Trying to Plan things!!

Hello All

I'm getting nagged by my DH to get things sorted for our forthcoming holiday to sunny florida at Christmas - i know its a long way away but he's a bit anxious that we will have no christmas dinner booked come christmas day with 2 kids in tow, can anyone tell me the best place to arrange to go with DH, DS (aged 12) and DS (aged 4) luckily i have no picky eaters but i would like it something really special for chrimbo day, also can you let me know the phono number i need to call (if possible) and the earliest date i can book from.

We were at WDW for Dec 25 1998. As far as I know you won't get a traditional turkey dinner. The Americans have that for Thansgiving. We had dinner at the restaurant in the castle. It was very nice. The MK was MOBBED that day (always is on Dec 25) so we got in only because we were guests of a Disney hotel and we had a meal reservation.

This link will give you info on making reservations or 'priority seating' as it is known at Disney. I dont think you can book until 90 days before the day of the meal, read that link and you will find out everything you need to know including menus.

When we went at Christmas in 1997 we wanted a near traditional dinner aspossible. We tried the Liberty Tree Tavern as it does a turkey meal. We thought it was lovely and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending it. Have a great, if VERY busy time.

My mum and I spent Christmas 2003 at WDW. Our evening dining would not be suitable for your family, as we went to Victoria & Alberts on the 25th.

We did go to to Chef Mickey's for breakfast on Christmas morning - actually they called it brunch as the buffet was extra big that day. It was very good and had a great atmosphere. It could be good for dinner if you fancy a buffet. Would the 12 year old mind the characters?

Liberty Tree Tavern would have a fairly traditional type of dinner which I think is served in a big plate on your table and you help yourself.

Watch out though. MK in particular is crazy busy on the 25th and if you are not in the park early you may not get in at all even for your PS time. This happens even if you are staying onsite. It is true that onsite guests are allowed in as long as possible, but once that park reaches capacity, its a no go. It could be quite stressful to try and spend all day in one park while waiting a PS time. Perhaps resort dining may be better. Just a thought.

Make sure you make your Dec 25th PS at exactly 90 days out. They will go very quickly.

Last Christmas we did breakfast in the Castle, then booked a later dinner at one of the resorts. Like you, we wanted a traditional turkey meal and I planned accordingly. I didnt pick Liberty Tree Tavern as we had a meal booked there on the night we did Mickeys Xmas Party and I didnt want to stay all day at very manic MK!!

After looking at the menus, we picked the California Grill, who, according to my research, were offering a roast turkey option with yam mash and veggies. Unfortunately, when we got there, there was no such option and we had to have steak instead.

WDW DINE said ALL the restaurants would offer a "festive" option but the Cali Grill did not.

You will need to book at exactly 90 days for whichever restaurant you choose and I would highly recommend a resort eaterie, rather than one in a park. They are not obliged to let you in even if you have a PS and the park is full.

We are going at Christmas and we plan to eat at Ohana's in the Polynesian Resort. They do have turkey on the menu
Because MK will be so manic, we plan to spend most of the day in Epcot (we are staying at the Dolphin, so Epcot is handy), and then get the monorail round to TCC and change to the resort monorail to Ohana's.
We will then play it by ear - we may spend time at the Poly on the beach after dinner and watch Wishes

Thanks everyone for all your info, i wil get into looking at different menu's, i don't fancy being in MK though chrimbo day, by the sounds of things it's absolutely manic and i'm going to try and keep it as calm and relaxing as possible, we're staying on idrive so if anyone can think of any good restaurants they've been too for chrimbo dinner on idrive i would love to hear from you.
