs to be. I guarantee no one else at the airport staring at you and wondering what you’re doing. Just wear what you want.

You were not there so you don't know. There was a line backed up due to me and people on both sides were looking at me. After I was able to gather my belongings a random woman walked up to me and asked if I was okay because she saw me getting pale and sweaty standing there.

If this were me tripping over a curb or something at the parks I'd agree no one would be paying attention but there is nothing for people to do besides stare at you when at TSA and you're all standing there waiting to go through.

Oh plenty of people were staring when I was getting patted down on my chest. I refused to let them do a full lower body pat down in the open, because by the tone I had a bad feeling it was going to be rather uncomfortable. And it was....nothing quite like agents patting your crotch because the buttons on the top of your shorts are supposed to be the problem.

I think the take away from all this is that you can get flagged for any number of reasons, but you're not necessarily going to be flagged just for wearing a spirit jersey, so wear what you want. :)
I really do think if you're worried about it, choose a different shirt, but realize you could get flagged for no apparent reason anyways. We've been flagged a few times.

Its worth it to pay for TSA precheck just to skip those body scanners! I always hated them.

It's definitely another plus to precheck.

DS21 somehow flags the "random search" 50% of the time. I have too on occasion.

Really, everyone flying knows the deal and it's not a big deal if you're flagged or need a secondary screening.

Travel enough and you'll understand it's not a big deal. Yes, they'll swab your hands, and random things from your bag! Your reaction is what people were watching. People are often asked to go through the scanner multiple times!

Put those velour leggings in the "don't wear on the plane" pile, that was the fate of my favorite capris. Strange metal button and zipper placements were a favorite of TSA. As suggested above, wear something under the spirit jersey and place it in a bin.

Consider pre-check, it uses the good 'ole walk through scanners. Though getting flagged for a "random" search isn't uncommon.

I don't fly enough to want to pay for precheck.
Plus half the time I do only go through the metal detector so its not always an issue.
And just so everyone knows I realize its not a huge deal if I am flagged since I know I've done nothing wrong and I'll get through and be able to fly. But I don't like when others are being held up due to me and then its easy to see they are watching me because if I were not standing there they would not be held up.
I'm a stressed traveler so I try to eliminate that stress as much as possible.
I stress about what time I arrive and how long security takes and that I have enough time to go to the restroom before boarding because I don't like to inconvenience people on the flight etc.
Hence why I asked if anyone on here wears spirit jerseys through TSA so I could decide if it was something that commonly gets flagged so I could avoid wearing it.

You can always ask for a private pat down if doing one in the open is at all anxiety inducing for you (and it sounds like it is). I get pulled every single time I fly because I lost 160 pounds. The loose skin flags in the system every time. I just shrug and let them do their thing but I don't care if people stare. It sounds like the whole process is anxiety producing for you so IF you get flagged and pulled aside, ask them to do the pat down in private. They are fine with that.

Change your thinking... others aren't being held up because of YOU. They're being held up because of TSA procedure (whatever that procedure is). That could be something seen in the scan, or just a random coincidence. Of course, that's easier said than done.

Yeah, no. I once (I guess dumbly, in retrospect) wore a hoodie without wearing a t-shirt under it. Why would I - I never took it off! Until TSA made me because it was too baggy.
